>A video, along with the plans, has recently surfaced showcasing “Project Canard,” an open-source, 3D-printed guided rocket system that recalculates its trajectory mid-air using a $5 sensor and some piano wire
>The entire launcher and interceptor frame are printed in standard PLA and run off an off-the-shelf ESP32 microcontroller.... The system even creates its own local Wi-Fi network, allowing the operator to monitor live telemetry and arm the “MANPADS” (Man-Portable Air-Defense System) prototype from a laptop. It uses a distributed camera node network to triangulate targets and update flight paths in real-time

I'm going to build one of these with a horse cock, and program it so that once it flies up, it performs a circle back behind me and shoots the horse cock up my own asshole, and with enough force I spin like sonic the hedgehog in the direction the centrifical force was heading. Lastly, a delayed spring activated release mechanism, upon impact, shoots a giant flag out from the horsecock and through my impaled body cavity, like the joke gun the joker uses, with the word "NIGGER" written on it. So once I'm done tumbling, the flag acts as a javelin that will use my bodyweight to plant itself into the ground with the flagpole sticking through me, and the word "NIGGER" flying graciously in the wind. I just need a time and a place for ultimate keks.

It's a neat hobby, but why do people pretend like this is some sort of weapon? It's barely a step up from airshit.

Edgy "hackers" and their communities live off of pretending to be relevant so they hype up literally everything even slightly subversive. These are people who watched way too many movies as a kid and believe that Tony Stark builds a tool in a shed that will make governments tremble. (While ignoring real solutions against tyranny like a truck full of ANFO).

It's all just vibes, aesthetics and content farming to get likes from some trannies with anime profile pics.

Homemade guns and plastic frames/furniture are both things that have been around for forever, combining the two was obvious. This isn't anything like that. GPS command guidance is a nonstarter for hitting a moving target, and his rocket motor isn't even close to viable. By the time he gets this thing able to hit a hovering drone half the time, it will be $1,000+. And by the time he gets 50% hit chance on a moving drone, it will cost $10,000+.
>>
>>64985132
the problem with these is you dontwant what youre using to stop a fighter or helicopter to be too cheap or it imght not work right, its better to pay alot of money for certainty, the stinger is a sure thing, you fire it youre gonna hit something, this thing, might hit might not, and you cant afford that amount of uncertainty when there is an aircraft wrecking your city with bombs and rockets

That seems like kind of a stretch goal for a ultra cheap manpad meant to be 3D printed.
Crawl before you run you know.
I'd say something equivalent to an older RBS-70 (though hopefully a lot smaller w/ modern electronics) or red-eye (if it's fire and forget) would be more achievable while also being just capable enough

>>64985132
Honestly this kind of makes me think there is indeed a point where I would draw the line for what civilians should be allowed to freely own and produce. If this thing were to get some upgrades, you'd have a publicly-accessible set of schematics, assembly instructions, operation instructions, all using common materials that are impossible to pinpoint. These systems would never be able to target US military aircraft, rendering them effectively null for the purposes of the 2nd Amendment, but would be able to target virtually any civilian aircraft at will. It goes beyond simple terrorism - the mere existence of such a system and a single incident would add permanent and irreversible risk to American logistics, which are heavily dependent on air travel. And risk, of course, creates cost and complexity. It would upend many of our customs - how many private helicopters would still be operating nationwide after some schizo shoots down his local news helicopter during a live broadcast?

As pointed out in the last thread, retard, this is basically just a proof of concept piece for the basic idea and that its claims about actual viability in regards to its performance, material components, and cost are incredibly optimistic while also requiring a massive investment in a static detection system in order to function. No one is saying it doesn't work, they're saying it's not actually a weapon system yet.

the biggest problem is still going to be getting reliable detonators for the explosive. the rocket motor, warhead, and even the guidance system is probably within the reach of the above average anti social. but commercial blasting caps probably wont cut it and are extremely difficult to obtain anyway
>>
>>64985886
certainly not suitable for high explosives but shotgun primers would probably be a start to get some testing done with something easier to ignite.

All you need is 1/16th inch/1.5mm cardboard tube. Maybe laminate it with some epoxy if it needs structure support for aero forces.

People make stratosphere sounding rockets for $50 out of cardboard and a motor, and the motor is 80% of the price if we aren't using weak ass "rocket candy"

Rocket hobbyists have to jump through ridiculous hoops to advance. Their hobby is by far the most internally scrutinized on the planet. They follow a system that is strikingly similar to that of earning a doctorate, and the bars to clear require a lot of money, time, and intelligence. The highest tiers of model rocketry are guys building and launching their own small launchers that can get to space. They don't fuck around, they are hyper autistic, hyper competitive, and often go and start their own rocket companies (or already work for one) at that point. Relativity Space was created by rocket hobbyists who went into finance.

Everyone in this thread so far has missed the point. This is a system that uses off the shelf components and 3d printing to work. Nice entrapment thread, glownigger.

Friendly reminder to all /k/ommandos:
Even thinking about building something like this is a HUGE felony in the US.
It doesn't have to be an actual destructive device with explosive or incendiary components.
ANY part of a guided missile AA system is illegal to possess, or attempt to possess, in the Land of the Free™.

>>
>>64986939
On a technicality a device like this doesn't apply to the US Code you cited, because as part (a)(1)(A) clearly states:
>an explosive or incindiery,
>rocket or missile
While I'm certain the use of such can be defined by some other section of US code, the one you picked only shows that you fail at the absolute most basic of reading skills.

The fact that they're calling it a Man Portable Air Defense System, is more than enough to classify this is a weapon system. Even if the individual missile doesn't have a warhead, it's still a guided AA missile. Possessing any part of such a system, or even "planning" on possessing such parts is incredibly illegal.

There's no doubt in my mind that the glowniggers would categorize downloading 3D files for something like this as "planning possession" and pursue criminal charges accordingly.

Barrel can outright be a nice piece of steel tube with a chamber cut into it, which you don't even need to rifle, but it's really not hard to do so (3D printing enables an extremely easy method to make a pretty decent rifled barrel at home).

>>64995515
I'm aware that it's possible to use a Glock barrel in an FGC-9. The claim was not that it's possible, but that an FGC-9 is just "a lump of melty plastic" without a Glock barrel (and Glock bolt, and Glock magazine).

Polymax PC (not other PCs as a general rule, they tend to be brittle) or whatever the designer recommends (if he has all of his fingers).

Yes, but so is just about everything else you might use. ABS/ASA and PLA are pretty much the only common filaments you can get away with not drying and even then a lot of people recommend drying them.

Isn't it one of those situations where it technically isn't a felony as long as you keep the warhead separate from the rocket just like it technically isn't a felony to own a gatling gun and a rotary motor, separately.
>>

reread the first 3 subclauses of (a)(1) which anon posted
>>
>>64985132
I saw that video too

It’s not that complex, it’s basically a model rocket motor with a fpv drone flight controller processor in it
They’re is no ordnance and the canards are 3d printed out of PLA so not exactly going to hold up in crazy cross wind

No military applications as an ESP32 is a Chinese made microprocessor

The NDAA compliant one is getting less and less support by teams like ELRS (drone telemetry team) and other hobbies

If you really want to scare soccer moms, slap this thing on a cinewhoop, throw some scrap smoke detectors on it and call it a 3D printed (dirty) nuclear aim9x rocket guided bomb fired from a drone gasp!

A PVC pipe could be argued as the start of an AA weapon made at home

Realistically this kid is just calling a model rocket toy with a flight controller in it a guided munitions system

It’s not

You guys remember building these balsa wood rockets in elementary school and launching them?

My dad bought me the sr71 blackbird kit

>>

Im a mediocre FPv freestyler, even I can put run this thing with a shitty 2S whoop and I don’t need to do anything crazy like what you see in Brando vids

>>
>>64985563
You know the people that own those satellites that you need to receive telemetry data from could like …. Not just let you have that data right?

Your super cool budget anti-air Esp32 micro processor and $50 gps unit controlled rocket will be stuck on retrieving gps data 0/12 satellites connected forever and lose telemetry instantly

“But hurr durr fiber optic ukraine” those are fpv drones that don’t require GPS modules manually controlled flight controller old fashioned esc setups

Saying that though there are probably 2 people in this thread that could fly an fpv drone

Read the documentation, dipshit.

It’s 2 pieces of round bar stock you JB weld into a housing, plus a few other finishing steps.

I know this is all just trolling, but idk what kind of point people think they’re making when they say it uses non-printed components, as if that says something about it’s bona fides as a DIY gun.

The compelling aspect of the design from a DIY standpoint is it doesn’t require (currently-) regulated parts.

The closest you come to relying on specialized parts are the fire control group components (solvable by buying airsoft versions or using a DIY design) or the barrel stock… several years on since the original FGC-9 was published, it’s safe to assume buying explosion-proof hydraulic tubing from Aliexpress or EBay will get you flagged by whatever .Gov agencies or payment processors keep tabs on gunmaking items.

Okay, so it doesn't use a Glock bolt, and the noguns was lying. I'm glad we're all on the same page.

Oh hey, I’m working on a submersible robot for college using this kind of tech, the localized wifi using esp32 to connect/disconnect with the mission station for remote activation followed by autonomous performance w/ WiFi torn down before establishing WiFi to transmit data back once it’s returned to the surface. Neat to see this stuff applied to real world scenarios.

Meaning in good working order
>>
>>64987452
My point was that on a legal technicality it would be the same as a Murder 1 charge put on someone who acted in self defense. An erroneous legal claim that doesn't fit the actual defined law.

The code cited clearly states
>an explosive/incendiery device which is a rocket/missile
While OP's high school project tier thing is clearly just a kinetic impact projectile, which does not fit our criteria of, relatively compared in legalese definitions,, "murder 1" as compared to "self defense".

This stuff matters. The actual definable circumstance matters in legal situations. To get my point across, the difference is no different than if someone had a permit for organizing a protest outside of a city's hall compared to just forcing in to a city hall and yelling their problems.

OP's device simply does not fit the US code you cited. And you've had 5 days to find a code which it would fit.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_rocket
>Since the early 1960s, a copy of the Model Rocket Safety Code has been provided with most model rocket kits and motors. Despite its inherent association with extremely flammable substances and objects with a pointed tip traveling at high speeds, model rocketry historically has proven[2][3] to be a very safe hobby and has been credited as a significant source of inspiration for children who have eventually become scientists and engineers.[4]
