Bought a bunch of these for my Beryl. They fit in the rifle after you try and insert them once or twice. After that the rifle has shaved off enough plastic from the top of the mag and they feel better in the hand than the Beryl mag i m o. I also bought four more mags than what I really needed. I wanted to see if the follower from these would work in a 74 bakelite mag. I am happy to report that they not only fit in the mag, the little button for locking into the baseplate also fits on the 74's baseplate. I had no issues loading 30 rounds into the mag either. So for those looking to run 5.56 out of a bakelite mag this is an option for you instead of paying the POD arms douche or having to fiddle around with a 3D printer. I haven't taken it to the range yet but given the ease at loading ll 30 rounds I am thinking it'll be gtg.
Was considering buying an M70 parts kit and then figuring out a way to order the receiver/barrel. There any legal restrictions for parts kits? Also very discreetly but how do you build an AK.
>>65024236>there any legal restrictions for parts kits?Yes, they're gun parts. ITAR covers them being exported from the US, and your country has import laws on firearm components; check those yourself. You most likely couldn't import the bolt as-is because most countries have laws that care about pressure bearing components.>how do you build an AKIf you aren't American, you're probably wasting your time. Sourcing a receiver/barrel is going to be a nightmare, and the tooling to build AKs is a question of "do you have a machine shop available to you?" for the layman.>discretelyYea don't even try it, you don't want to go to prison over an AK parts kit.
>>65024279Well I'm American so I'm halfway there. Also it's completely legal to build your own guns. thx for the info, I'll probably look at some youtube videos or some shid
>>65024214i wish saiga 12g mags were this cheap
>>65024297I wish Saiga 12s had an FRT.
>>65024289If you're American, you should have already been aware that there are no restrictions on gun parts themselves at the federal level, meaning that we can't truly help you unless you would tell us what state you live in because any laws about them are at the state level. That information specifically is easier to get from a google search ime.Tortort is your best option for a milled AK receiver afaik. AKbuilder barrels are fine, Apex barrels are fine (they're the same for AK barrels iirc), milled and stamped M70s used the same pattern barrel. You'd need to get a few fixtures from AKbuilder anyway, it's more money than it's worth unless you plan to do a few.
>>65024321I live in SSR California, but I haven't read anything that says I can't order parts kits to my door. The video I'm watching also recommends various fixtures and what not for building an AK. thanks m8.
>>65024342Didn't CA pass a law recently that nearly all gun parts need a background check? You should probably still look into that. It might just be "must be 21, must sign for package, must sign bullshit legal documents."The fixtures are mostly to align blocks, mark pin holes and install those pins, but you should also get headspace gauges. You'll need a semiauto fcg as well since there will be hammer follow if you use the full auto fcg that the kit comes with.>t. built a Galil, had hammer follow using the in-kit fcg while lazy and impatient waiting on the semi one to come
I have a bunch of AK mags I was gonna sell a guy I know because I don't have an AK but I'm regretting it now because they're surplus and I don't like selling historical surplus.I will keep a couple of the cleaner ones I guess just to have around
>>65024236Not worth it at all for you. You need:>a hydraulic press>drill press >company that will ship a milled receiver to your FFL because 80% milled receivers don't exist anymore >random fixtures, press ram heads and measuring tools like over 1k in total tools even if you can find someone that will ship all the stuff to you, you're still going to have to pay a shit load of money for something that you can just buy for cheaper. The economic issues applies to people in free states too. There really aren't any 80% milled receivers left and I don't think you can reweld them (based on your other posts, not trying to be mean) so this kit isn't even a a good discrete option anyways. If you really do want to try PSA has these for cheaper and with better torch cuts >>65024316one is on the way. >>65024368also this. Some vendors are following it. Some aren't
>>65023051I put a red dot on my Mini Draco. This thing is so fucking fun to shoot. Any ideas on how I can get a light on it?
>>65023051Anyone ever modded an ak so it looks exactly like the one in stalker vidya series? The gas tube cover is sorta weird and I'm pretty sure you can't find it anywhere
Has anyone tried out those locking dust cover mounts? I keep seeing the FAB defense one pop up and I have know idea of it's any good
>>65024600Change the handguard for a Midwest Industries
>>65024600
>>65026235surely the wood would crack right
>>65024732It wouldn't be hard to do assuming you're fine with it being right-handed instead of game-accurate left-handed.>buy AKS-74 (kit build, Saiga conversion, SLR-104, etc)>strip finish from bolt carrier and leave in the white>Buy green handguards or paint black ones green (the pistol grip is still black on the ingame one)>take a dremel and cut slots in a plastic upper handguard to match the ingame model, sandpaper to smooth>touch up color around cutsThat's all it'd take. You have hands and access to tools, you can figure out how to cut four holes in a thin plastic and make them look good.>>65026268Depends on how heavy a light, how well you mount it to the wood, how strong your particular piece of wood is and how often/how hard you LARP.It's the biggest weakness of wood for furniture; not every piece has the same structural makeup or lines, so your mileage varies greatly between individual pieces.
Do I need to worry about cleaning this off? I don't clean my guns often, especially my ak and this hasn't showed up on my other aks.
>>65027029Here's the booster
>>65027029>>65027034Sorry anon, your AK has AIDS. Best to just get rid of it before it infects your other AKs.
>>65027029>>65027034It's just verdigris (copper oxidation from the jacket material) unless you're shooting corrosive ammo. Just clean it off every so often, but it won't kill you or your gun either if you leave it for now.Soak the booster and muzzle in a solvent for like 1-3 hours and then scrub them; 12ga brush for the booster and a nylon (probably should have use brass) brush for the muzzle worked for me.Just be mindful that your solvent actually dissolves copper (many gun cleaner solvents don't, ymmv), and that it doesn't dissolve whatever finish or paint is on your parts, that'd be bad.
>>65027051Other aks have herpes, everyone knows you can't have 2 things at once>>65027093Thank you sir. I only have clp at the moment and I know that won't cut it. I'll probably get me some hoppes soon, I've read that works as a descent copper solvent.
What's the consensus on Toolcraft AK74 bolts? As far as I'm aware PSA has Toolcraft make their bolts and trunnions, but they are to a proprietary spec and not true ak74 spec. The Carolina Shooters Supply bolts are also toolcraft as far as I know, but they seem to be AK74 spec. Since Beryl bolts use propietary extractor, spring, firing pin and replacements are rarely in stock, would it be better to use a toolcraft AK74 bolt for long term for use of standard ak74 bolt replacement parts, or a proven beryl bolt and hope to find replacement parts here and there?
>>65027871I think it doesn't matter.>option 1you shoot your gun around 5000 rounds over the course of its lifetime, most bolts will be fine>option 2you shoot your gun 10000 rounds a month, you shoot so much it wont matter what the bolt is because they both will need replacing over the course of your use.

>>65028247I'm trying to have replacement parts of all wear items, mainly springs. Extractor springs last around 5-10k. Beryl extractor springs are OoS everywhere, and with the import bs I'm not sure they're going to be available in the future. Don't really want to replace the whole bolt if just the ejector spring is bad. But on the other hand, if a shitty bolt breaks a lug after just 10k, then I would prefer a better bolt. Just trying to future proof.
Bear Creek actually has stock now on their AKs they announced this year>billet bolt and trunnion>doesn't even come with a mag>$900
>>65029594I got it for $500. You'd buy it too. Also, post your hands Pablo.
>>65029670>tfw Bear Creek won't even ship an upper to WA despite being told by multiple attorneys they canIt's not that I WANT a Shit Creek Arsenal upper but there are very few 20" barrel side charging AR uppers out there. You know, for reasons
>>65029842>can't even get dogshit parts for meme buildsRIPI'm glad someone else had the exact same idea I did when I saw that safety lever on KAK's website. I was going to engrave pic related markings into an 80% for it
>>65029919Why do you fudds obsess over Russian crap?
>>65029940>if you're seriousYou're in /akg/, everyone here obsesses over "Russian crap" to some degree, even Yugos because they're just reverse-engineered from licensed variants of "Russian crap."Some people like to have fun.>if you're playing the bitI can't come up with a good comeback.
>>65029996I get why people like yugo stuff, it's really got that "made in a tractor factory" feel to it. then again AK users see these beat up refurbished mags >hmmm $14 dollars you say? what a smokin deal!responding to the helpful anon(s) last thread:got a couple of those refurb circle 11 mags. damn they look like shit lmao. functionality seems fine though. they both rocked in fine no filing necessary and they seem to sit more or less parallel like my one so-called "good" yugo mag. filed the PR stamped one and it's a little more parallel, but I don't want to take much more off the lug lest it get too wobbly.NOS yugo extractor and spring came in - damn they seem kinda shit too! Definitely new parts but the extractor itself just didn't seem quite as nicely machined as the original m72 one. The spring was a normal solid wire spring, much longer and easier to compress than the original braided wire one. it held a shell way more loosey goosey so I just stuck with the original parts.got a new ALG recoil spring. I know they are technically "extra strength" which is definitely true compared to my original spring. Will see if that helps with my odd intermittent jamming.
>>65030083>responding to the helpful anon(s) last threadThat's the anon you're replying to (me), funnily enough. They're not cosmetic refurbs, they're function refurbs, like "bent feed lip from a conscript using it as a hammer" type shit. They need to work, not be pretty.Since they work fine, that confirms your other ones are just out of spec. Sucks but it happens sometimes, either sell them or keep on filing, try the front lug if they're angled too far "up" but be careful to not dig into the mag body when you do.>price$14 IS a steal for surp mags that work, the "good" ones cost $20-30 if you can even find them anymore. New plastic mags are a non-starter for a lot of AKfags either because of "muh vibes" or function because AK Pmags suck. Bulgarian ones and the AK12 lookalike ones from Bosnia are good in my experience though.>NOS extractor and springReplacement parts were usually out-of-spec for combloc guns, they're meant to be hand-fit to your specific gun by an armorer.
>>65023051I wonder how suppressor baffles feel about corrosive ammo.
>>650305475got pic
>>65030547>I wonder how suppressor baffles feel about corrosive ammo
>>65031083NTA but the material does matter as wellLots of newer suppressors use cobalt or titanium alloy baffles in a stainless steel tube, so the body will rot out from the inside while the baffles stay around for a good bit longer. It's nothing a soak in a bucket of water for a minute or two and an air compressor to blow out the water can't fix either way.
>>65031099You're definitely in the right place.Your mom must've been mainlining Extra strength Tylenol.
>>65024600>>65029594>niggerthat esteemed gentleman has a stock on his draco
>>65030136You'll have to bear with me, it's my first AK coming from mostly AR's where mags are good, cheap & plentiful. Kinda funny whiplash seeing that. By "functional" I just mean the followers travel freely and the mags seat well. I need to get out to the range today to see if they actually work. If they do I could care less how they look. My problem with the other yugo mags is it seems like the rear lug is slightly too high, so the mags sit slightly titled down at the front. >meant to be hand fit that makes more sense. I mean it's just a cylinder with a claw so it did drop in but the extractor just has a slightly "unfinished" look. It let me confirm my original extractor isn't broken or missing any bits at least. I was more disappointed with the new spring which had way less tension than the original.
>>65032345All the good AK mags were cheap until about 10 years ago when the end of the Cold War surp market dump finally dried up, they've been bought already. I have a receipt from Apex that shows I bought 10 "good" condition Romanian surp steel mags in 2017 for $7 each. Inflation puts that amount to $9.33 each, so the rest of the price is just in supply/demand.When it comes to "new" ones, there's little reason to make them for the countries that field AKs because they have so many fucking mags in warehouses and armories that work, or it's just cheaper to buy them new from Russia/China, and you can't buy those new mags from Russia/China because of import bans.AR mags were also shit and pricey until the gen 2 pmag and ARs started becoming cheaper in the 2010s.>rear lug is slightly too highThat's usually a "file on the mag catch" situation, but you have other mags that work fine so don't mess with it. I'd sell them to someone else, price around what you paid, maybe -10-20%.
