I’ve been thinking about when my own parents will pass, and it’s not anytime soon, it’s just on my mind because they recently updated their wills and talked to me about it, and I realized that I won’t be inheriting their money until I’m in my 60s. I won’t need any money when I’m 60 beyond modest retirement funds. 60 is after I’ve bought a house, after I’ve had kids, after I’ve put the kids through college, after basically every point in my life when I need significant amounts of money. Once I’m 60 I’ll still need money to live, but I won’t be an active participant in the economy to nearly the same degree, I won’t be in a position where I’m able to convert my money into a more successful generation to follow me. If my kids receive an inferior education, or live in a rougher neighborhood, or can’t go to a top college, me getting money in my 60s won’t have prevented any of that. Obviously, it would be massively preferable to society as a whole if I somehow got this money in my early 30s or something, which, if estates were being passed down at the midpoint or 66% point of a life, I would. I’m also not doing terribly money wise, so none of this is something I need to survive, but I also have a lot less money than my parents, and I’m in a position to decide the next generation, while they’re just about to retire and not doing anything.

I’ve generally gotten along well with boomers but one thing that always irks me is how hard they shit on me for living with my parents at 28.I work full time and have for many years and live with my elderly boomer parents, doing most of the work around the house as a trade off for only paying $150 bucks a month rent as well as 100% of my personal expenses. Finally they stop after they get the place surveyed proving it’s our land. For the next 3 years every summer they bitch that the grass on our side is too long. They pop a testicle if a grass clipping gets blown over the border from the wind. They yell that they are going to the hoa about this (we don’t live in an hoa, but there is one in our state with the same name as our town, and the retards think it’s where we all live). My mom played trees in the property line to cover them the fuck up, they are pissed and bitch saying they can’t do that. A few of the trees died, so my mom left them there to piss them off more, it works They live in a much smaller house than my sister and got so mogged they spent 70k of their savings to redo the exterior to steal the look of my sisters house by using the same materials and the same colors by the same contractor while calling us white trash.
