I want to put thishttps://www.midwayusa.com/product/2420373744?pid=373744On pic related. Current scope is airsoft and idk where that ends and gun begins. The rings are 1 screw per side and direct thread into the rail which screws into the top receiver 1 in the back 2 in the front.I think the rings and rail are original, should I run 1 screw rings on a 30-06? My 30-30 runs 2 screw rings. Original scope was a 3-9 Nikon that got lost along the way
What was the point of these gay ass screws? I took them out and nothing happened
Those are Leupold-style "twist in" type rings & base. I don't like them because they depend on friction. I can't tell from your photos if they are real Leupolds or a knockoff, but it doesn't really matter since they suck either way.>>65047778Coarse windage adjustment. Isn't that obvious from looking at them? Anyway, the way you remove this is:1) remove the caps holding the scope on.2) lift off the scope3) remove the screws you just removed4) rotate each ring 90 degrees with a wrench and they come out of the base. They have a keyed dovetail that fits into the rail. There is a special plastic tool for this that doesn't scratch the rings. If you don't have that tool then pad the rings like some scrap leather or cardboard or something so your wrench doesn't fuck them up.5) now you can remove the railThe number of screws on a ring doesn't mean a whole lot, there are one-screw rings that are awesome and there are rings with three screws on a side that suck donkey cock. Precision/quality is more important that raw beef.
>>65047778it doesn't lift off, iirc you have to turn it 90 degrees then it lifts off.
>>65047976Some World War 1 ass mounting setup. The scope has windage, why would my mount point need windage?
Thanks for the step be step btw
>>65048327Most scopes don't have much windage adjustment, especially older ones. It's a feature that could help you zero a shitty gun/scope combo, but most of the time it's just an opportunity for things to work loose.
>>65047595>rings and rail are originalJust keep it og, senpai.
>>65047778Yeah, you don't need those. Those are like smog equipment, not required.
That's not a rail, it's a one piece scope base you nogunz retard
>>65048358>>65047595>obvious 3rd party scope mount>a really fucking common one infact>lol it's original guizefucking hell, the memes are true, most of /k/ is fucking clueless about anything that's not in a 3dfps.
>>65048358I don’t want some old timey garbage that’s windage depends on the phase of the moon, I want hard mounts. I’ve never had to re-zero the 30-30.
>>65048410>see-thru rings on a .30-3010/10 boomeryou need a wingmaster with one of those comically large clip-on front sights to round out the package.
>>65048435Fuck you, those rings kick ass for doing deer drives. Something you can’t do, you no friends loser
>>65048447I wasn't insulting you anon, I was saying the gun had a cool vintage look.
>>65048456This. If you want to actually be critical about it, that gun looks like crap. The wood has no figure at all. The finish is shit. The forend doesn't match the stock. Extruded rings are crappy. The scope is too. But that nitpicking doesn't matter. I'm sure it kills bambi dead just fine. It has charm. It's like an old pickup truck that has some wear and tear, maybe a replaced door whose paint doesn't quite match. It's a gun that can tell stories, something that people took hunting for years, not some safe queen or larpstick dressed up for social media attention.>>65048435also needs some stupid-hot exotic .30 cal or perhaps a 7mm mag for "the long shots" (150 yards)
Ho-ly, the entire rear ring just falls off lmao. Does it really matter what base I buy? I just want something to hold the scope in OP
>>65048410>old timey garbageGamer detected.
>>65048624You should buy a thermal sight.
>>65048624>Does it really matter what base I buy?If you get a one-piece base like you have now you need to make sure it fits your rifle, for any given type there are usually at least two types, "short" and "long" action. .30-06 typically takes the long action type. If you get a two-piece base then the length doesn't matter.
>>65048702Think I’d rather go two piece just to free up space around the action. Can’t imagine a single offers more precision over the long run
