Anyone have experience with the Platypus? I went to range recently a rented a nice cross section of guns (Glock 19, 1911 in 45, p320) and really liked the Platypus. Spent a million hours fucking around with their customizer, its fun. Is it good to go?

Reposting this from revolver general

Thoughts on an older Interarms import Rossi Model 94? I can’t find hardly any info about them online. They were apparently imported in the mid-late 1980s. 4” barrel with a fell underlug, 6 shot .38 special with wood grips. Basically a K frame with a full underlug. It’s in near mint shape with a tiny bit of finish wear on the barrel but no wear or fouling in the barrel or cylinder and zero wear on the extractor star or the arm that rotates it. Local seller wants $280 and for a near mint cheap K frame ish from the golden age of Brazilian made S&W knockoffs it just seems like it’d be a fun little shooter. I sold all my revolvers with less than a 5” barrel years ago but I’ve been toying with the idea of another 4” K frame and then this thing pops up. For $280 what’s there to lose?

I would like to hear from a learned sigger, what is the difference between these two springs.
>>

It clearly shows one is for the 365X and the other is for the 365XL
>>
>>65045334
There is no difference between those springs. Sig has many parts with multiple SKUs. 8900677 and 2700199-R are the same part and can be used interchangeably.

Confusingly, neither would fit 365X, I guess by X they really mean "this one is for xmacro".

US manufacturing has been garbage for a good while longer than two years. China is unironically a manufacturing powerhouse and it's not just "cheap Chinese crap". They've also mastered high tech and high value manufacturing with quality controls that legacy American brands can only dream of. It's simply too expensive to manufacture anything well here. When you buy American you pay a super massive premium to feel good about your patriotism while getting an inferior product. It's masturbatory frankly.

>>
>>65045619
Don't listen to the haters. Here's what you need to do. Push extra hard with your support thumb. See those shots that land too far left? That won't happen if your support thumb pushes the frame to the right even harder. Your dominant thumb is pointing off to the left, and it's subconsciously making you pull shots in that direction. Instead, wrap your dominant thumb around your support thumb so it has extra help pushing the frame to the right. It's perfectly fine to reposition your support thumb between shots, but don't rush it. Take your time to repositioning your hands between shots. As you get better that will happen so quickly that it'll become imperceptible.

Is it normal for micro 9's to heat up quickly? I'd assume so since there's not much surface to dissipate heat, right? I've had my CC9 for about a month and that's probably my only complaint I've been able to find with it, when I'm done shooting it I either have to let it and cool down before reholstering or just throw it in my bag and swap to carrying my other compact instead

To quote a boomerism in the previous thread,
>They all fall to ball.
I don't know how bad of a SHTF/TEOTWAWKI scenario you're envisioning, but I figure that if I'm in a situation where I am genuinely concerned with having enough ammo to shoot people/animals then I doubt there's gonna be anyone who'll crawl up my ass using FMJ/having overpenetration instead of using JHP. Plus in a normal market cheapo reliable FMJ can be like half the price of quality hollowpoints, making it far more cost effective to stockpile and fire in bulk.
>>
>>65046325
If your shtf scenario involves constant shootouts, you're on a timer anyway.
Having a good stockpile is good, but you also need to have a good stockpile of water, methods to purify water, food, medicine, etc. Learn to use radios, orient yourself in the woods, find water sources, learn basic trauma care, and make at least a basic plan with those close to you. Anyone envisioning themselves in a solo survival situation where the only thing they need to worry about are firefights is juvenile.

Combination of whatever topcoat/wood finish is on the grips and reflection from my dining room lights. They do have a noticeable gloss in hand that I think my phone camera oversells. Still, I really like how it contrasts with the matte black on of the gun.

I hate pistols... don't get me wrong. I have a few and like to shoot them when I can. But for fucks sake there's an opinion for everything. I've got my first red dot mounted on a micro-compact and I'm looking for an answer as to what range I should zero it at. I'm used to shitty irons on old 1911s, P-38s and irons on Beretta 92's and random other pistols. Going to take an enhanced CCW course soon but want to get used to this thing. 10 yards, 15, 25? WTF zero do you people use for CCW? Just give me an answer and I'll zero it at that. 9mm 3.1" barrel. I'm about to take this fucking thing off and just use irons.
>>
>>65047120
Just zero at 25. You'll be good for most pistol use. I can run an MPBR calq if you want to get you a perfect zero, but for a quick answer, go 25 yards.
>>
>>65047252
Planning on for defensive ammo using Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot 124gr, but i do have a lot of 115gr training ammo plus boxes of 115 and some 147gr rounds. 124gr is the overal sweet spot for my purposes. .Really I think I'm looking for baseline to start with with a red dot. Maybe I'm overthinking it but red dots and optic zeros on my AR's made a lot more sense to me.
>>
>>65047298
25 yards. Got it. There's my answer. Thank you. Next ranger day I'll get it done. I'm thinking this will make things future proof for me because I'm also planning on picking up a Beretta M9A4 and will throw a dot on it as well. I'm moving into the 21st century.

Looking at some trajectory charts, if you zero for 2 inches high at 25 yards, you'll be good out to just under 100 yards and won't be more than 3 inches off of your POA. The trajectory is a little different between 115, 124, and 147 grain, and you can assume that your max range will be a little lower with that short barrel, but if zeroed 2 inches high at 25 you should be good out to ranged well past what you will ever need. It'll be about 3 inches high at 50 and 3 low at 100, but will never be more than 3 inches up or down until you go past 100 yards. (Prob closer to 80 yards with a short barrel)

The recoil spring in my old pocket pistol had been busted, so I replaced it with a furniture spring. It's noticeably weaker and has less tension, but the pistol cycles dummy rounds so smoothly and easily, I almost can't believe it.

I'm afraid of testing with live rounds and risk causing a damage.
How low quality can you go with recoil springs? Is there a way to tell beforehand if a recoil spring is going to be able to handle the blowback?
