I LOVE the Finnish RK62. especially the M3. closest thing I can do on this budget is to convert my JRA Gallant. hard part will be finding Sako stock now that aawee.fi mostly dried up. Iron Curtain Customs make 7.62 barrels and trunnions for the galil, so that's a start. Valman Ltd.'s AK2.0 furniture will probably also be the icing on the cake. what other guns have been a sisyphean task to clone?
gallant.
>>64961683That thing is heavy as fuck
fair point. I like it because it's just a different type of AK. I really fw M05 as well. FDF just keeps releasing platinum hits in my book.
>>64961683I have that suppressor (not in ODG)As for the OP question, clone this
>>64961683What is this finish? How does the bolt not look all scuffed up?
>>64962876that's definitely my Achilles Heel, as they aren't available in the states. oh well.that's quite the conversion, how'd you go about the magazine? and barrel, for that matter.
>>64963299probably some form of cerakote. photo was taken around 2019, so that specific rifle was probably fresh for the press covering it. that or it hadn't gotten into conscript hands yet lmao
>>64963587That one's a factory made original, but apparently a French guy sort of cloned it using a cut down Mosin barrel and idk what the fuck else he did. I sadly don't have one (mine's a .308) but would throw money at a gunsmith to make it happen if I had enough dosh
>>64961683aK5C.As far as I know, only one guy has done it, and got really close but never got quite there. He had an FNC. Back in like 2015 some surplus AK5 bolt carrier groups became available so he nabbed one. Surplus Aimpoint CS also was sold on midway of all places in 2018, and were sold out within a week or so. He nabbed one. He got close, but could never source the modernized handguard, stock, or front and rear sights. He ended up with an AK5 with an aimpoint CS. Really cool, but not the last iteration of the rifle.
>>64966985Even an AK5 itself is a fucking featI live much closer to Sweden than you probably do and I don't even know where to start
I've been making my own low budget copies of unobtainable or expensive guns, mostly preban rifles for about ten years. The AK5 and RK62 are two that are in a tiny niche of base rifle that's somewhat available but the parts are an extreme task to find. I won't spam the thread with catalog photos of my builds but I'll share a few highlights. This was a $675 Sig 551A1 with the top rail ripped out of its rivnuts, back when 550s weren't flooding into the country and I couldn't even find good pics of the internal parts. I built a new piston and barrel by scaling from pictures and extended the gas tube, then added the sights and handguards. I couldn't even get the rubber charging slot seals or rivets so I had to weld repair the top of the receiver and refinish it without damaging them
>>64967251This is a MK22 Hushpuppy I built. I've gotten my hands on originals of some of the other special purpose suppressed pistols and have projects going to recreate them as well
>>64967251>>64967259>I built a new piston and barrel by scaling from picturesincredibly based
>>64967251How do they stay low budget after all that work and necessary tools?
>>64967259I posted this in a TP9 thread the other day, but it's one of my recent builds. The civilian Steyr SPP is lacking the foregrip of the TMP so I modeled one, again from pictures, then had it printed in glass filled nylon. After sanding and painting it I pocketed out the frame, leaving a center island where the serial is located, and epoxied the grip in flush. That makes it one of the only, if not only, Steyr-marked guns with the grip in the US. I put more labor hours in this than in some parts kits I've built, trying to make it seamless>>64967322Everything is relative. An $1100 SG550 or HK33 is a fraction of the cost of a preban, new import, or shop built gun and gives me more satisfaction in ownership than just swiping a credit card to fill out the collection. Plus I can do stuff that is otherwise impossible to replicate, like clone engravings or parts that were never sold. Some stuff can't be had at any price. It helps that I have a full cnc machine shop with all the tools and capabilities.
>>64961683>RK-62After the things I've seen/heard and done to this piece of iron: I wonder how well the new Sako rifles will hold up to the gorilla nigger abuse of the conscripts? How much mental anguish will it cause to the sergeants/lieutenants/captains/armorers when Ville gets bored and decides to use his rifle as a golf club?Or when Matti decides that using the barrel/mag/mag well/any other part of the rifle is a good hiding spot for his lit ciggie?Or when Teppo decides not to dry his rifle and leaves it soaked as shit outside the tent on mount Hätilä and it turns into a solid block of ice?How much ass will be torn when shit-for-brains Nönnönnöö drops his rifle behind the IFV that is backing up and his rifle turns into a krummlauf?I can't wait for the class of x/xx to post their shenanigans on tiktok or whatever the fiuck.
