In a hypothetical societal collapse / civil unrest what sidearm would you want to depend on.

Consider spare parts, ammo availability, uniformity, and other bullet points not mentioned in this post.

>>65004428
leave it to the authorities

best bet is an AR, a 12 gague shotgun, a 270 or a bolt action 22 with a silencer. A 44 mag revolver and a backup pair of percussion guns (shotgun/revolver)
Guns are tools each has a different apllication that depends on location, threat etc.

A 9mm pistol is very little use to a rancher.

SOCOM uses Glocks. They have an incredibly long track record and they are like the most populous civilian sidearm.

this is a retarded take. whites will solidify and do what we do best. war. many, many weak will die as usual and its for the best. the cities will burn, and the worthless wreches that survive will spread like a cancer through the spwarl I to the countryside and will be exterminated through inability, disiease/injury, weather and violence.

In a collapse there would mass starvation. You would not be free to be left alone. People coming to take your shit would march emaciated hostages at gunpoint through your "defenses". Unless you live a cave in the middle of no fucking where or plan on existing in a fraidy hole you are delusional.

SOCOM has used Glock 34/17/19s, SIG P226/228/229s, Beretta 92s, HK Mark 23s, SIG P320s, S&W Model 39s (they called them the Mk 22), 1911s, etc. If it mattered that much to you, then you'd know that they are using the SIG P320 right now and pick that garbage.

>/k/ommandos, What is the actual best “go to war” pistol for armed civil conflict
Whichever one you choose for armed civil conflict is okay. It's, like, the kind of headphones you buy when you listen to Lady Gaga, it's more about your vibe and if it matches your whole aesthetic. Don't let anyone pressure you into, like, buying a gun that doesn't align with your personal war / armed civil conflict journey.

The pistols in service longest with SOCOM, by far, are the 1911, Standard Series and the Security Six/GP100 series. These had been in service for longer with SOCOM when the Glock came into service than the Glock has been in service today.
>>
>>65005805
>they've used Glocks for longer
The gun they've used for the longest is the 1911. In fact, it is still in use by them, so I'd say you are the one who is seething and coping.
>so keep coping
That's a weird way to respond to my first message in this thread; to keep doing something implies that I was doing it before the message in question. Just because many messages are coming your way doesn't mean they are all from the same person; grow up.

I was in error here and was actually thinking of the Model 10.

Although the Six/GP100 series probably also has a longer service life with SOCOM than the Glock, it hadn't been in service for longer than the Glock has now before the Glock was adopted.

NTA. I may not agree with all of his takes on guns...
>He's constantly fanboying over KelTec even in the videos where they fail his tests.
>That man caves at the sight of a gun bunny, he'd suck off any company that brought attractive women to gun shows. He's a slave to his lust.
>Instead of making videos on his watches and knives he'd rather dedicate 10-15 minutes of his gun videos to nongun content.
>He was among the first people to call a modular rifle a "weapon platform." "OMG it has a picatinny rail, look at this weapon platform that could take a red dot, ACOG, or an LPVO."
... but I can appreciate that he convinced many Gen X and Millennial NoShoots to just shoot their guns every once in a while.
>>
>>65006102
>He's constantly fanboying over KelTec even in the videos where they fail his tests.
My Brother in Christ, that's what we all do. It's like how a car enthusiast will probably recommend a used Toyota Corolla to a relative who needs a car, but finds them boring and is disinterested for all the same reasons they'd make that recommendation. Keltec makes interesting and fun guns, so gun enthusiasts cut them a lot of slack on quality and reliability, but would never actually organisationally procure them or recommend them to a non-enthusiast.

Keltec probably could make something minimally novel and minimally innovative that met or exceeded general standards, that we wouldn't need to cut any slack or make excuses for, but we wouldn't even notice it existed and if it's all they made then we wouldn't be talking about Kektek right now at all.
>>
>>65006145
>but would never actually organisationally procure them or recommend them to a non-enthusiast.
He does both of those things. He constantly endorses the KelTec Sub2000 (for free) to non-enthusiasts even though it had many problems in all three chances he gave that design. The fact is that the company could also make interesting stuff that works reliably. Interesting and functional are not mutually exclusive.
>>
>>65006157
I'm going to be real with you, I don't watch guntubers or any kind of parasocial youtube, so I have no clue what nutnfancy does and also don't really care. You are probably right and it's egregious and indefensible shit, I just assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that he was doing the thing every other gun enthusiast does with Kektec.

The best go-to-war pistol is a rifle in an intermediate caliber. That space and weight you save by not carrying a pistol gets filled by 2 extra magazines for the aforementioned rifle. Hope this helps.

>>65006375
Yes but with a 16" barrel and a proper stock.

>I just assumed
You are a glass-half-full kind of guy if your assumptions are that people are doing less dumb shit than they actually are.
>>
Can any of the honeypot glowies monitoring this thread post the schematics to make a pipe bomb or nail bomb so that OP can see what people should be carrying in a SHTF/WROL/TEOTWAWKI situation instead of a handgun? We civilians can't buy grenades, but if the world ends, you'll wish you knew how to make homemade variants.

clear sightlines means cutting the trees back 800yds in all direction so they have to cross an open field
I assume they would attack at night, making the thermal invaluable for scanning the tree lines
you're at home so you can easily switch to another rifle during the day or remove a thermal clip on
a heated multi story home with multiple shooting positions, spot lights, decoys can make it hard for them to return accurate fire and they will need to be pretty skilled to do it at distance
if they are watching me from a hidden position I assume it is not fortified and is likely just a quickly thrown together camp that will burn well

Raiders are going to be a group of men too stupid, unprepared and disorganized to provide for themselves or build a community who have been driven to raid by hunger and bad judgement
Obviously if you are talking special forces or even army deserters I probably wouldn't stand a chance, but they would also be hesitant to assault over open ground and may look for easier prey

>many assumptions made, but I'm an American, If I go down I go down shooting
>>
>>65007955
I appreciate the well thought out reply but it just further goes to show you have no idea what you're talking about
>clear sightlines 800m
That means your enemy has clear sightlines
>multistory home
A bullet magnet routinely being peppered with rifle fire that causes anxiety and fear in the occupants
>assume
Bad move. Prevailing winds burning debris. It cost them nothing doing this over and over. Further causing fear and ax anxiety. Over time this compounds
>they be dumb and sheeeet
Another bad move. All recorded history tells us quite another story
>fortified
A hole dug in a bump in the ground cost them nothing Good luck engaging that.
>burn them
Again you cannot assume you are dealing with morons. Unless you can mount regular patrols of your A/O you are fucked. You're fucked anyway though. If you have a way of sustaining that many people you are a juicy target for people who will take your shit. There is a reason why humanity evolved the way it did. People taking your shit is one of the main reasons,
