why don't more (long) guns use progressive springs / recoil assemblies?
i see stuff like buffers & the like on pistols, but why have they stopped doing it on carbine / rifle sized guns?

they used to be done on a lot of smg's pre-ww2, for their benefits, but were dropped in favor of cheap shit (since it worked); in the modern day though, it seems like it would really fit into the newer PCC & comp-guns market

bro they just use a correctly sized spring.

you answered your own question there

ah, so i guess thats why the MP5 and other delayed action carbines are totally null, same with all those gucci comp guns, right?
nobody buys guns like that, right?

yeah, no

Not null, but not wide spread either
AR15 has plenty of fancy recoil springs and buffers you can buy if you want, they just dont do so much more than a cheap spring that they would ever become standard

Cars use progressive springs so you can have a soft ride over small bumps without bottoming out on tall bumps. Guns just have one size of bump to deal with.

I can tell you’ve never fired a gucci spring assembly “zero recoil” race AR then, it’s not really worth it unless you compete but it’s definitely a huge improvement.

my statement had a qualifier for a reason
if its not worth it unless you compete, then it would not become standard

most people don't, so there you go

It's cheaper :^)

And as for an actual answer, this is it.
