How come Italian firearms have such a good reputation when everything else they manufacture is known for being terrible quality?

Post "the second disagreement" nobody would sell materials to Italy so everything was scavenged.

Italy has the highest amount of luxury brands on the planet, the very word "gucci" comes from Italy being the place where high end shit is made. Nobody has ever taken "Italian = terrible quality" as a general sentiment.

>beretta is largest minority shareholder in Ruger
>Ruger’s P&L has underperformed bigly over the past 24 months and share prices reflect it.
>Beretta says, “your governance is crap with some oooold fuckers who have been on the board over 30 years and don’t know shit, they just collect a board member stipend every quarter, we would like a seat, maybe we can help a little”
>ruger screams hostile takeover

To be fair, Beretta are pretty stellar owners. They basically go “we like your company, can we buy you? You get access to our capital and network, and we think you’re a good company so we want you to keep doing what you’re doing”. They own Holland & Holland on the down low. They own Sako, Tikka, Benelli, Ubwrti, Chapuis, Manurhin, Stoeger, Steiner, Burris, among others.
>>
>>64984798
It has to do with what they find interesting or cool vs what they think is lame. Italian inter-city trains? Garbage. Frecciarosso high-speed train? Clean, maintained, on-time, well staffed. Fiat daily driver econoboxes? Garbage. Ferraris are some of the best performing and engineers cars on earth. They’re like this post society that has kind of done it all, so they really like what they like and suffer the rest. You’ll see a world class almost futuristic industrial facility across the street from a thatched roof cottage with an old lady shoeing chickens off her porch. If they don’t care, it’s crap, wheras the japanese offering is still solid. If they do care, the offering makes most other things look kinda crap.

the repro bp revolvers are all ok, mostly.

they make good shotguns, and the beretta 92 is a good longslide p38 with a double stack mag
but fuck no they cant build proper rifles, modern revolvers or pistols.

they have zero own constructions

Says who? We are the second biggest industrial manufacturer of Europe after Germany, a third of European high end medical industry machines are Italian, we have a monopoly in sub milliliter poisodrop machines. Our cars are sexy and unironically more efficient and better engineered than german ones, our food is better than most and has an incredible diversity, our women are sexy and feisty but will still clean up your dick after a blowjob.

This one is particularly hilarious considering there is not a single other brand in the world with an higher Grandmaster to gun ratio in the world of competitive shooting, with tanfos easily shooting 60k rounds with little to no issues beside replacing the consumeables.

Anon, I own more guns than you. You're just shitposting with someone elses picture.
Nobody who has owned a Tanfoglio, a Beretta or a Pardini ever complained about their reliability or quality. A Beretta APX is still miles better than anything ever produced in the US, but it doesn't matter as the firearm of choice for americans is another european pistol, a glock.
>ITS MADE TO US ARMY SPECS AND NOT SHITALIAN
Case in point, you don't even know jack shit about firearms.
Us europeans are buying your firearm brands left and right because you just keep running them into the ground due to sheer incompetence. Look at Remington, Colt, Winchester, Federal, CCI, Speer, Dan Wesson, Burris, now Ruger and the list will just grow.

Italy has this weird mix of craftsmanship culture and fuck it that'll do attitudes. Meaning that their low volume limited production run stuff they tend to give a lot of care and attention resulting in goods that seem like they were designed for use by the Gods themselves, while all their high quantity production meant for the masses they don't really give a shit about it so they just churn out any old slop.

I liked my turbo fiat, but it was maintenance heavy, I like my moto guzzi but it needs more care than my honda when it comes to de-winterizing it. Thats basically Italian machinery, if you take care of it, it will take care of you but they become almost vindictive if you subject them to neglect. It's more common for terroni to dislike France. But it's just the usual "we terroni have nothing to be proud of historically, therefore we'll cope by hating somebody"
>>
>>64985896
Because France was the strongest nation at the end of the middle ages, they had their own rennaisance by robbing Italy, they built Versailles, had a revolution and then almost took over Europe, lost but then built a huge colonial empire only to lose that empire and then they secretly rebuilt the empire, tangled with the Soviet Union and spat in the US's eye at the same time. Up until Chirac began the process of robbing and polluting France (which Macron continues to this day) the country had an eerie ability to suffer massive disasters and then suddenly regain their relevance. At this rate they'll probably abandon the Church, adopt Islam and the rag heads will suddenly decide that theyre better than the rest of the Islamic world (by virture of being able to speak parisian french), conquer it and then lord it over the rest of Europe until the Christians come back and slaughter them in turn.
>tl;dr the French arent built better, theyre just built different

Italian manufactoring does not have a terrible reputation. They have specced around mid size firms in the last 30 years or so though so they have a lot of small specialized artisanal production over industrial giants. Handarm production is a great example of this.

There is some merit to it though. A brief history:

Til 25 years ago or so italy was booming with SMBs.

Like family owned, small number of total employees per business but a shitload of them. And these people were artisans. Like experienced in what they do, skilled and so forth. Anything from pumps to sewing machines were well made and affordable.

So the quality was great and italy could make it on the export side as they could devalue their currency the lira against the other european currencies.

Enter the germans and the euro. Now you have italy basically subject to the same monetary rules as the germans. And it was sold as this great thing. Italy and their inflation trick meant debt was really expensive. High interest rates turned into cheap debt as Italy can now finance anything at the cheaper unified euro rates.

But this came at a price. The destruction of italy's SMB manufacturing. Now italy couldn't compete against the german efficient businesses that were larger and better equipped. Exports dried up, shops closed. But the brand names remained even though hard earned family busieness reputations went down the drink as manufacturing moved across the alps.

They've always been good at making weapons. Italians are famous for slaughtering and conquering, they remain the greatest Empire to ever exist.

They've been making guns for 400 years too, they've had a lot of time to figure things out.

Don't bother, you're arguing with a noguns jeet trying to farm (you)s so that he can buy his daily ration of cow dung.
>>
>>65000291
It's more correct to say that SMBs were prevalent due to Italy's geography that didn't allow for large industrial operations to be born. I remember my father being talking about when he was in Italy as a senior foreign advisor for Italy's civilian nuclear program and he always repeated how shocked he was that in a "big" nation like Italy, the places where a nuclear plant could be built ,before you even factor in public approval, just merely as a geographical suitability, could be counted on one hand. Either you had mountains, or more mountains, or more rocky terrain or massive aquifers.

Southern Italians are an arab people, they are not Romans and they are not Europeans. They are simply mudslime slaves that the Romans imported for menial farm labor 2000 years ago.
A sicilian looking like it's alien kindred in Syria is about as surprising as your asshole smelling like shit.

I have had the same question for a long time. Italian machinery has long been synonymous with unreliable horseshit, except for guns. The more time I spend with Italian guns the more I think that the 92 is doing the heavy lifting there. I think they genuinely struck gold with that design, and no other Berettas come.close.to the performance or reliability. No, not the Px4 or the APX, you're wrong. The rest are just boutique guns sold at a high price to the kind of guys who like buying Beretta hats and puffer jackets, the same sad old male menopausal queens who would wear a Porsche hat if they were car guys

Fabarms are tanks, but also really fine. (better trigger on a basic bitch fabarm than a remington bolt action)
The issue is with market positioning. Fabarm stuff is routinely placed as a mid tier proposition here in Europe that can punch way above its pricepoint.
Were you to import into the US the price would immediately double and go into semiauto territory. Americans wouldn't even buy them as we see the average american doesn't have a good judgement as they will pass on a PERFECTLY FINE maverick 88 or moss 500 for 100-500$ but will instead purchase a shitty turkshit potmetal shotty for the same price that will instead break after not even a box of ammo.

I was waiting for someone to post the Delta S4.

>be Lancia
>always have Abarth do the heavy lifting >cheat your way through homologation >build homologation cars as shitty as possible, cuz fuck 'em
>037 does okay against quattro, but see writing on the wall
>tell abarth to do it again, but this time remind them that you genuinely don't want your drivers to live
>delta S4
>decide roll cages are for pussies, so you should build them as worthless as possible, just like on the 037
>decide fire safety is also for pussies, so fuel tanks need to be as thin as physically possible and you need to place them directly under the drivers
>fire extinguishers were too heavy, so obviously they need to be installed empty
>car literally shakes itself apart and you have to rebuild the car after each rally
>engine fine-tuned to disintegrate at the end of each rally, sometimes a little earier
>cabin always unbearably hot from engine >composite floorboard constantly cracking causing the accelerator to get stuck
>rear bumper delete because you didn't know the car was going to go off-road
>realize the empty fire extinguisher bottles have a purpose, but fill them with NOS and conveniently forget to peel off the fire extinguisher stickers
>an absolute difficult monster to drive
>have your best and most experienced driver crash and literally blow up on the rally
>be the actual deciding factor to kill group b

>such a good reputation when everything else
Italian here and I'll try to summarize it, but I'm being not accurate for most of the cases: extremely lazy genius.
This is probably something about Italian mindset due to our lifestyle and various habits of our country, but it is not uncommon for us to be keen for something very specific and not overly high tech: firearms, exotic cars and motorbikes are a good example, sports and arts others, while we aren't good with stuff for example electronics and software. The "extremely lazy" part starts with being constant in things we make, because there you need disciplined group effort with moral attitude that people like the Germans or Japanese have while we simply don't.
This reflects on everything, from the stuff we make to the governments, but that's how we are. I really like to think that Italians are both their best allies and worst enemies of themselves, given the occasion: as another example we really like to sit back on our laurels once we make something good: Beretta took DECADES to make a decent polymer pistol after proudly introducing stuff that PEOPLE NEVER ASKED FOR like the PX4 and the 90Two and failing spectacularly, instead of make a good quality Glock clone admitting the Austrians got it right.
Same with the recent NARP (gas piston AR), they had to make that ugly plastic abortion of the ARX160 instead of doing what everyone was doing (or, at least, doing like HK) and make things right from the start instead of thinking they knew better with that plastic shit.

What is really terrible quality?

Their cars are cool and as far as supercars go they aren't all pretty delicate anyway. Lambos these days are more reliable than Mc.Larens or Rolls Royces...

Even their cheap car for poor people the FIAT is becoming relatively reliable. This Fiat 500s from decades ago still zoom around.

Vespas are very reliable. You have many of them with 60 years of constant use still going around today.

Food standards are near Nazi level, they even have a dedicated food police to go after anyone fucking around in the food industry.

The Italian M346 plane is probably the best trainer plane on the market.

Maybe their tanks aren't very good but they never were in combat so who knows.

Their ships are considered good and the US navy uses some Italian made ship parts for their vessels. No idea about their subs.

Clothes are top notch for quality of course.

For machinery Italy is also not bad. They even make the giga presses for Tesla factories.

Picking FIAT multipla amongst all the Italian car brands to say italian cars are shit is like picking the ZIP 22 gun to say Americans can't make guns.

But at least the multipla did its job as EU compliant fuel efficient stupid looking box car, for some reasons Italian taxis used that thing for a decade, I rode in one once it was very comfy I must admit, its like a drivable couch.

long traition of fire firearms since the 1600s , search for bescian flintlock, you get this in regions that were rich in Iron ore, coat deposits and water power in that era and this is their legacy, same with English fine shotguns, , soligen, the ruhr, bruno/cz etc etc.

I said OVERLY high tech, maledetto mongoloide che non sei altro, for example top end chip manufacture like Taiwan or USA. I know that we had stuff like ST Micro and good research centers and whatever but we'll never manage to get even at China level for sure.
>>
>>65007439
>for example top end chip manufacture
Quello è unicamente Taiwan, in quanto tutti gli altri sono fermi a 2-3 generazioni passate o quantità da POC. Ed il tutto è un'industria completamente differente dall'High end machining/manufacturing. Terrone bastardo. Viva il DUCE.
>>
>>65007208
>bescian flintlock, you get this in regions that were rich in Iron ore,
There are plenty of iron/coal/etc ore rich regions in the south, but 95% of all firearm brands (both historical and current) in Italy come from the Brescia. Firearm manufacturing has been only a northen italian thing.

>Scuttle it and make worthless Glock clone also without those things
>Isn't even compatible mag-wise with their replacement for the CX4, that absolute piece of shit cloned bracecuck pistol they stole from the czechs but made with a safety selector that goes the wrong direction and can cut through the glove you need to not get your hand slashed open

Italians being their own worst enemies continues with your suggestion anything Beretta has done in the last 5 years wasn't a massive fuckup that's pushing them out of the h&k and fn conversation and into being worse than Ruger at making budget wondernines.
>>
>>64985253
Multipla is unironically a misunderstood design masterpiece. Only NPCs fail to like its originality, habitability and welcoming/friendly shape.
