My father is pushing 80 and wanted to hand me down his guns yesturday (he afriad my selfish mother wont go through with his wishes, so he wanted to make sure i got them).Aparently my grandfather did a lot of work on 3 of these guns.He did a lot of custom wood work for guns way back in the day.The 3rd gun, the 270, my grandpapa built the stock from a chunk of peacon wood all by hand.I want to know what you guys think?Anybody else want to share some guns passed down to you?
>>65001270We can tell anon, 3rd gun wood has nice "chatoyancy"What's the story, were any of them used for home defense to kill someone? Any riots? KKK?
>>650012791st gun is a 870, 2 barrels (long barrel not pictured), used for home def with short barrel.2ng gun is a norinco AK 47, looks brand new but older3rd gun is a 270winmag was used for huting/long distand shooting fun4th is a bolt action 22. used to teach me how to shoot as a young lad
>>65001270Passed down guns are a real joy. Glad you got some fun pieces with a bit of personal family history to them. Doesn't necessarily mean they're worth much on the general market but such things can be worth a lot to you personally and be pretty cool over generations. I have one levergat in 33wcf from my great great grandfather, doesn't have any stunning history, got some bears and such over the decades, but mostly I just love the nice work of the thing and feeling the weight of the men of the family before me and the things they did. I look forward to passing it onto my son down the road in turn.
>>65001279As for Riots or KKK, no... Dad was drafted in Nam @19 years old, worked for law inforcement after that till retirement, so no crime.
Did you legally transfer those firearms with a background check through an FFL?
>>65001304for sure MR ATF
>>65001309Good answer kid. Just remember all firearms regulations/laws are unconstitutional.
>>65001304PAPIERE BITTE
>>65001270Don't ever let anyone get ahold of them.
>>65001270>I want to know what you guys think?I think they're some nice rifles. What is the base action for the .270? It looks like a Remington 700ADL from here.>some guns passed down to you?My father has 100+ rifles, shotguns, and handguns and will only accumulate more until the day he dies, and I am his sole heir. Assuming that I do inherit this hoard of guns to add to my own, I'll keep the ones to which one or both of us had some sentimental attachment, but the other's I'll sell at a big auction because that was dad's hobby and I grew up going to auctions with him and I think he'd get a kick out of having a memorial auction in his name. Pic related is one that I'll keep: a 1965-vintage Steyr-Schoenauer "MCA" sporter in .280 Remington. This is a gun neither of us have ever even shot but the events of the day when he bought this one –to my knowledge, the most he has ever spent on a firearm– remain etched in my memory as one of the most fun memories with dad I can ever recall.
>>65001270That is a very solid and well rounded old-school collection.Classic 870s are solid.Norinco MAK-90s are very well made and solid. If the stock gets uncomfortable there are some options to swap it out. The thumbhole setup on them is less than stellar. The 270 (Remington? Savage?) looks pretty good and the story with the handmade stock is really cool. It is an excellent versatile caliber as well with great ammunition availability. If you intend to hunt with it you might want to upgrade the scope though, there are far better options available today. The 22 appears to be a Remington 511 single shot which is also a good shooter. The only guns that I might inherit one day are those I gifted my dad. An SKS, an RIA 1911 and a Hi-Standard Victor.>>65001304Not necessary in most states. Even in California a gun can be passed parent to child or vice versa with no background check.
>MAK-90 your grandpa is cool as fuck>>65001545agreed, this is a great lineup. congrats anon
>>65001545I kinda like the odd wood AK stock, feels better than my other AK that has magpul crap on it.The 270 is a remington, id love to get a better scope and get into some long distance shooting with it.
>>65001545Technically you have to fill out BOF 4544A with the recipient's information and CA DOJ does a DROS background check that way. If the recipient comes back as a prohibited person DOJ sends a letter telling them to immediately surrender the firearms to local LE or they will basically get the DOJ party van showing up at their place with an arrest warrant.
>>65001270Top three and bottom right revolver are gramps. I’ve smoked rabbits with the shotguns and can’t hit the side of a barn with the beretta. The gewehr 12/34 is a rare among rare, they only made like 30k and most were 1939 or 1940. That one is 1938, has like six Nazi eagles stamped on it.Dad gave me the mav88 for my 12th birthday and I spent three years learning that I hate duck hunting. 30-30 was the deer gun that every kid shot a deer with and I was the last kid so I just got to keep it. The 30-06 vanguard I got after pops died and it has an airsoft scope on it because he put the Nikon scope on his BB gun to shoot squirrels and nobody noticed until after the estate sale. Only reason he bought the gun was because he had enough cabelas points on his card that it was free. Thanks dad.
>>65001452>scope that much higher than the ironseww>>65001294>>65001270that barrel on the 870 must be old if it's got rifle sights but isn't rifled. Like early 1980s or pre 1980s
>>65001270Nice haul, it always makes sense to give stuff away while you're still ali5and then you'll be thanked
>>65001270That Chinese AK rifle is keeper, don't ever sell that. Rest can be sold given they're common if that's your choice.
>>65001820Not the 270, the stock handmade by his own father and you think the ak is the thing to keep lmao
most the wood ones were from my dadsporterized Enfield mk4Kragthompson center BP rifleturk 12g OUChinese single shot 12gNorinco clone of a browning SA-22he wasn't as into guns as I am and mostly just bought them cheap or traded with guys from work
>>65001822Norinco rifles can't be imported anymore therefor more rare to find.
>>65001858I learned to shoot on the SA22 clone but the stock is cracked right behind the receiver, want to make a new stock myself but I don't have a workshop
>>65001868becoming rare, surebut how many people are out there searching for a Chinese AK?
Got my grandpas 30-06 model 70 when he passed a few years back. Hands down my favorite gun in my collection.
>>65001982is that a flip up rear peep or does it have a front sight and no rear sight?
The majority of the guns I've inherited/stand to inherit are Savages. I have a Savage 30-30(340A) bolt, a 16ga double barrel 16 ga, and a combo .22/.410. I guess that means my family has always been poor?I've also been given a nova 3 turkey gun, and a Remy 700 with an atrocious montecarlo stock. Its from the 70s and i always wonder if its going to go off taking it off safe.Still got my dads stuff, half of which i bought for him, but I'm in no hurry at all to get my hands on them. I know not everyone has a good relationship with their family, but try and cherish them if you can.
>>65001883You'd be surprised, people that like AK's like norincos, they pay out the ass for polytech legends too
My first gun was my grandpas old GP100. Got it as a graduation gift to kick off my collection. Shoots like a dream and I keep it in pristine condition.
>>65002378To add, I don’t know if offloading counts as inheriting, but my uncle also handed down some rifles to me when he learned I started collecting. He apparently had been stacking pallets of ammo and surplus for ages, but he’s considering moving out of the country with his wife, and their kids apparently can’t even be trusted with scissors. So as on of the only nephews that actually stays in touch he’s been tossing me guns. Including >M1 Garand, along with 4 cases of 30-06 already in clips >M1 Carbine and a can of .30 carbine >stock AR15 and a can of green tips >blank upper and lower that he did the whole 80% then drill out the rest, he’s pretty handy with metal and wood workingHe definitely jump started my collection and I still have most of the ammo. I don’t shoot too often so it’s been sustaining me nicely.
>>65001270If that ask is full auto in envy you op
>>65001452Beautiful.
>>65002392Nice pair.
>>65002880Thanks. They are my pride and joy
>>65001858Is that a Kingpin maglock? California?
>>65003295Thats pretty damn nice man!>>65002392Sweet come up from the uncle....how do those shoot?>>65001858that enfield tho...nice manHeres a picture of my shit with my dads stuff...his is old school, high quality and mine is budget stuff...funny how things change over time.
>>65001656>Dad gave me the mav88 for my 12th birthday and I spent three years learning that I hate duck huntingYou started at 12? Wow
>>65004235>That LCR on the bottom right Interlinked
>>65004286Thats my EDC, super easy to carry in my 110 degree weather
>>65001270Mak90 is pure sex anon never sell it
my grandpas luger he brought back with him.
>>65001270>The 3rd gun, the 270, my grandpapa built the stock from a chunk of peacon wood all by hand.ah lovely
>>65004235They shoot like a dream. The M1 carbine out shoots my AR every time, no matter how much bias conditions I give to the AR. I can stand shoot the M1 while bench shooting the AR with a scope, and the M1 still smokes it. And the Garand hit a 500 yard shot on the first try. Guns were better when autists in automobile factories made them.
>>65003338no just the lighting, but it did have a bullet button in that photoI no longer live in NY
>>65004235I don't feel too bad about the Enfield, a lot of them came into the country sporterizedit's not like it was a WWII gun that got bubba'd here in the states
You are so lucky to have a based granddad.
>>65004301Good choice, within cells interlinked
>>65001772>barrel on the 870 must be old if it's got rifle sights but isn't rifledThat's a police barrel. Remington made tens of thousands of them from 1970d through the early 2000s. Newer ones are all 3in chambers, like about 90/92 onwards, older ones are usually 2-3/4, but some "police magnum" marked 3in barrels go back to the 70s.
>>65004274Started deer earlier than that. He’d drag me out to the middle to nowhere, blast a deer, and do it all over again during regular season. I was the legal tag dispensary until I hit college. Same thing applied for fishing and catch limits
>>65001858...thats a redhawk isn't it?
>>65001656That looks like a beretta stampede. Marshall variety?
>>65009398>$1000 revolver in my poorfag collectionnah, that's a Pietta 1858
>>65012267I missed the brass trigger guard, my bad. Also, you have an awesome gun collection anon.
>>65009419Think so, wish the barrel was longer
>>65001270I'm glad to hear it, anon. My rich white baby boomer libshit father inherited a WWI era Browning Auto-5 from my ex USMC great grandfather and cut in in half and welded it to an art car. Needless to say we don't talk much.
>>65015413Jesus Christ that’s grim
>>65004425Well looked after anon
>>65002378Comfy
>>65001868They can, just not legally
>>65017013Thanks. It’s such a good revolver. Stupid accurate and very comfy to shoot. The other I was lobbing .38 special at 100 yard steels for shits and giggles.
