Because it is improved M67.
>>
>>64969040
They aren't, it's to supplement the M67. Designed to be better for indoor use.

More info
>replacement for Mk3A1, not M67
>Mk3A1 was unsafe to train with because asbestos
>making it roughly useless
>M111 is safer to train with

Pointless nade.
As Ukrianian war revealed if your hand grenades fails you need really much bigger boom, not just a little bigger boom.

Infantry needs something in such format. 1.5 kg of thermobaric explosives, really larger boom, light enough to be handled ok. Stick handle for good grip, rectangular head so several can be stacked and tied together with scotch. Plastic case for lighter weight so no fragments they aren't needed for such or even hurtful.

Retarded sizes of explosives like this are only good if you want to looney toons flatten a small structure with enemies inside as you just barely avoid the lethal blast radius and falling debris. The US relies way more on ordnance for that role over individual infantry kit.

TBG-7 is 2.5 kg of thermobaric explosives
You decide if it's excessive

My opinion 1.5 kg is bare minimum for reliable room clear. You want 3 kg fit effect but It would be unwieldy.

Eleventy-one. Eleventy-eleven would be 1111.

M Eleventy-one.

M one eleven

Having a grenade that is lightweight enough to be lobbed into every room of a brick/concrete/reinforced structure without potentially causing structural damage fills a useful niche within the US military. Also note that a structure with a proper roof won't need as large of a blast to saturate it as the one you've posted.

When the US wants to light off an explosion of the yield in your video it's generally going to be done with a Gustav, a mortar, or a satchel. Making every grenadier carry a giant lunchbox of C-4 on a stick is rather amusing to me, but I don't think it's the best solution.

SIX SEVEN

But Ukraine has recent room/debris clearing experience. Surely there's some sort of use case for a big non-frag boom device that infantry can rely on, especially if the US is starting iraq insurgency war 2.0

>muh ordnance
>muh air superiority
Yes and undisputed but there's no way infantry have guaranteed 24/7 access to all the fire support they want, so they need backups.
>>
>>64969031
Why is the Army developing their own independently
>>
>>64969031
Doesn't seem to have a fragmentation jacket. There should be a fragmentation jacket even if only useful for booby traps and drone dropping.

Kill yourself, zoomer scum.

A standardized fiber optic spool in the shape of this grenade would be useful for making a FPS drone,
Charge in the front, spool in the back, telemetry, battery, rotors.

Tim Kennedy just ordered fiddy of em.
