Super hot gas flowing over guidance surfaces. Not thrusters.
>>
>>64994940
>against road
oh god, how jerusalem's road infrastructure ever handle this irreparable loss of a 10x10 meter slab of road surface.
>are those side firing steering thrusters
no, considering it's got a giant CEP and usually misses it's targets, i very much doubt that, plus that's not what RCS thrusters look like to begin with, it's just super hot plasma trailing off the extruding fins at the back of the warhead.
>>

>>
>>64994950
it doesnt seem like it was anywhere near fast enough for that, i feel like you'd see a similar effect at the tip.

but you're right in that it could be guidance surfaces and the 'glow' is just refracted sunlight in the right angle. still looks very strange

you're overcomplicating things for no reason in an attempt to sound smart, it's plasma, these things are not space capsules and they do not have an oblique front that quickly saps energy, it's re-entry plasma anon, that thing is still going quite fast.
>refracted sunlight

guidance surfaces create air vortices -> air vortices have highly varying refractive index compared to still air -> they can refract sunlight at different angles than surrounding air

could also be condensation in that area, you see the same thing in wing-tip vortices of commercial jets sometimes

yeah, not enough to generate a glowing effect dude, the glowing isn't noctilucent aka a twilight effect either, because then the whole warhead would be reflecting sunlight. this is also ignoring the fact that it's completely overcast and it's not getting hit with direct sunlight period.
idk what to tell you man, i've seen dozens and dozens of re-entries over different spacecraft in different trajectories, at different times, and in different wheather conditions, it's pretty obviously plasma.
>>
>>64994988
no, iranian ballistic missiles just have extremely bad CEP, i don't understand how people haven't accepted this yet.
yes, some get through, most of them do not hit their intended target because iran does not have a good GPS equivalent, if they did, it would get jammed, and inertial navigation is actually a very difficult technology to do well. as a result most of these things struggle to actually hit what they're aiming for, and damage to intended targets is either minimal or non-existent.

ragheads try to claim after this happens, that it's intentional terrorbombing and they actually want to hit random civvies, and jews agree with this narrative because it makes iran look more bloodthirsty, but the reality is iranian missiles just suck donkey dick and are doing fuckall in retaliation for all of iran's military infrastructure getting raped.

i say this as someone neutral who doesn't really care which way the war swings. ragheads just have trouble accepting that their missiles are mostly ineffective.
>>
>>64994957
That's still so fucking sad to see
and yet at the same time, it shows that defensive architecture was never just a meme
>>
>>64995014
You mostly are right anon however:
>and are doing fuckall in retaliation
Unfortunately you don't have to have a very good CEP if you're aiming at gigantic sprawling energy facilities that are by definition packed full of volatiles ready to go vroom in pipes all over the place. Iran has absolutely been doing major damage on that front, and I don't think a lot of people realize how long it takes to repair some of this stuff. If the war stopped today the world would be feeling the LNG damage alone until autumn. There are knock on effects as well that are non-intuitive. Nearly all of the super pure helium used in Asian silicon fabrication is a byproduct of ME natural gas production for example. Nobody has year long buffers of that sort of thing. It'll take a good while for all the ripples to fan out from the sources and the exact time period matters a lot but Iran has definitely accomplished pretty major economic damage already.

And if the US really wants to do some of the goals Trump has claimed it's clearly going to take a ground war.

>someone captured the warhead before impact, why does it look like that? are those side-firing steering thrusters?

This is a superb photo, the kind of photo a photographer dreams of taking.

What you see is the manuvering fins on the warhead trying to change its course. You can see this in some incoming warhead videos, if it is filmed with a good camera (not a shitty cellphone) you can see the warhead occasionally trail a lightstreak of hot glowing air which is what you see here. The glow is from electrons recombining with atomic ions after having been ripped off from friction with the control fins. This recombination releases energy as electromagnetic radiation.

Here's how we can all tell you're lying, "dude". Plasma starts to form at the very front of a high-speed object and flows back over the re-entry vehicle. you anons don't know it but I grew up studying Islamic history
you should see the amount of circumlocutions they go through in the official "moderate" syllabus, the history rewriting is amazing, worse than anything Japan writes about comfort women
their justification for killing the Qurayza is mainly that they were not living according to the Prophet's wishes, they claim the Qurayza were happy to be warcrimed and accepted their executions, and claim that the women were not raped but were happily married and converted
>>
>>64997151
They didn't just have more land, they had the good stuff too. A big chunk of the Jewish side was the Negev desert, which is an uninhabitable shithole even by the standards of the ecological mess that was Colonial Palestine. with an oblique shape like a capsule? sure, with a very aerodynamic shape like this it's protrusions like fins that are going to be the things forming bow waves.

there is no light source, there is no direct lighting on the rocket nor the exhaust, and vortices do not glow white/yellow hot and then trail off quickly after.

it's re-entry plasma, you're a dipshit.

Adiabatic heating has nothing to do with friction
>>
>>64999344
the inverse is happening here, people will tell you that re-entry heating is caused by surface friction, but this is wrong, skin friction is the main source of atmospheric heating on a craft up until about mach 3, after that, compressive heating takes over. at high mach numbers, the main source of heating is caused by air being compressed to a tiny percentage of it's original volume, thus concentrating all the heat energy of that gas into an incredibly tiny space, which starts to ionize due to the extreme temperature and turn to plasma. what's more, most of the heat that this plasma transfers to the craft is not conductive heating, but radiative, the extremely large amount of radiative heat the compressed plasma produces is the main thing heating spacecraft and ballistic warheads on re-entry.

>It may not be possible to deliver munitions like this via ballistic missile
it is possible, the original ATACMS was basically an SRBM that delivered 300 M74 bomblets with a short delay fuze
the ~10% failure rate of the fuze made those bomblets essentially a very unreliable
>time delay and anti disturbance
but they could, had the Army wished, have manufactured some with actual proper extended time delay fuzes
or even built a missile which scattered AP mines, picrel
>>
So where do we go from here, BMs were used in:
>WW2
>War of the Cities
>Gulf War
>Ukraine war
>Israel-Hezbollah war seasons 2-3
>Israel-Iran war seasons 1-4
They fired them in single digit numbers spread out over days. fired them on mass 200-400 at a time. And doesn't seem like they managed to produce any meaningful operational effect. Sure the opposing side had to invest time and resources in to hunting them and provide active and passive protection. so short of prohibitively expensive investments in terminal guidance doesn't seem like conventional ballistic missiles offer a good ROI.

you can field a hundred ATACMS but if you have no air cover, no infantry, no IFVs, you're still gonna lose
>>
>>65000676
They're essentially terror weapons, suitable only for harassment rather than actual battlefield effect. Every so often you get someone asking why they don't outfit ICBMs with conventional warheads, and this is exactly why. It's just way too much of an investment for far too little of an effect.
>>
>>65000693
>BMs with conventional warheads
are good for, in the US Army's paraphrased words, virtually guaranteeing a kill on something really important really quickly

>doesn't seem like conventional ballistic missiles offer a good ROI.
Depends. For very small missiles (like GMLRS) you can get an excellent ROI because they allow you to hit valuable targets fast and hard at a reasonable cost and from a comfortable distance but as the size of the missile increases the ROI falls off of a cliff. Disregarding the cost of the payload itself an LGM-30G can deliver ~6000lb on target at a cost of $40,000,000 while a Super Hornet can deliver four GBU-31s (8000lb) at a cost of ~$10,000 per flight hour.

It's not about ROI, thirdies love missiles because it lets them pretend that they have power projection for relatively cheap. They hate finding out that you do indeed get what you pay for, and Uncle Sam is paying a fuckload more than they are. I think that's why the cope has gone from
>our missiles will wipe out anyone that dares to try us!
to
>look at how much money they're wasting while they destroy all of our military equipment!
See also: the seething about the US looking at a lawnmower drone and going "oh hey we can make those way cheaper and faster because money"

Honestly it's been kind of interesting seeing the patterns the shills form, they lie so consistently they're basically just telling the truth backwards. If I haven't been listening to the news at work I usually figure out when, where, and how iran/palestine/lebanon/russia/browns in general got clowned on as soon as I see a bunch of obvious bullshit spewed on the front page here.

The fortress sat as a tourist piece for ages. And then finally it came time for it to be used for its purpose again. And it did its job admirably. It got chewed to hell and yeah its sad to see something that has lasted all this time chewed apart like that. But I would much rather see a fortress like that be destroyed serving its purpose once again, rather than through the slow decay of neglect.

While in reality the fastest growing demographic in Israel are fucking Arab Muslims, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is falling apart, yet anytime Israel tries to repair the mosque the muslims chimp the fuck out. The Jordanians tried, but the Palestainians rioted and demanded that they should receive the resources and control over every religious site in Jerusalem, and everyone said no.

If you wanted to win, come prepared. We are week 4 into their leverage being utilized. Iran required competent war planners and above all a strategy. There was neither. As much as Iran is a plague there is reality to contend with. The blood required to resolve this is extreme. These are not iraqi soldiers or alqaeda fighters. Their streets carry the names of their martyrs and they are 92.000.000 strong.

Their mountains are hollow and filled with munitions to last a generation.. the hornets nest you poked is dangerous beyond belief and it needs respect, something your leadership is incapable off.

Only way this ends well is diplomacy.

For those 4 weeks US focused only on military targets. If they lose hope of regime change they will start bombing Iran's power and oil infrastructure until their economy completely collapses. Iran will do the same to gulf states in retaliation but the biggest losers of that will be the gulf states, China and Europe, only strengthening relative US position.
Even if the regime somehow survives all this it will take them 20 years to get back up.

Meanwhile, we are barely mentioning individual strikes on Iran because there are so many we cannot keep count.
>>
>>65013939
they do his the target their target are just centers of cities
one of the big shifts from the first iranian missile wave in 2024 is then all the missiles were on military bases and all they did was damage 1 warehouse and a taxiway in an airbase with most of their missiles falling on empty land or being intercepted. iranians concluded army bases are too spread out and isolated for their missiles to cause any damage so they just fire on cities now where even if intercepted the debris will hit some car or building

they dont have any actively aimed missiles its just dumb rockets. irgc is a poor third world terrorist organization just like hamas and hezbolah that cant act against armies so they just bomb cities instead.

this is why after 1 year of direct israel-iran combat, 1400 ballistic missiles, 2000 drones launched there is 0 IDF KIA. while IRGC KIA is in the 5 digits with their entire leadership wiped multiple times.
