>>64931978Honestly that's not really that bad a strategy. Large wavelength radars aren't actually that hard to manufacture, all things considered. It's hard to have good all aspect stealth against large wavelengths, since the stealth aspects have to go pretty deep into the structure of the aircraft. So build a bunch of cheap ones, position them all over, and the enemy air force has the choice between taking them out and alerting you to their presence like that, or just being detected when they pass by them at an angle which the radar can detect them. As long as you have good software, you could probably estimate the location of the attacking aircraft for your more advanced radars to find and lock onto through some sort of probabilistic analysis of where and when the cheaper radars are destroyed. Sounds like the sort of thing China would do actually. The Iranians are probably using the Resonanz-M complexes in place of whatever the Chinese would normally use, but I suspect the Chinks would design them with a certain degree of cross compatibility in mind, given that a lot of their older stuff is direct copies of Russian stuff.
