You have no reason to believe this, but I experienced combat personally with Japanese troops, south of Baghdad on our exit out of Camp Anaconda, in 2006. We got lit up from over 800m by a huge ambush, several wounded and I got buzzed by an RPG. We returned fire on ma deuces for 10+ minutes. My first time in theater the Japanese showed up in what I recall was either "Komatsu" LAVs or Type 82's or 96's. They showed up out of nowhere, probably en route to Anaconda and would have been struck hard instead of us, just a matter of timing. But they helped secure the straight of road there, helped us get our wounded secure and we left further south.I'll never forget that, it was a very surreal moment for me. Japan alone provided me with an actual childhood, elsewise - thanks for the good times fren and all the memories, I owe people from Japan more than most people in this world or most in this subhuman "country". I hope those Nips are alright now and doing well, and I don't want to see any of Nippon's soldiers in fucking Iran. It’s measured in the thousands per day and relies on foreign components (mostly from the open market in china) who don’t mind selling to anyone who’ll pay. They’ll be more like insurgent snipers (good propaganda but not that strategically important) in the event of an invasion. Their value lies in being cheap but without a constant flow of foreign components they won’t get nearly enough. The threat in the case of a land-war from things like their copy of the Spike is way bigger.
