There will never be another F-15

>0 losses
I mean, if you discount those 3 shot down by a Kuweiti pilot

>I mean, if you discount those 3 shot down by a Kuweiti pilot
They only count if the Kuwaiti pilot counts them as kills.
Are they?
>>
>>65017209
i mean IAF losses
there was even a baz that lost a wing and just flew back to base with no wing, they put a new wing on it and it might be bombing iran rn.

i think its kind of a ship-of-theseus thing where the most maintenance-intensive high stress parts have been replaced many times
>>
>>65017182
Airframes can last a really long time if you really want them to, there are 70+ year old Beagles still flying around SEA every now and then.
>>
>>65017209
mudhens aren't eagles. completely different birds.
>>
I love the F-15
>>
>>65017182
How come they keep the F-15's around while they retired the relatively younger F-16A's and C's?
>>
>>65017351
Wow, that's a very high quality source.
>>
>>65017209
Wasn’t it air defenses? I doubt the F-15s were prepared to deal with friendly fire at the moment.
>>
>>65017344
eagle's replacement is a lightning. iaf neither can get enough lightnings nor have pilots.
viper's replacement is a newer viper. iaf can get newer vipers easily and viper pilots can be retained.
>>
>>65017209
It would be four losses given Japan shot down one of its own F-15s with another F-15 in the mid-90s. But whatever, newfags gonna newfag I guess.
>>
>>65017356
Initial reports were SAMs but it's been confirmed it was a Kuweiti F-18, released footage shows they were well within visual range making it look deliberate.
You have to expect that kind of thing when you kill the Shia pope.
Imagine if France killed the catholic pope and the Italian governments position was we are allies with France and it was a good thing. Not every Italian pilot is going to agree.

I thought Kuwait was Sunni and that was one of the major differences between Arabs and Persians
>>
>>65017653
Honestly can we really in good conscious count blue on blues? I mean it might statpad the soviet birds a little with some more kills, perhaps bring their K:D closer to a 1:1
>>
its kinda poetic
these are elder pre-islamic republic planes being called 'for one last mission before retirement' to put the islamic republic down just like in all the buddy copy movies.

It's ~30% Shia.

No one counts blue-on-blues for the simple reason of "why would you?"

Does Israel have some kind of special plan for what happens when their aircraft go down over hostile territory? I'm not sure if I'd be happy flying an ancient aircraft over lands that arrest birds for spying for Israel.
>>
>>65017653
The Japanese one was not intentional. There's debate about the Kuwaiti still.
>>
>>65018952
Pretty sure SAR is ok. Iran is 100% in shambles, could even send a truck ambulance from Israel to Teheran

meanwhile in the iaf

Why is he a major general? the iaf is bigger than most other air forces which have a "full general"
>>
>>65019305
CNN told me Iran was winning.
>>
>>65019312
he's not actually a major general. idf has their own ranks that don't translate to nato ranks.
he's actually aluf. the second highest-rank in the idf. only the head of the whole idf outranks him.

Jesus Christ. Where did the fucking time go?
>>
>>65019312
Israel only goes up to Lt. General, which is reserved for the head of the IDF.
>>
>>65019416
Israel isn't super anal about its officer corps. It has its organizational roots from zionist militias so theres not much pomp and circumstance you see in many other armies. Everyone starts out as enlisted and only get officer once you complete the training. It's not a dual track where most officers were never enlisted.
>>
>>65019305
Star Wars type shit.
>>
>>65019290
>could even send a truck ambulance from Israel to Teheran
You should maybe check maps for what that route would look like.

In any case, Saudis and Iraqis would cooperate with SAR and wouldn't even blink if the US was doing that SAR.

pick up the pilot and go back to israel
