A thread for those making handmade modifications to their guns. Custom grips, engravings, mods, accessories, etc. This was probably the easiest gun to try my hand at making grips. They turned out pretty decent.
bump.cool gun, but you forgot this is the new current thing board now. we've moved on from the less-current current thing.
I cut the muzzle nut off my WASR a couple months ago
>>64996686Crudely filed some finger grooves into my grips; still needs some work.
>>64996686what did you use for the clear part? Resin?I have like three guns that could use a handmade clear grip and dont have shit like frame geometry or trigger bars in the way but my attempts with the plastic plexiglass sheets from the home depot haven't worked. Either the sheet is too thick and doesnt cut right or its too thin and snaps.I want some clear grips but i also dont want to invest in pouring molds and vacuum chambers to make them clear.
>>64999415It's 1/4th inch plexiglass from Amazon, which is close to the same thickness of the original panels. I'm planning on doing a write up with lots of pictures on my process for it, I'll post a link here if the thread survives a few days.
>>65000061Did you make those grip panels yourself, or did you buy them from Amazon?
yeah, I got something i just finished
I did a custom field mod on my light thingy, but it still didn't fit my shit.
>>65000077
>>65000077Forgot about this one too
>>65000061Ah yes Gabby poster>>65000066AI, angel hare.desu,I'm preconditioned to have Jim' Hardiman's girls or Sheila Vixen for my taste.
>>65000061I thought it was fanart of pic rel.My failed city government has a program called Safe City Initiative that basically rolls out the red carpet for more homeless fent zombies. Should I crudely carve Safe City Initiative into my Taurus 856?
>>65000202>Should IWhy not?
Bump
>>64999396Next time, use sandpaper. It makes much nicer grooves and you can use your own finger to size the groove rather than grinding at it like a barbarian.
>>64996686>>65000061I’m more curious where you get the photos. Print them at home? I’m not a boomer so I don’t have a printer. And there’s no chance in hell I’d try printing that at work.
>>65003179Doesn't CVS still have walk up photo printers?
>>65003179dude, I don't know how fluent you are in internet images, But this image was created by a particularly interested individual who used AI and then used a normal printer over a photograph paper Gabby wouldn't wan you to be a misdirection, would they
>>65003211> then used a normal printer over a photograph paperThat’s what I was curious about>>65003185Good idea. I’d feel awkward as fuck trying to do that at CVS or Walgreens but it’s not like I ever shop there so idk
>>65003247>awkward as fuck trying to do that at CVS or WalgreensIt's not like it's 8.5"x11" gay porn, cowboy.
>>65003179OP here, I printed mine via my home inkjet printer on regular copy paper using IrfanView (great image viewing program btw); set it to a high DPI and scaled it to slightly bigger than my grip panel so I didn't have any white from the paper.
>>64999415>>64999644>>65003308As promised, here's my low effort writeup:https://hhi.neocities.org/SP101_Grip_tutorial
>>64999415>I want some clear grips but i also dont want to invest in pouring molds and vacuum chambers to make them clear.NTA but oh anon, you just wait. Before you know it you'll have both in your cart with your mouse over the "place order" button looking at your old air compressor. Oh also resin is a bitch and stays pliable for far too long and is heat sensitive for a little while. Also nowhere near as resistant to deformation as you want. Nor as hard as expected. Plexi and sanding and polishing is the way to go there.I'm far too gone and have already jumped into that world. Now it's materials spec sheets, acceptible additive %s, colorants, and fillers for me. At least I didn't have to spend $50 on a used trigger guard, though! I only needed a $150 vacuum pot for the silicone, a $130 pressure pot, $??? for the compressor, $45 for the respirator, $50 for the silicone, $40 for the resin, $20 for the colorants, and a little bit more to buy a couple different materials to find which worked best! Oh and a spare trigger guard that wasn't broken, can't forget that! No regrets btw.
>>65000077As a Biomedical plastics engineer this shit is baffling, why not just get a heatgun and reshape the plastic body or something less retarded?
>>65005344I don't know that the glass fiber nylon would be pliable in the ways that you'd really want for that, and it probably wouldn't look all that much better.
>>65001244That would probably look better on a M9 with wood grips.
I welded up a slant receiver M77 and made a stock and grip out of scrap wood.
>>65006202Fucking nice. Gonna make matching handguards too?
>>65006202Kinda cool.
>>65006207I will probably try at some point. They are a lot thinner than the stock or grip though, so I am waiting until I have some better quality scrap wood.
>>65006215Post pics some day if you do.Also it would be cool with some kind of bayonet, if you're willing to fuck with that.
>>65006202Honestly want to build one of those pashtun 8x57mauser underfolder aks from the bits I've acquired but using the plentiful mg13 magazines apex threw out. it seems the PSL bolt carrier and piston may have been overkill. apparently ther actions are the same size as an M70 yugo ak but the magazine lug is moved forward and the bullet guide is modified.anywho news to me
>>65005344So that glass nylon mix REALLY doesnt like to deform, so the next option is to put material on it that can be shaped before hardening. Here's the full lineup of our collective horrors.
>>65008099I will defend your right to do what you did to that unbullpupped AUG to my dying breath. But man. Fuck you.
Nickel plated the monstrosity of a police confiscation in the background. Some junky originally had the engravings filled in with gold glitter and colored the rest in silver metallic sharpy. Also dressed up that pig of a Ruger 57 in a 3d printed chassis I'm working on. Printing off angled grip mag holder right now. Pretty sure my dimensions are all good. Then dropping it on odyssey later this week. Took the lame ass Ruger 57 I had laying around and now have a fun as tits 5.7 NATO carbine. Added bonus, the Ruger 57 goes for $350 on sale and the Ruger 57 carbine is like $700. Ligma balls Ruger.>>65006657Get a m76 and mill it out for an under folder?
>>65003247>I’d feel awkward as fuck trying to do that at CVS or Walgreens Bruh, you're at CVS. The bar is already low. Be awkward as fuck, own it. I'd use to drive my friend to CVS so he could get pregnancy test kits for his gf back before Amazon was a thing. When it was his turn to pay, I'd always obnoxiously be like, "I keep telling you, I can't get pregnant, I'm a dude."
>>65008099Bubba would be proud.
>>65000077>>65005344(double checked) Good ideas between the two of you here. For anon using JB Weld, I have to wonder if a colorant could be added to hide the fix. Weaker maybe but as a skim/finish coat it'd work well. Use caulk tools to get a nice smooth chamfer in the corners. As for heat anon, that's a little tough as you have to have it in a very slim temp range in a small section and go slow. Very easy to fuck up by heating even a quarter second too long. Alternatives I thought of is solvent welding but that's difficult with nylon and still needs material added. However, spin welding is something you can look into for future mods. Might even be able to build up material and it requires little more than a Dremel and some nylon 3D printer filament straightened out with heat. Rods or 3mm filament may be better than 1.75 but they're not as plentiful. There used to be spinwelding toys made in the 60s-80s IIRC.
>>65008515>monstrosityThat pistol is beautiful.
>>65008515Yeah nah that m9 or (not a) m9 looks good, reminds me of the guns in Romeo and Juliet
>>65009552Yeah it's my favorite Beretta I have. Since I had it torn apart to nickel it. swapped out all the tiny bits and springs for it to run smoother. Not as accurate and smooth as the current Beretta 92 sao, but all the effort I put into it.>>65009678>Romeo + Juliet and their swordsIt's a Frankenstein .The frame was trashed and I had a spare m9a1 frame laying around. Checked serial on one of the original parts I could find and it dated back to the late 80s. Had the original gen 1 locking wedge. Swapped it out for whatever current gen locking wedges are. Picture of what the finish on it was originally when I got it.
>>65009836Whoever had it before it ended up at police auction was named BOT.
>>65009846>dremal engravingThat's really pretty bad.
>>65009853Oh it's bad. No denying it. Yet strangely mesmerizing.
>>65008099plz be AI
>this whole fucking thread
>>65008515I don't necessarily want an underfolder, I just have a lot of 8mm mauser and some bits and pieces of yugo ak's id like to cobble together.I wonder if the ejector is still in the same spot?
>>65009946>wonder if the ejector is still in the same spot?Like on a m76 in comparison to other big boy AKs? If so I'll drag out my M76 to compare to a M77 on where it is between 8mm mauser and 308 this weekend when got time. Will post on akg if this thread dead.
>>65010121well shit, you're awesome, i'll stay posted
>>65010132No prob. Tism has me focused on this Ruger 57 at current moment. Let me know if want any other measurements. When I rebuilt the m76, I think hardest part to source was the m76 barrels from green mountain. Everything else could piece meal on gunbroker or the ohio dude that makes m76 in 30-06 (or 308?) if emailed them
>>65010132edit; are the big boy ak's the same length as normal AKs, I know the m77 has the same length as the regular m70, but the Pashtuns are building under folding Bulgarian AK's that use zb-37 magazines
>>65000061why did yo use an ai pic niggerfaggot
>>65010169You're right, i should have used the official art of Angel Gabby in a playboy bunny outfit with sex-torn stockings done by the original character designer instead!
>>65011579or just pay an artists like 15 bucks to draw it for you.
>>65011683I did.Me, an AI artist, paid myself at least 15 dollars in whiskey sours as i hand-generated Angel Gabby dressed as the virgin mary for my second attempt
>>65011728ok wow thanks for clarifying you black ass fuckin nigger
>>65011802Fuck you useless art bitch. Go learn a real trade instead of crying about robots drawing better than you.
>>64996686Been awhile but I removed the rail from a Hudson grip module. I think it looks way better without it
classic imageI havent looked but im pretty sure the white frames have been discontinued for like five years
>>65011728>whiskey soursbased, fuck the haters
>>65008099
>>65011728>he also goes out of the way to mention whiskey very interesting i am studying this type of subhuman, do you also have a funkopop?
>>65011835excellent work from the local handgun wizard as expected>>65011728I'm a homemade 4 loko type myself.new trigger plate for the spencer bannerman shotgun arrives tomorrow, I'm not going to have any luck sourcing the magazine tube or the wood pump forend supporting tube, at least I found a guy who'll make a new stock.
>>65012705No. But I have an enormous and well used porn collection on VHS. Very well used.
>>65000128>Jim' Hardiman's girls or Sheila Vixen
>>65000061>didn't make the grip panels himself>AI generated the image for himNone of your gun is handmade, why are you posting in this thread? Just to be a faggot?
>>//65014224>didn't make the grip panels himself>cant see the drill marks and the scrapes on the top of the grips to fit the detent barlol
>>65010151Side by side photos incoming. Digging out the AKs before I start chopping up my Beretta cx4 storm.
>>65015944>M72>M77>M76Parts kept in that order for top to bottom. M72 and M77 same length receiver. M76 definitely longer receiver. Paper tube marked for lengths of receivers
This thread makes me feel like it was by sheer coincidence that humanity was able to touch the stars.
>>65015996Bolts and bolt carriers. They get beefier and longer
>>65016001Ejectors and trigger components much further back on m76 with the longer cartridge
>>65016013>M77 magazine>M76 magazineMagazine for comparisons. Anything else let me know. I've rebuilt the m76 having to rebarrel it. Got it at pawn shop for reeal cheap since previous person was lobbing 7.62nato out of it and the barrel was gouged to shit with the 7.62 rounds tearing chunks out of it as they were bouncing off the sides.
>>65015998Totally. Just imagine that the EU and turd world has to be so much more retarded than the Soviets and Americans as they are still playing catch up to Soviets and Americans even decades later.
>>65015996>>65016001>>65016013>>65016026thanks man, now it makes me wonder if my dad still has those old programs for replacement side plate pieces still on his old Tree mill
>>65016038No problem. Always happy to contribute useful content instead of the usual board being overrun with turdies and demoralizers that spew gun culture is dead, stop buying or making guns
Gun culture is dead and most manufacturers are out of business. You will have to make your own guns once they are illegal, so start practicing now.
>>65017846>You will have to make your own guns once they are illegal, so start practicing now.>Gun culture dead>Build your own>Barrel ban is no more and new exotic kits are inBruhv, outside of shitty surplus being unavailable, everything else has gained a lot and become mainstream. Not sure what your idea of gun culture is dead unless this the new meta turd worlders are pushing.
>>65017936He's either schizophrenic or retarded.
>>65018016>or ironical
Shaved the finger grooves off and under cut the trigger guard a bit. This was before the Gen 5 that came out without the groves. I always hated finger groves. I have some stuff in the trigger as well, can't remember since it was like 10 years ago. Still feels like a staple gun. I really want to get into the M&P 10mm but I got 20 plus mags for the 40 (and 41 that I have) plus mag extensions. We are talking a lot of money to switch.
>>65018052>I'm so invested in this and they haven't made what I wanted just get, well fuck me running they just released it.That's why I have half the mods I got.
