You are supposed to use them with a cap to keep spring tension off the feed lips when stored loaded. In a conscript army those are going to get lost right away, so you'll have constant feed lip failures resulting in all manner of feed jams. I'd either get something like Lancers or just new aluminum 30rd magazines. The buffer tubes are a bit too long, new springs,probably replace a lot of those with modern adjustable but-stocks from alibaba.cut down the barrels, re-crown them, adjust the gas blocks accordingly. A modern army would get optics, but I don't have a modern army so the Taipan sights are actually ideal because they discourage troops shooting through the front posts from the hip.Probably just screw some kind of foregrip onto the end. There was nothing wrong with the rifle, it's not a rifle you would chose given the modern alternatives but there's nothing wrong with it

Clean, inspect, sort, replace defective parts. That might actually be the most difficult part. Refinish with Cerakote if you can afford that, if not, rattlecan the steel parts with black Rustoleum and call it a day.Good rifles get new buttplates and handguards, cause those are sure to be cracked on any M16A1 that saw service in a poor nation. Get cheapest buttplates on the market or have them in a simplified, no trapdoor form either injection molded out of black HDPE or CNCd from a plastic sheet by local manufacturer. Get magpul handguards, they aren't any more expensive than other newly made handguards, they're robust and allow for mounting flashlights which is the only thing that will ever get mounted on them anyway.One rifle per squad (one per fireteam if possible) gets a PA 3x microprism with the slanted see-through riser as per picrel - it mounts directly into the carry handle and works even when the battery is dead cause there'll probably be no button cells in the entire army supply system.
