Thow up your antiques and see what other can tell you about them.I'll start, Anyone see any issues with this stamping or know what exactly it means? It's fairly good condition with matching serials.
>>65005907Here are the importers marks.
>>65005907Izhevsk nugget, probably the most common type of nugget out there. There isn't as much reason to get one aside from collecting now that they're not $100 and cheap spam cans of ammo have dried up.
>>65005949Got a price you would offer? Just curious if I'm getting a deal
>>65005907assuming you are not paying shipping or ffl fee, not a penny over $400. And thats a fair deal for both parties. It is difficult to get cheap nuggets these days due to severe price gouging but keep in mind that the previous owner factually payed between $50-$150 for it.
>>65005907>Anyone see any issues with this stampingnigga it's a mosin. It's already gone through a world war. If there was an issue with it, it would have blown up half a century ago.
>>65005964$200 something maybe in today's market if I was looking for a deal, and I'd only get one at today's prices if I was specifically looking to fill out a surplus collection and just needed any old example of a Mosin for that purpose. Realistically they seem to be north of $300 on average now. I am a bit biased because I bought my first Mosin for like $110, and that was a meh price at the time.
>>65006015I realize GunBroker is destroying the market and this is way past the days of "you can buy the whole create at a discount" but the clean furniture and matching serials seems like a great buy these days. Is 300 really the price now?
>>65005913> Importers marksNgmi
1938 Gewehr 12/34
You can tell by the that it is
>>65006630> Serial ending in 88Very based
>>65006627Grand mas plateDirty cum socks all around.Antique rifle.I can count on this place never changing
>>65006627>>65006643Hello brother.
>>65006630Is there a good way to clean these things without fucking them up? I blasted it with some oil on the metal parts only but it’s just been sitting in a closet slowly rusting for the past six years. I don’t want to fuck up the wood but it’s kind of grimy
It’s all numbers matching minus the bolt. Nazis went all out and even serialized the barrel bands. 693 is stamped into the receiver
>>65006668I grew up around antiques. Removing patina removes value and history. You can use the soft brush to knock off any surface debre but anything else will forever change the weapons history. You would be surprised how much of the color of the wood is the result of oil and dirt polishing the surface, a decent scrub and brush can take that shit out without removing any staining color.
>>65005949I'll have you know that my spam cans are still as moist as the day I bought them.
>>65005907FALs are practically antiques
>>65006697>namefagging on rusty corrosive ammo
>>65006911My man pussy got wet thinking about this thing killing dirty communists.
My M/39 seems to have American stamps and no SA-square
>>65006660damn dude your mattress is nasty as fuck
>>65007168The bolt and tang have a Westinghouse 'E' but I can't place most of the other stamps
>>65007168Mein Neger, those are German proof stamps.
>>65007251You're right, that's a German nitro stamp and I also managed to identify a Suhl proofmark on the side of the receiver, dated May 1992. I bought the gun in Finland from a Finnish man so I guess it made a little detour through Germany for some reason. There's also a Remington stamp on the bolt handle, a tula hammer on the magazine plate and the 3600 stamp indicates it's a Sako-made barrel. The serials match so it must have been put together from assorted parts by Sako back in 1942.
>>65006668A bronze brush, some toothpicks, and some oil will work just fine on the metal in terms of removing grime, minor rust, and dried grease without hurting the finish underneath. As for the stock, I typically take a damp paper towel and just wipe it down, anything more abrasive is going to do more harm than good to the wood. If there's dried grease on the stock, you can take a toothpick to it. That's how I cleaned up this neglected Kar88 that I picked up last fall.
>>65007219>CIP gore on an old rifleI hate Germany so much
>>65007939yes, i'm sure the CIP marking, which allows you to know the firearm is safe to shoot modern loads in, is the one to break the camel back on that steel canvas of unnecessary markings.
>>65008021Yes. People would get mad if I went Jackson Pollock on Mona Lisa and that's what retarded CIP rules are doing
>>65008468
>>65008471
>>65008476
>>65008484Japs had
>>65008489Long rifles
>>65007939there is not a single CIP hallmark on there.
>>65008489Oh my, that's very nice.
>>65008778Whatever, it's still gay Germanigger autism
>>65009111So basically you know jackshit about the argument (some of the hallmarks are russian) but still want to chime in with your retarded opinion based on your ignorance. Why? Just trying to fit in by complaining about everything?
>>65009221Capture markings are sovl, the caliber and country markings are gay as shit and ruin the whole gun 110%
>>65007450Oh yeah and here's the whole thing
>>65009429>He doesn’t have a bendy bolt.
>>65009448What are you, one of those Hammerfell homos?
>>65009462I don't recall this line from the game
>>65009462No, I don’t shoot old retarded crap. I let it rust in my closet like a real man
Always funny seeing people call C&R's antiques.
>>65009495The distinction does not exist in my country
>>65009499It does in OP's country.
>>65009495Whats up? It's not a 1942 rifle?
>>65010248In the United States, when it comes to firearms, Antiques are defined by federal law. They must have been manufactured in or before 1898. They are largely exempt from federal firearm laws. There is a second classification for old guns not old enough to legally quality as antiques. They are called C&R (curio and relic). They have relaxed legal controls to make it easier for collectors to obtain them, as long as they are not NFA class 3 items (machine guns and such).t. attorney who doesn't specialize in firearm laws but does enjoy old bolt actions.
>>65010309Well shit thank. I didn't realize he was using the "not an antique" in a technical way.
>>65011388It's something that a lot of cr collectors differentiate though. It's the equivalent of>All matching, except for stock, bolt, magazine, bayonet lug removed. Barrel is well used and no rifling, but it's in overall reblued, sanded, and restained excellent condition.
>>65009429Kitty!
OP here.I have 2 guys who know Russian stuff who told me it's a good buy. Not as undervalued as I though but the furniture is OG and the riffaling is good to so it's a great buy at the price I think I'll grab it.
>>65016672whats the price?
This is my oldest, 1898 mosin. Picked it up at bass pro last year.

>>65017618That is nice!
>>65017658wat ben je hier aan het palen jongknaap
>>650166953, plus tax
>>65017887That's actually not bad given current market. They're regularly around $400 for a beat to shit beater.
>>65017928I picked it up.
>>65006668Unless you go full effort into steaming the barreled action (NOT THE WOOD) then no. I think Mark Novak's steam/boiling method videos are still up. Rust converts to bluing (magnetite IIRC) in steam or boiling water. Very minimal losses of metal, and theoretically less than if you just removed the rust. Then it needs to be bone fucking dry after conversion and oiled heavily. Then the loose rust knocked off. Even brass brushes are often fucking coated steel, though, so they scratch. As for steel wool, maybe no coarser than no 1/2. 0000 kinda sheds like a bitch too. Might need a carding wheel for best results. Wood can be cleaned but expect a full refinish or close to it. I've cleaned some wood with murphy's oil soap only to find it looking like it spent a dry hot summer outside once the water evaporated. Boiled linseed oil often brings the color back but not always. Not sure what Germany used on the stocks. If anything like the US, it was a LARGE vat of simmering linseed oil the stocks got immersed in. Not a small task!Probably leave it alone, especially from what I hear about K98 prices anymore.
>>65007939UK does it to antiques too.
>>65019062Good choice. It really is not going to get much better than that unless you are literally scamming someone's widow. You would have been foolish to pass and try for a better deal.
>>65020556Thanks. I am really enjoying it already... Compared to my rifle #4 it's actually far easier to handle. The Enfield feels like a brick.
Found an old Finncub made from a really nice 1921 Tula hex receiver. Worst part is the previous owner made an utter hack job of the bolt. Chopped AND bent AND angled, with a big shitty weld spot. Just shameful. At least it was non-matching, so I got another bolt body on eBay for a fair price. It is a great shooter though so I might try to find an M44 or M38 stock
>>65022938>nice hexPic?
OPI want to say again I grew up around antiques buts Mostly not firearms antiques. The nugget I got at 340 is all original accept the importer marks. The referbishing and cleaning would be semi destructive if was a cabinet that is to say very clean.Riffaling is good. I see it as ruffly as good a buy as when I got silver at 25 am ounce. It will only go up.I'll bag a deer before I sale it if things play out.
