1/8 is fine twist. You’re going to shoot that barrel out before we even begin to see anything with a hard 1/7 requirement. You can only go so long with projectile length. Next step is material change which is going to have a different wear pattern. At that point, you can just wrench the damn thing out.

so over covid i got this hair brain scheme of converting my carbine gas system to a rifle length. i drilled a new hole, got a longer tube, but for some dum reason i just used another gas block(flipped around) to block off the original hole. LOL it didnt work. anyways I finally want to buy a new barrel so what is the current hotness for barrel brands? should i just get the cheapest? my current one is a 1:7 wyld
>>
>>64975192

its been awhile so I cant remember exactly but i dont think so, I had to trim it down to fit under the gas tube. i think what the problem was the new gas hole was too small. I kind of remember having the gas turned down and it wasnt cycling and when it was fully open it got close but wouldnt fully cycle.

that sucks man. I almost accidentally shot a dude on the range with my .45 couple days ago. there was a few guys setting stuff up for a weekend match. Chatted with em a bit, they wouldn't be bothered by me doing a little shooting in the next bay over. So I'm shooting paper at 10 yds. Make it thru 2 magazines before one of the guys approaches me
>hey man. What caliber you shooting?
>45
>no way. would you mind moving down a couple bays? There's a guy down in the 500 yd bay setting up, said a 45 projectile just landed 2 feet away.
>Like just now?
>Yeah he picked it up, was still warm
So apparently one of my rounds skimmed off the ground, bounced up off and over the rear berm and landed some 200 yds away at this guys feet (about a 30 degree trajectory from the direction I was shooting).

I love it. The characters are fascinating and I was consistently surprised by the beliefs and ideas behind some of them. However what I find very intriguing, almost as a meta commentary, is how pivotal covid was to so many of these people, that spurred the circumstances that would eventually deteriorate by the time of the show.

I never really appreciated just how much the average mind was fucked by the isolation, misinformation, and general chaos.

Any of those posts stand out? I’ve got an a1 to get me by for now but I’m tempted.
>>
>>64975955

I use the fence post because the sun washes out a narrower one. Its really personal preference. FWIW, KNS parts are "turned":

"In small parts manufacturing, "turned" refers to components produced via a machining process where the raw material (workpiece) rotates at high speed while a stationary cutting tool removes material to create precise, cylindrical parts. This subtractive manufacturing method is ideal for creating axially symmetric, high-precision, and intricate parts such as pins, screws, and bushings."

This means the lines are very sharp and defined. They also use a nonreflective coating. If you want to shoot precisely with irons and don't want to spend a lot of money, just chop a carry handle and use a KNS sight post.

Fpbp, these americans go to shoot their ARs in windless 0c conditions for an hour or two, then they get in their warm cars and go home. They larp as if they actually go in cold conditions. I had to sleep in an unheated tent on friday and saturday night, my feet were so cold, and it was -6c to -12c. I couldnt sleep at all, on saturday when we were out on the range with our C7s, I nearly fell asleep in the prone position, waiting for the relay to finish shooting and the targets to reset

See you have to appreciate the entire grip as a system. The fab defense folding grip is the superior in that it folds. Not only does the provide added storage benefits but it is also capable of enhancing accuracy through its folding mechanism. You see, with the grip folded, it simulates an aimed shot from a rifle like a Springfield.

Nothing. But the question wasn't whether no funny business rifles should have illuminated fsps and rear irons. The original question was:

>Whats wrong with govt profile
Meat is in the wrong place
You want more meat near the chamber than the muzzle
Barrels like the BCM ELW shift meat from the muzzle towards the chamber. This will provide measurable increase in barrel life and make the barrel much easier to swing and use.

Hey guys, I shoot long guns left handed. Should I go for a Rock River or Stag Left Handed Upper? Also, what are the benefits of .223 Wylde as opposed to 5.56 Nato chambering?
>>
>>64977090
The LAM will be way better as a primary or secondary aiming solution at night 100% of the time compared to night irons. The night irons aren’t even worth those 50 bucks either. This is like getting a cheap solution that doesn’t work vs the pricier one that will work. You’re gonna have to the pricier one anyway so the best move would’ve been to not buy either or buy that one
>>
>>64977100

You really shouldnt buy a lefthanded upper
None of them are very high quality and a normal upper works perfectly fine as a left handed person. Just as long as it has a shell deflector you will be fine bud.
I know like a halfdozen people who shoot rifles lefthanded and have no issue with all number of AR15, M16 and 416
>Benefits of 223 wylde
Can be more accurate with some loads but not a promise. Easier to sell in restricted areas that ban 5.56

Is the MR556 really that good? Hadn't really considered it. How's it compare to the BRN?
>>
>>64977111
Yeah, the backup is the optic you can passively aim from. Night BUIS are retarded and will literally not work except for maybe at dusk (will still be inferior to either solution)
>>
>>64977112
Thanks for clearing that up about .223 Wylde for me. What are the best quality uppers around? Also, I'm a larger person at 6 foot 3, and the AR I've shot with a shorter barrel (I think it was around 11.5 inches) felt really tiny to me. Should I go with a rifle length barrel of 20 inches or the standard 16?
>>
>>64977128
my brother in Christ, they are backup sights. No they are not optimal if its literally your only option. But yes, you can still aim your rifle with them. Hopefully they are not the only option but sometimes shit happens then more shit happens and that's all you got.

A5 operating system on the MR556A4 is drastically superior to older 416D/A3/BRN4
Gun isnt completely destroyed by a suppressor and finally has a weight on par with the competition. Biggest con is lack of a chromelined barrel but thats a $600 HKHAUS purchase and then you sell the MR556A4 barrel to some Hkweirdo for like $700 and come out ontop anyway.
And honestly they arent even expensive anymore, like $1700 for an upper when a KAC upper is like 2k+ ????
>>64977116
Very nice
>>64977130
>Im a big guy need a big rifle
I know a 6'8" dude who runs an 11" with a can almost exclusively. Im an inch shorter than you and run 10-11.5" guns most of the time.
If you really dont know how to adjust your ergos on your rifle you can quickly swap an A5 buffer tube on the rifle and make it longer for no reason but hey its longer.
fr fr a 10-11.5" rifle with a suppressor is just such a nice experience id highly recommend starting there. But only if you get a suppressor, otherwise its terrible time and you wont like it at all. If you refuse to buy a suppressor because youre lame, 14.5" AR is fine. Zero reason to buy a 20" in current year.

I just got an 11.5 BCM after dealing with my overgassed PSA 16" shitrod and I actually think it's WAY better.. comically better actually.. no suppressor but I did have BCM put their mod2 Birdcage style flash hider on which does have like 3 gas holes for a bit of compensator action. It genuinely shoots as soft(or hard I guess)as my 16" which is wild.

the next big gun thing I buy is a suppressor.. right now I'm trying to make my FN Reflex actually shoot straight.

Yeah its crazy how much nicer a properly built AR15 is than a dogshit one. A lot of people have such a terrible time for no reason fucking around with dogshit AR15s when they have zero reason to. Doesnt even need to be some crazy $3000 rifle, the $800-$1000 upper space has been just so solid for the past idk 10 years its just almost inexcusable to have a bad rifle in 2022+4

Well, a KAC upper is ""only"" 1800 for the KS-2, 3, and 4. KS-1 is 2000 for some reason? Also I heard that HK offers a free barrel replacement for it the MR556
>>
>>64977170

>I wish they were good but good luck bro

I like everything about it and it was a tie between a Bodyguard and the Reflex, got the Reflex because it has an internal hammer and just honestly felt a little nicer but DAMN if I can't get my shit on center.. I got an XS rear sight that actually helped move my POI up, but im still shooting left which is DEFINITELY a me problem. I think the ergos on it just kinda make most people pull down and left on it, it's too common of a problem to just be the gun every time.

It is a micro9, it's not exactly an easy gun to shoot, but I'm still willing to practice and get better with it. Also thinking of getting a Hogue overmold for a Hellcat (it apparently fits perfeclty), it's got a pretty much a straight grip with no bumps or finger nubs and I'm used to my Glock17 Gen3 which is huge compared to it and has a bunch of finger grooves.. idk

worse case scenario I'm out a few hundred and I'll trade it for a Bodyguard or maybe even a Beretta Cheetah even thought its more expensive

tbqh if we want to be forizzle I would change my bolus ratio to basically err high, maybe 170-200, during any points where combat is a remote possibility. I have had cases where even planned intervals, careful carb counting, and mindfulness of exercise mode, stopping delivery, etc etc while hiking up a few hills with any amount of gear, even for casual shooting innawoods, has resulted in severe hypoglycemic crashes.

The one and only consistent solution is stopping all insulin deliveries entirely once I have to start exerting myself for any extended aerobic exercise and

I have had diabetes for relatively little time, didn't have it in childhood, there are teenagers with a better grasp on their diabeetus than me. I won the lottery!!!

Shit sucks, but once have stuff figured out won’t have to mess with it much. Probably better that way when it comes to health shit. Added bonus is that you can likely get away with carrying a lot more. “That’s my pump and not a full-size .45”
>>
>>64977329
>Shit sucks
yeah, but desu the cure is relatively near future. And yeah I do use the diabetes equipment excuse to carry pistols because most people don't know how small insulin pumps are these days.

Diabetes is a shitty disease but its management encourages healthy lifestyle choices that are good for everyone anyways, technology makes it nearly trivial atp, and soon it will be a non-issue.

I have seen some militaries allow t1ds to enlist, not that I would at this point but I wonder how that works actually, on a logistical level as part of a squad. It seems imperative to everyone that whatever role any diabetic serves on their team to be crewed by someone who won't pass out. I wonder

Maybe but I feel like Knights stuff is a whole rabbit hole I just don't want to go down. I'm debating whether or not to just go right to a DD RIII or if a chf BCM upper is the right move. I always thought that BCM was top-o-the-line, but I'm always wary of products that try to market themselves as being good economic choices lol. I'm surprised to see that BCM seems to be catching some flak. Have they deteriorated? Is a DD upper really the entry to premium ars?

So is the green acog better or not worth it? Are you going to further muddy the waters or clear your position and synthesize the two statements specifically about the green acog? Once again you are not conducive to productive conversation and instead insist on wasting everyone's time for your ego. Please grow up and stay in subject.

Literally zero reason to build a 13.7" rifle
In terms of feel you will be shifting the weight back slightly but thats only going to matter if you have a can on it. Recoil impulse, gassing, etc is going to be almost indistinguishable as most 13.7s just use 14.5 gas ports.
>>64979518
If you spent half as much time learning to properly stand while shooting a rifle as you did concerning yourself with strangers on the internet you might actually be able to bring something productive to the thread.

But maybe you could enhance the thread with a poorly lit photo of an ugly rifle? Maybe a webm of you poorly dumping auto? Perhaps with a garnish of incoherent offtopic posting to really bring things together.

This unit is from before Wuhan 19. As you can see, there's no corrosion. There's also no significant wear to the mag release, either drops perfectly fine

>>64979530
If you checked anecdotes from before you were born for updates before citing them as fact, you might actually be able to bring something productive to the thread

>>64979542
13.7 has less back pressure especially if it's a mid length gas unless you have a can on there to compensate
>>
>>64979588

why wouldn't you?
dwell time is meme though. if it mattered everyone would still be using carbine length gas tubes

I mean of course M4 carbines are still being used. military is not going to bother replacing them when small arms are irrelevant to 90% of roles. new AR platforms are absolutely moving to mid length and have been for years. URGI's aka lil block 3 uses mid length as does KAC's KS-1 (or whatever name they use for their proprietary length)
