Do they plan on battle testing them anywhere?

>one-way

bad guys have "suicide drones"
good guys have "one way drones".
>>
>>64967932
I just think it's retarded to call a drone a kamikaze or suicide since it isn't alive.
>>
>>64967942
You could strap a japanese man to the kamikaze drone, if it makes you happier.

Loitering munition is fine, it doesn't need another name, yes I am German.

>tfw for a moment I thought it was a puller prop with forward swept wings and now I'm extremely disappointed

>>64967932
sneeds are "one-way effectors." They're not drones at all because they use preprogrammed waypoints and are not intelligently controlled.
>>
>>64967909
This is clearly an attritable UAV with "kamikaze" last-ditch capability. This is hardly in the venerable "flying dorito" category alongside Geran, Shahed, or LUCAS.
>>
Any aircraft can be "one way" if you need.
>>
>>64967942
by that metric "masters" and "slaves" shoudn't exist outside of human interactions

Why the pusher/canard setup? Is somebody at baykar just a fan of x-planes?

Why cant we just call em "cheap cruise missile"? Since that is exactly what they do, a cruise missile that is dirt cheap. No "one way drones" or "suicide drones" nonsense.
>>
>>64968274
>>
>>64968274
probably to not interfere with the warhead
>>
>>64967909
looks too fancy to be single use
>>
>>64968427
It can technically land and be reused but that's for sissies
>>
>>64968286
I think the distinction is speed. Cruise missiles are fast. Drones are much slower, comparatively.

Tomahawk cruises at 900kmph. This K2 is probably more like 200 or less.
>>
>>64968434
Cruise missiles run the gamut from hypersonic to subsonic, I don't see why they shouldn't include slow subsonics like shaheds.
>>
>>64968434
I'm retarded, but does having lower speed make it harder or easier for a radar to detect? I think it wouldn't affect the signature, but if you went slow enough could some radars have filtering to exclude it as a threat?
>>
>>64968475
You'd have to go as slow as a bird to make that work, so like 25-50 mph. Flying low can help hide from radar but the Russians found out their $200,000 Shahed-brand Shaheds were getting shot down by MANPADs and technicals so they quickly switched over to flying as high as possible.

So no, drones don't have any advantages over cruise missiles in stealth or avoiding interception in general.
>>
>>64968434
>Cruise missiles are fast. Drones are much slower, comparatively.
Well that also kinda depends on the drone. The Shahed 136 is slow at 185km/h but the larger jet engine Shahed 238 has a speed of around 600km/h putting it much closer to the original cruise missile, the V1 flying bomb that had a max speed of 640km/h.

The Turkish K2 drone that OP posted is honestly just an advance subsonic long range cruise missiles with the added ability to hit aerial targets. Wouldn't suprise me if it could also be used against naval targets so in the end it could be used against ground, naval and aerial targets.
>>
>>64968082
Loitering generally implies rotary wings/ability to reamin static-ish for a long time.
>>
>>64967909
>Suicides drones are becoming more advanced
>Their price tag in result increases

Then the whole point is kinda getting lost and you might as well build ballistic missiles and reduce the cost of them instead.
>>
>>64968514
No it doesn't
>>
>retractable nose gear
>fixed rear landing gear
>on a one-way drone
Why bother? The nose gear especially, is unnecessarily heavy and complex for this class of drone
>>
>>64968837
Nose gear might be needed for swarm maneuvers. And its not strictly a one-way drone. You sendthem to the target as a swarm, enemy air defence might be shit so the first one takes care of the target, you recall the rest.
>>
>>64968552
>reduce the cost of ballistic missiles
lol
lmao
>>
ok let me get this straight

tb2 record according to the turk numbers was 27 hours of flight time an 200km/h average speed was 5400km
mq9 with a flight record of 27 hours at 300km/h is 1900km
their new drone while being smaller in every way appears to have 2000km range

im guessing (well not really guessing since they are turks and they lie)
they jsut stretched their numbers once more to showcase the range instead of loitering time like usa does thinking that poeple will actually believe it
>>
>>64967909
What is the price?

As for range I think they withhold information, I think with such aerodynamics it's 4000 km if not more.
>>
>>64967909
Looks too big and complex for a one way drone.
Bastard child of a cruise missile and a shahed

Absolutely has to be. To the point they bought the Italian company Piaggio that made pic related Aventi, and revived the model from bankruptcy.

Someone at Baykar definitely has some aerodynamic hot takes. Likely the owner. The TB2 itself was clearly touched by someone who has aerodynamic opinions.

>>
>>64968923
They may also need the nose gear to kneel when at low load and maximum fuel to keep the centre of gravity in front of the rear wheels; passenger aircraft with this configuration often do.

The fuselage is the same TB2 fuselage. The same molds are probably being used. The landing gear is also the same. Baykar has produced hundreds, perhaps thousands, of TB2s. They produce not just the fuselage but also many electrical, mechanical, and electronic components themselves at home. They must have achieved very serious economies of scale.

Yeah, duh. The Good Guys always win, haven't you ever read a history book? Good Guys are literally undefeated.
