So now its
>Training to aim and shoot fast doesnt matter
>>
When I go to the range, I often encounter people shooting a foot size group on a silhouette at 5 yards. Sometimes they shoot fast, sometimes slow, but seemingly they never attempt to aim. This feels relevant to the subject you are currently discussing. Can someone please explain what is happening there and why?
>>
>>65007885
Now it's spray and pray and shoot sideways like a gangsta
>>
>>65007899

>>
>>65007885
Training to draw and fire fast matters and is not mutually exclusive to training proper trigger press, and you're retarded if you think you shouldn't do drills that do not directly translate to when you actually have to fight (proper trigger press translates to less slapping if you didn't know).
>>
>>65007958
It all matters for defensive gun use. Anyone can be walked through aligning sights and slowly pulling the trigger until the shot surprises you and hit the bullseye.

Hey guys, went to the range a couple of days ago and tried out my friend's Witness. I'm cross dominant (Right hand, Left eye) and have always shot with my right hand and pulled my arms cross my body to line up the sights. Decided to try shooting with my left hand instead because I was frustrated with my groups. Holy shit, it felt like cheating. I pointed more naturally, acquired the sights easier after shots, and my groups shrank by 50%. Manipulating the mag release and slide stop was awkward but I'll get over it.

This pocket rocket ruined all handguns for me. Shoots just as good at 15 yards as my Px4 and RXM, and close enough group size at 25 yards to not care about the difference.

Easily slips into the front pocket on any pair of pants I own. And thanks to that little compensator I can shoot faster than with my other 9's(Just tried today at the range against my RXM with a Holosun and KKM barrel).

It's bitter sweet finding such a perfect handgun for my needs, and at the same time seeing my other handguns as pointless.

Can't comment on the new plates specifically, but can say direct mount is almost always superior to plates because of lowness and strength, except in this case where you make the sacrifice of not having manual brightness controls or an exchangeable battery by going with an SCS

The old plates were poorly engineered without recoil support, and the C&H-made plates were sometimes out of spec. Even my C&H PPQ plate was out of spec. I do not know who's making Walthers new plates or if they are good now sorry, BUT the new plates do have a better interface with the slide so as long as they're not being made by C&H anymore I should think they're good to go

Yes, gun companies should make more shitty handguns instead of good guns!

Talon grips aren't bad on it, I felt the same before I took it out shooting. Didn't really feel the need for extra texture after, but that's just my preference.

I hate having a decently sized handgun collection sometimes
So much fucking ammo is needed
>>
>>65008247
I hate how easy it is to carry these
There are so many things that make it non-ideal and yet it's the one I grab every time I leave
>>
>>65009402
how did you get used to the trigger to shoot justasgud at 25 yards?
>>
How frequently do you guys practice with your carry rounds? I got to talking with one of the old timers at my local shop, and he stated that you should only carry what you've trained to shoot, hence he carried 115 grain fmj. Is this actual advice, or just fuddlore?
>>
>>65009772
That's retarded advice
tell grandpa to post groups on /hg/ so we can make fun of him
>>
>>65009772
fuddlore, alot of your practice flies right out the window when you shoot since you never shoot at the rate of "panic" while moving judging by alot of footage online. You never calmly pick up your gun off a table and then leisurely shoot at the rate of 1 round per 5 seconds at someone trying to kill you. You should practicing drawing a gun fast, practice drawing and shooting as fast as possible, practice shooting as fast as possible but still hitting the target, etc.

Practicing with your carry ammo is smart, but what's smarter is finding a FMJ that behaves reasonably similar to your carry ammo recoil wise and impact wise. Some ammo may have dramatically different POI compared to others, like if you were carrying 50 gr hollow points and practicing with 147 gr, they likely have different POI. Speer sells "lawman" which should behave almost identically to their Gold Dot carry ammo.

It's not like 115 gr "isn't" going to just bounce off but FMJ is less lethal than JHP, the survival rate in inner city shoot outs is high because of the lack of accuracy and the fact most of them shoot FMJ since it's all they steal or buy.
>>
>>65009772
I try to buy as many carry arounds as possible to shoot at least 5 through my carry guns
Also you should train with the same grain weight as you carry, not necessarily the bullet type
If you carry 124 gr, then train with 124 gr, duh
>>
>>65009772
They're trying to get you to be a paypig. I shoot them once a year, and only the ones I carry in my two mags
>>
>>65009834
How frequently should carry ammo be swapped out? I only recently got my first gun, so I'm a complete novice on some of this stuff

the absolute minimum acceptable distance for handgun training is 10 yards. You should be doing a lot at 15 and 20 as well. I have never understood this 7 yards bullshit.
>>
>>65009938
selb debense distances :DDD
>>
>>65009938
More than 10 yards is murder.
I'm trying to get good enough to move target away and still get decent looking group, but that's more of a spiritual development thing than self defense training.

Too bad hiroshimoot is a cock magnet and chose to abandon this place to bots instead of fixing the problem. The fact that >>65009193 hasn't been deleted yet makes it obvious considering that it's textbook bot behavior with a screencap of reply bait from a different site being reposted without context. The human beings have known this for years, but it still hasn't been stopped because it's by design.

I'm still looking for a Model 10 Heavy Barrel for a good price. My friend promised to sell me his for $300 and then a day later he sold it to someone else
>>
My gun range had a used Smith 34-1 for sale that some lady inherited and immediately sold. They were asking 650 for it, but I had to fondle it. It was so nice I almost bought it. Super smooth trigger, perfect timing, even adjustable sights. Why is Smith so shit now? Like every 43C that I have seen has been utter garbage by comparison.
