In the era of the fpv drones, why doesn’t the MIC build fpv fighters, that use some tiny caliber cannon, which can gun down the fpv drones and protect a base or a convoy?

Ukraine has shown off some shotgun armed interceptor drones. Worked well enough in the carefully selected videos we've been allowed to see, but doesn’t seem to have had a huge impact on the war overall. That said I suspect it's hard to get solid enough coverage with these to really lock down the airspace. You can only have so many guys flying them looking for the small and easy to miss (especially via drone optics) enemy drones, and even if they do manage to stop most of the incoming drones one of the important things about drone warfare is that the drones are cheap enough that you can send a fuckton of them, meaning a worrying number can still make it to their targets. (A small drone trying any kind of evasive manoeuvres will also be a major bugger to hit, IIRC Ukraine has mostly used these against the larger budget-cruise-missile ones that simply fly from A to B.) These things also seem more bothered by jamming, as it might force them to use wire while something like a Shahed simply won't care. It'll be interesting to see how it goes once someone tries to use large swarms of fully autonomous interceptor drones though.
>>65014842Why don't they make surface to air missiles with propellers?
>>65015187A solid state rocket engine is easier to store in a ready state, can start quicker, allows for much greater speed, and can be ridiculously simply in construction.
>>65015187because sacrificing a working propeller engine is silly when you can just use solid rockets
>>65014870Since on analog/digital you are limited by the # of drones operating in the area(barring fiber), why doesn't everyone poor just keep a bunch of shit powered on and sitting in a field somewhere to waiting to connect and tie up the datalink?
>>65015199Defense contractors charge a mint for solid rocket motors thoughAnd a 2 stroke motor with gas could be stored for years before starting just fine
>>65015187Rockets are (historically) much cheaper and go faster. If you use the same propulsion as the target, chances are they can evade because they have a bigger fuel/battery supply and are starting off at a higher altitude ie higher energy.Modern engineering improvements and quirks have transgressed on this dynamic with things like Ukrainian Shahed interceptors and the Iranian 358 turbine-powered missile but it's still a good rough guideline.
>>65015611>Defense contractors charge a mint for solid rocket motors thoughSo imagine how hard they'd ream out your wallet if you didn't just ask for a tube with some propellant in it, but instead a complete combustion engine with all the finely machined moving parts that entail.
>>65014842It's almost like you could be rich if you build that

>>65016849Wow, that's actually very cool. But still, not as cool as a squirrel in a tiny little Hurricane IIB raping drones with twelve little Browning MG's, all to a Ron Goodwin soundtrack.
>>65017083P1-SUN is pun for cock btw
>>65016837>>65017083do not post sex toys on a blue board
>>65016837Gee Taras, why do you have TWO pisuns?
>>65017099>P1-SUN is pun for cock"Pisun" is more like a cutesy way of saying "peepee." Akin to the Italian "lulu." A little hui, not a big dick from the mountains.
>>65014842The FPVs are legitimately too fast and agile when they're coming in to kill you. You'd be better off with tiny CIWS or a microwave thing for them. For killing spotters though it'd make a lot of sense. Dropping the DJI calling in the FPVs before it can call them is the winning move. Second best is killing it before it can guide the incoming FPVs to you. The recon drone can see a hell of a lot better than the FPVs. An RC plane with the neat full control FPV view, a couple full giggle .22s with tracers, and maybe a 20 gauge or .410 would be pretty damn effective.Basically a specialized recon/dropper drone hunter made with mostly off the shelf hobby crap and cheap weapons. If it goes down oh fucking well. It's probably going to do a lot of work before that happens though.
>>65014842Just give a couple of guys in every platoon a 12 gauge shotgun, loaded with a mix of buck and birdshot (you put the buckshot in there so that it's not completely useless against humans). Have the M2s on transport vehicles etc replaced with an 8 barrel 12 gauge minigun loaded with the same shells.
>>65018602Imperical testing by Ukies has found birdshot to be not very effective against drones. Drones are tougher than birds.
>>65018643Sweet, buckshot all round then, that's much more effective.
