Thresher shark lookin' ass nigger.
>>65013203I'm actually impressed at how much weight they put on a trainer jet, but also wondering why because nobody in their right mind would sent this thing close enough to the battlefield to use any of those weapons.Any random grunt with a shoulder launched AAmissile will shut this down.
>>65013318They aren't westerners, the command chain can't think anon. If they do they disappear. It's better to not think and hope you'll never meet any resistance. Worst case you get captured and have a much better time than if you said "no, this is stupid I'm not going to die in this trainer jet, I'll report it to the command chain".
>>65013318>I'm actually impressed at how much weight they put on a trainer jet,If you're referring to the one shot down in Iran then you're kinda wrong, as they were not doing actual CAP but drone intercept missions primarily. But still, when those are literally the only jets left that can fly what are you going to do?
>>65013470>If you're referring to the one shot down in IranNo, just the loadout in the actual photograph. Intercepting drones with jets has generally proven to be either a bad idea or inefficient, so they should have really kept this thing hidden in a hangar.
>>65013487>Intercepting drones with jets has generally proven to be either a bad idea or inefficientNope, the contrary. It was just a problem of having the right armament. Trying to get a gun kill or using expensive A/A missiles is what needed to change. Now that (at least us in the west) are starting to use the APWKSII paired with a TPOD the cost for downing each drone went down massively. The last problem is with the use of frontline fighters that have high operating costs in such roles, but an armed jet trainer solves this problem. (not for russia etc since they don't have any actual APWKS-like system that works.)
>>65013487>>65013632>trainer aircraft>pilot in it is by definition always training while flying it>a drone gets shot down>he gets to learn gunnery and missile systems in the process of getting his hours inIt sounds extremely economical honestly
>>65014607If they are really lucky they also get some SERE training.
>>65014607Jokes aside you can't partecipate in any real mission until you have completed your training and OCU. If a trainer is being used for antidrone stuff the pilot is always a full fledged airman.
>>65013203That's actually what americans did when they stopped making big planes like the f22 and f15.Theyre selling trainer jets with a huge disproportionate radar nose cone bc theyre cheaper. Its why the f18 like like they took the nose and canopy off an f14 and stuck it on a trainer body.
