The alternative is that the guy that was originally here posting crap about Dirlewanger and ranting about "war crimes are a pussy leftist concept" was successfully run off and bitched out after getting bullied relentlessly for being a massive faggot, which would mean I won. That guy took this little digital crusade very seriously, so it would be extremely weird for somebody else to pretend to be this freak of nature and somehow get just as offended and respond to years-old bait in the exact same manner.

In summary, it's the same guy but partially self-censoring to reduce his bans from hourly to a few times a day.

The one thing ol' Dirlie hated more than anything else was being reminded that he was alone. He constantly tried to pretend there was always "another guy" back when user count was still displayed in threads. It's one of his tells, his insistence on correcting anyone that accurately states he is still the only one that is coming here daily to get negative attention through low-effort shitposting.

Oh, and he loves keeping the conversation about him, even when we switch to a new thread and no other person would have any reason to talk about him. That's another behavior of his that gives his presence away.

The most puzzling thing of this entire ordeal is the leftscum coming out of the woodwork to wish for peace against Iran and saying that they care about the troops when the reality is that they want to fight a civil war in their home town/city against the troops.

Literally last month they were crying about ICE and wishing for a civil war with the Minnesota NG versus ICE + the military, now they "care about the troops".
Leftscum have 0 principles. It's all about them.
Just like how when Robert comes in here to "save" people from entering the military when he himself was too mentally gone to get in and stay in.
It actually explains a lot that Robert is actually a giga-leftist who surfs leftist twitter pages all day tabbing in and out of 4chan.
It makes a lot of sense now why Robert makes a big stink over Milley, because he is still trying to convince a non-existent demographic that the military is everything we hate. He doesn't actually hate jews or worship Dirlewanger, he's just mentally deranged leftscum.
>It's amazing how much leftist discourse is just them pretending not to understand things, thus making discourse impossible.

Hey, I have a question about the national guard on the basis of going to get promoted to a warrant officer or taking the SMP program and become a officer. I really want to work on guns and weapons, but I also want the benefit of my college paid off and having my mechanical engineering degree. I don.t know if there is any officer MOS that lets you work firearms or weapons, or sadly, that is only for the enlisted. Do you guys have any advice?
>>
>>64942266
Closest things are the 131A or 913A warrant tracks. Commissioned officers do not do maintenance work themselves.
I strongly recommend doing more research on the duties and career tracks of officers and warrant officers before committing to anything.
>>
>>64942367
To be Frank with you, I was torn between 913a, or bite my tongue and go 91 officer, or really bite my tongue and go 11 officer, and hopefully try out airborne or ranger school, at the very least.

I was a navy nuke. The washout is so high because there is a very dramatic time commitment to making it through the schooling and out into the fleet. Once you make it to the fleet, things aren't going to be any better either. A 10 hour workday is a short day, and you will probably only get one weekend a month off because reactor department is permanently understaffed. That paste bin write up was actually pretty good.

As far as what you do, on deployment, you'll spend 6 hours a day on watch down in the plant taking logs and operating equipment. You'll spend 12 hours doing maintenance, qualifying, and doing the gay navy shit everyone has to do. You'll get 6 hours of sleep if you're lucky, and you'll have to find time to squeeze a meal in somewhere in there. In port, the short answer is that you'll work as much as you need to. You'll have a few 6 hour days and go home, you'll have a few 16 hours days doing some awful maintenance item. On your duty days You'll stand 12 hours of watch taking logs and maybe turning on a pump to fill up a tank or something every once in a while, and then mostly be left alone for the other 12 hours (but that is far from a guarantee).

I'll answer more questions if asked. It was pretty gay and shitty, but I worked at McDonald's and slept on my mom's couch in her single bedroom apartment before I joined and now I work for a fortune 500 company making six figures (before taxes) so it can propel you to great things too.

>>64943789
What was your experience like when you went back into the civilian workforce? Were there any pitfalls you noticed your peers falling into, or is that process fairly smooth?
>>
>>64943805
I went to college after to get my bachelor's and then joined the civilian workforce. Being in college for a few years softened the blow of getting, uh, "deinstitutionalized". Even then, it is still a bit challenging to integrate yourself back into the civilian world, but it isn't debilitating or anything. The benefit is that everything (work wise) will be extremely easy for you. Having an entire week to work on something will feel like a lifetime. In school, you will be expected to learn arguably more but the difference is that you'll have an entire month to learn it instead of one single day. I'd say the process is pretty smooth. It won't be difficult to find a job just because having "navy nuke" on a resume is automatically desirable and will probably at the very least get you an interview. It'll be easy for you to get into almost any college you want to and you'll probably get a bunch of transfer credits too (varies by school).

I can't really think of any pitfalls I've seen. I guess one is that I've known a few people who got competely burned out on school and just decided to take whatever work they got immediately after getting out instead of getting a degree. Which is fine, school isn't for everyone, but they aren't living up to their potential either.
>>
>>64943841
So given that your nuke commitment is 6 years and then you went for a 4 year bachelor's degree, that is a decade long maneuver in exchange for your job. Given that most other rates only ask for 4 years, what do you think you gained as a nuke that was worth the 2 extra years and the rate-specific stressors and responsibilities?
>>
>>64943856
I'm glad you brought that up because everyone should be thinking about the time commitment. For me, it did two things. It introduced me to engineering, which is not something I ever thought in a million years that I would even be capable of doing. The second thing is that it taught me how to be disciplined and apply myself. I was one of those people that never once had to study as a kid and I paid for it. Nuke school taught me habits that got me through college and into my career field. I suppose I should say again that it makes things easy for you, I never worried about failing anything again because I had already been greatly challenged and succeeded.

You sure as hell don't NEED to be a nuke to get those benefits though. Even after I said all of this, I would still advise 90% of people not to be a nuke. There are equally high speed rates that will allow to do things arguably cooler and in much less time.
>>
>>64943888
Another anon here, not interested in joining the military but was wondering how you study for your classes in college and what are some good habits to adopt. I’m a current electrical engineering undergraduate student and could really use the advice, considering I was one of those kids who never studied for exams. Also, is the nuclear field looking for any EEs currently? Any tips for engineers looking for a potential job in the nuclear energy field? Thanks
>>
>>64943888
Which rates do you mean?
>>
>>64943932
Intelligence and cyber rates (CT, IT, RW) are always good, aviation electronics rates (AT and AM) will do a lot for you, I admittedly don't know anything about it but I always thought being a missleman (MT) would be cool. Or you could just say fuck it and be a conventional ET/EM and get into those fields on easy mode.

>>64943917
Do the homework, and do it on the same day as your class. Engineering homework is usually set up to take multiple days to do it. DO NOT wait until the day before. Try it once completely on your own. When you get stuck or can't figure something out, then get the book and your notes out. Use the internet to find the answers to your homework to see if you were right. If you're lucky, you'll even find examples of the problem being worked through and you can see where you went wrong (don't blindly believe what's on Chegg these days btw, there's dumb shit on there that I think is malicious). Do the homework more than once until you can get every answer completely correct with no help (you won't be able to do this if you wait until the last day). Do the other practice problems in the book that weren't assigned to you if you've got time (you should). If you've got one of those classes where the professor isn't assigning problems out if a book then Google for some. Lastly, study groups are fucking awesome IF you get the right one. Teaching each other how to solve problems is like applying leverage to your learning, but you are actively harming yourselves if you so just sit around and bullshit the whole time.

The nuclear field is growing right now more than it has been in 40 years and they need everyone they can get. Go to career fairs and meet people in person. If your school has a chapter, join the American Nuclear Society. My chapter was awesome and we got to do a lot of cool stuff. You should also join your school's chapter of the IEEE and go to the meetings because that networking will go a long way for you.
>>
>>64943917
Oh yeah, DO NOT SKIP CLASS. You will miss out on so much if you aren't there. Pay attention to the professor and take notes because a lot of times they will tell you what is on the test indirectly, and they WILL say something out loud that isn't in the book or the power point slides that you will need to know. Ask questions too, it doesn't matter how stupid you think they are. You're a student, you don't know shit about shit, you aren't even capable of determining if a question is stupid or not anyway.

I have to rant here because I can't take it any more. I am fucking desperate for my waiver to process. I fucking hate my home situation right now to the point that I'll take being chow officer at bootcamp over the retarded bullshit I have to deal with at home. My MOS is/was foreign language analyst, but I'd take being an infantry grunt over the retardation I have to deal with here. I had to get a medical waiver because the same fucking person who is making my home life miserable is also the same person who went full Munchausen syndrome by proxy and shopped around for a diagnosis she was happy with. Already have everything sorted out, as I haven't even been seen for this supposed disorder in over 15 years, but if it weren't for that, I wouldn't have to still deal with this shit.
Since I'm here anyways, does anyone know if ASVAB/DLAB scores can influence my chances of getting my waiver approved? I'm guessing it would depend partially on the MOS if anything. I am so fucking ready to leave my home behind I am BEGGING inside for something at this point.
>>
>>64944293
>does anyone know if ASVAB/DLAB scores can influence my chances of getting my waiver approved?
They really only affect the chances of your recruiter actually submitting a waiver. Nobody wants to go the extra mile for a dunce.

You're still all over the place bro. Do some research on how SMP works and how an officer MOS differs from an enlisted MOS, and also research what going airborne or Rangers really entails.
Why spend an arbitrary amount of time as a 91F and then switch to something else? Why not go SMP from the start, and why not start as an 11B? Why do any of this if you want to be a Ranger, which requires you to be on active duty? Why enlist at all if you're going to school right now and could go ROTC?
Please take some time to think about these questions and do some more research. In my experience, people who have convoluted plans for their service rarely accomplish what they set out to at the start, and usually get caught up in some bullshit at their first unit and their plans change. Even in cases where that doesn't happen, people generally switch from one major track to another (enlisted to warrant, enlisted to officer, conventional to SOF, etc.) instead of succeeding at getting to do their favorite comfy POG MOS and also a hard-charging 11B and also an officer and also an underwater airborne SEAL medical doctor astronaut with a Jungle tab who flies helicopters or whatever.

Gentlemen, I need some technical assistance here.

I'm going to be within CENTCOM here soon (it was already scheduled, will be near but not because of Iran).

Does anyone have good experience using a personally owned Starlink for an entire deployment outside of the approved zones?

I see that its capped 2 months outside of the US, and I've seen pictures of them on bases and with the Navy but I don't know if those were backdoor agreements and GOV bought.

Looking online guys just say buy used pucks, use Google Fi, etc but I'd rather not rely on local infrastructure or the government just shutting off the cell towers.

It's such a pain in the dick you cant spoof these fuckers because they have to be angled exactly in the right path to send and recieve.

That's what the military life is all about. My recruiter said fuck it and just wrote a statement that some surgery i had when I was 6 happened so long ago he didn't want to bother waiting for the documents and said the records were no longer on file. But he liked me and yeah, he was tired of getting total dumbasses sent to him so when he saw I got a 95 on my asvab, no criminal record and passed everything else he just pushed me through

Is the right move here to avoid filling this out so the IRR wranglers are forced to call me and I can be like "ay yo I wouldn't mind joining the actual Reserve (or Guard) but the recruiters won't answer their phones, can you tell them to call me?"

The only “combat” seen recently is special forces being used as surgical gadget tools for a variety of roles. Regular infantry does fuck all.

Reservists in Washington, DC have seen more action than infantry in the last half a decade.

I just booked airborne cryptologic language analyst in the Air Force and I'm pretty worried. I've only read bad things about the tech school and I've never had any real affinity for foreign languages, but I really want to take a chance on this. My main concern is failing and getting reclassed into a bullshit job like services or security forces.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this?
>>
>>64957870
Learn how to do flash cards and language mining, basically just immerse yourself in the chosen language 24/7, listen to music and try to translate it, watch movies and TV with in-language subtitles (no translation) and try to translate it and pick out words you don't know to add to your flash cards, throw yourself at it with full force and refuse to burn out and don't be afraid to try talking as much as possible in the language. You can't really prep since they choose your language, but that's general advice.
Chinese, Russian, and Persian are high likelihood but not a given, you can be given some bullshit too. Russian is easy, learn cyrillic and the sounds are 1:1, grammar is fairly simple compared to some languages, it should be easy to mine words just by ear and construct sentences. Persian is an abjad script (they don't have vowels written in) which sucks dick, it uses the Arabic script which works great for Arabic (3 base letters + changes in vowels and small additions change words in a logical way) but its an indo-european language so the arabic logic system does fuck all, grammar is decidedly more complex than either Chinese or Russian, media and learning materials are more sparse with less variation in music and television, almost no usefulness outside the military, absolute shit tier language to get assigned.
Chinese is hard to grind because the characters but pinyin makes sense once it clicks (the sound system is logical, just not intuitive because it doesn't follow the english sound system), grammar is really intuitive and easy, you really have a huge hurdle with just being able to get a tone by ear and also replicate tones and it's very early on that you have to have it click or you flunk. One you get the sound system and the tones down the biggest hurdle is grinding characters which you will just have to get something like Pleco to have decks where you see a character and you identify the stroke order, the pinyin, the tone, and the meaning.
>>
>>64957870
>>64958222
Don't give up hope, it'll be a lot being thrown at you but it'll end at some point and you'll end up with a new language and a pretty comfy job when you get out. Airborne Cryptolinguist is pretty badass in a nerd way, if you want to think of it in videogaem terms, you're sometimes the guy in Big Boss/Venom's ear translating stuff in MGSV. You'll also be doing a lot of desk work and later in your career powerpoint presentations to more important people. As Airborne you get to do SERE which is pretty fun LARP as part of your training. Your largest hurdles will be early on in your coursework, don't half ass or cheat your way through the fundamentals, sit your ass down and get on the grind, get a caffeine addiction, and put in the long hours to get the foundational knowledge and you'll get into a flow state about 3 to 6ish weeks in when you start clicking, and that'll last a few months before burnout hits, but if you get the basics and hit the flow state by the time burn out hits you should have enough knowledge to keep the momentum pushing you through to the end where people who dick around too much don't have the momentum to keep them from washing out.
Don't go to the bars or drink, dumbass move that wastes time you can be immersing, and ruins your headspace. Don't let your dick guide you to fuck the Desperate Lovers Institute whores, they will drain your time and focus along with trying to force a marriage or cheat on you (they'll cheat either way, but one ends in divorce). Enjoy the cultural festivals and the activities for your language and try to get into it, don't be a square making your teacher upset that it wasn't fun, make it fun it helps you get hyped about your language even if you got to fake it. Enjoy that you don't have to wake up 2 hours early like the Army to do PT every day, but also work out in the mornings if you can it'll make you more awake and alert. Develop a crippling caffeine dependency, like seriously get caffeine pills.

Oh and one more thing, you'll get a lot of college credits from the DLI, if you can get some CLEP/DSST in and grab your associates degree from the DLI so when you're in big blue you can work on your bachelor's after that since you're in 6 years most likely anyways. College will be a breeze after that and you can transition to the NSA for a decent paying job or try for your commission. I wouldn't consider doing 20 enlisted as an Airborne Cryptological Linguist, your opportunities are really good civvie side or transitioning to officer in any branch and you will get stuck doing powerpoints and deskwork like a civvie or officer so why stay in a lower paygrade?

First time posting in /meg/. I want to be a pilot and I have a few questions.

I have my associates and will get my bachelors around spring of 2028. How do I actually begin the process of applying for OTS/OCS? I've read that I should not talk to a normal recuiter but to look for an officer recruiter. Would I be able to apply to multiple branches?

I have been wearing glasses since I was 17 (23 at time of post), and they are a weak prescription. Whether that's weak to the military is up for them to decide. Where can I find hard requirements for eyesight? Some places like NJ Air National guard say 20/20 unconditional while Naval Aviation pages say 20/70 if completely correctable.

Now the real question I want to ask. Where in the pipeline do I find out my eligibility to be a pilot? Will I go through OCS/OTS and then get all my screenings done for my pilot application? Or does all that get done before OCS/OTS?

Did civil air patrol, never went to encampment or anything. But I do have around 10-15 flight hours. If that means anything

Yadda yadda I'm fit, I run for fun, I've liked aviation since I was a kid but I have always messed with cars instead since they're cheaper and more accessible
>>
>>64966362
What is your degree in, what is your GPA. Flight hours don't count for anything.

AF OTS and getting pilot is like a needle in a haystack. Going the OTS route has you not knowing your officer job until the end of OTS plus even getting into OTS is very difficult without certain degrees and a high GPA. Look if your college has an AF ROTC program so you don't have to deal with OTS selection rates and its one/two year wait time.

Navy OCS is much easier but with the downside of you being able to be kicked out as a pilot (medically) at any time-- Initially at MEPS, at OCS, and at Pensacola. Look into the Navy BDCP program (they pay for your last two years at college, plus you'll receive E-3/4 pay until graduation, and have you slotted in for a pilot job post-graduation).
>>
it's happening
>>
>>64940962
Does anyone know if the national guard does direct commissions for medical/scientific professionals or is it just the regular army?

I might go for an accelerated medical school program with a free ride but but I have people who I must care for and don’t want to let them down for like 3 years of minimal income.

I honestly think joining the guard while in med school is the best idea. I’m already a (research) doctor and would qualify for several including 71A but I also want to get my MD. Can I do that?

I’ve got no problem with being mobilized during war (now if needed) but I want to spend most of my time on med school. I already teach medicine so I’m wasting my potential by not practicing it.

I am starting my bachelors in the fall, it is a two year program and I end with a Bachelors of Science in Auto Business Management

BDCP seems like it could work for me, but getting booted at any point seems. I guess if my eyes pass I'll be okay but i'll have to see when I go through with it
>>
>>64966908
a Business Management degree would make you pretty uncompetitive for the AF--not to shit on any dreams you have of being in the AF.

I would look into the Navy as much as you can. The BDCP program wouldn't apply to you didn't pass MEPs initially (As that is your initial military physical). The OCS one (officer boot camp) and Pensacola ones (Physical right before you enter flight school) would be the ones to look out for.
>>
>>64966397
>E-3/4 pay
Nah it's better, it's E-4 pay with BAH and BAS, every 2 times you make the dean's list you get a promotion too up to E-6
You can be an active duty E-6 NCO with long hair and a beard and use your CAC for military discounts. It's great to have people question your active duty status
>>
>>64966975
So forget BDCP, get my bachelors and go straight to OCS and see if I can get a pilot slot?
>>
>>64967209
Re-reading my post, I can see where the confusion comes from.

No, I would go for the BDCP program. Get in touch with a Navy Officer recruiter. You'll go to MEPs as a part of the application process to get into the BDCP program. BDCP will confirm you a pilot slot in OCS and pay you a monthly wage (housing allowance and food allowance as well) and pay for your last two years in college--if you get accepted. Just forget I said anything about medical disqualification; you're too far out for that to be a concern. Just pretend it doesn't exist ATM.
