Im 31, should I join the army since they are the ones that only guarantee your job

I wanted 68p diagnostic imaging/rad tech

I saw that it’s difficult to get for air force so I am not too sure about going AF
>>
>>65060272
Personally I'd say 68P is more chill but 68A can be pretty fun if you like digging into electronics. The most annoying part is how long you spend in your initial entry training being treated like shit by drill sergeants. Once you're trained though you will definitely enjoy how comfy those jobs are.

68Ps can go as far forward as a Role 2 (Medical Company, Area Support or Brigade Support Medical Company. Usually set up in the Brigade area). 68As can be assigned as far forward as a Role 2, but when it's not a war they'll do missions all the way forward to a Role 1 (aid stations, the first place a casualty gets assessed). If war kicked off that can be worryingly close to the front, and you'll definitely need to run to bunkers and be ready to quickly pack up and relocate. It's nothing compared to a combat MOS though. Most of the time you'll be back at a field hospital or even farther back at a hard structure hospital. My deployments we had to have our weapons turned in and locked up for most of it (because we're a medical asset. War crimes and all that).

Army can guarantee you the MOS. Air Force it can be more difficult to get the actual MOS after signing. Air Force is definitely less retarded about how it handles medical planning and logistics, though.

The Coast Guard right now is moving pretty fast. I had my group meeting at the office for OCS on Monday. I got a call from the LCDR today about scheduling MEPs. Their tone while I was there was super "let's go go go". That's a good sign, I think.

Well stop worrying because you still have a week of reception before you're really being trained.
There are tons of worse recruits than you, some that will drop out in reception, some that will mentally quit long before their body quits.
Just as long as you refuse to fail at all costs, you will make it. Remember why you are there in the first place.
Don't count the days, try to make it to the next meal instead.
Hundreds of thousands of recruits show up to basic every year. Don't be one of the 10% that stop their training and dont pass. You got this

At night you sleep in an open bay with the most retarded dudes on the planet and struggle to keep yourself from going postal when dudes won't shut the fuck up and go to sleep. Ok, so hypothetical question here I was discussing with an army buddy. I'm not in the military myself so I thought I'd ask here, rather than make a whole new thread.
If someone in was to write some erotic literature about a brand new female 2nd lt fantasising about being railed over the desk and humiliated by her TSM in front of the whole troop, and then further embroidered it with how she gets off fantasising about various humiliating experiences like giving lectures about the importance of regular masturbation where she hands round her soiled knickers, and then he was to give that to his friend as wank material, and he was to give it to his friend and pretty soon it was all over the battlegroup and the characters of the officer and TSM are based on real people, right down to having their real names, how fucked would that guy be if it got traced back to him?
Like it doesn't seem like a big deal to me, a civilian without any military knowledge. But he seemed to think it would be career ending.
As I said, I'm not in the military and this is not like a situation where you ask about a hypothetical but it's actually a real situation like you see in the movies. It was just a drunk conversation between two buddies.

Need advice please. I'm considering Army option 40 vs option 4(airborne) right now. I'd like to try RASP but I've still got a little ways to go conditioning-wise.

My 2 mile is like 15 minutes on a good day right now and I can generally hit 10-11 strict pull-ups, and I'm like 10lbs heavier than I probably should be.

I wanna ship to basic ASAP, so I'm wondering if I'll have any opportunity to further my conditioning before RASP with Option 40, or if I should take Option 4 and and face a longer timeline with more opportunity to develop my cardio?
>>
>>65071868
You are not shipping ASAP in your current condition, so stop focusing on that. Research fartleks and start doing some shuttle sprints, as well as build up your leg strength. This process will take months, but nobody said it would be easy.
>>
>>65071868
You're asking if you should go (11B?) Ranger Regiment VS Airborne.
Those are two totally separate things.
If you want to go Ranger Regiment first and foremost then do Option 40 and don't accept any alternative.
Option 4 is Airborne school and airborne only.
Option 4 will likely bring you into an airborne unit after airborne school. So you are not guaranteed to go to RASP with Option 4.
A shit unit chain of command could be total dickheads to you and decide not to let you go to RASP as well.

You sound pretty close in fitness already if you're being honest but there is much work to be done. For starters you would need to max or nearly max out the AFT. Your overall endurance needs to be absolutely top notch too, since RASP is basically all about breaking you down.
Ranger regiment is only for you if you like chewing on rusty nails for enjoyment.
>>65072261
>You are not shipping ASAP in your current condition
You can't see him and only know his 2 mile time and max pull ups so I'm really curious how you are judging his "current condition"?
Also
>This process will take months
Kek as if you just get your legs shredded and endurance conditioned for RASP in a few months.
It's a higher level fitness commitment that you should (ideally) be consistent with from the moment you make up your mind until the day you leave service.
>>
>>65072551
If he is running a 7:30 mile AT BEST, then he is going to struggle. His 2 mile time AT HIS BEST is the standard pace expected for a 12 MILE ruck under worse conditions. Also, did I say "a few months"? No motherfucker, I am emphasizing that this kid is not going to see results in the span of weeks because his shit is all retarded. He is going to flunk if he ships ASAP.
>>
>>65072612
>His 2 mile time AT HIS BEST is the standard pace expected for a 12 MILE ruck under worse conditions
While I agree he should be in better shape before signing an option 40, this comparison makes no sense. You're comparing the time to complete 2 miles with a pace per single mile used for a different modality, making it sound like he will have to ruck 7:30 miles.
>>
>>65072551
Appreciate the insight! Yeah nah I'm basically a /fit/izen so I have a lot of muscle but only really started running last year. I can max out everything on the AFT besides the 2 mile right now.

The thing is basically I'm not married to Ranger school and after airborne school I'd want to basically shoot for either ranger school or SF selection but RASP sounded like the most direct route in general so I wasn't sure what the best move was as far as my run time goes. Thank you for the thoughtful response.

>>65072612
Also I appreciate the bluntness. When I say I'm shipping ASAP I meant that I feel very ready for OSUT but I'm aware it might take me like 6-12mo for me to really feel "ready" for RASP.
>>
>>65072925
Self reply I meant Option 40 sounded most direct
>>
I made up my mind about joining the army soon after the war started. Always wanted to do it, to be in the military, to hold a weapon, to be on the battlefield,... so i was going to chose infantryman or another combat role. I ended up doing pretty good on asvab and started looking at other MOS (as I was told by my recruiter). CBRN specialist sounded pretty cool and I ended up choosing it. Whole process was pretty fast and I swore in 2 weeks ago. Now I'm feeling pretty bad about it despite being really excited about joining the army. I also have option 40, but even if I'll manage to become the ranger what will I be doing? ( also have to get in shape for it first)
So question is will I be able to do cool stuff as CBRN specialist or should I try changing MOS, I'm going to basics in august
>>
>>65073052
You have plenty of time to get in shape. Since you let your recruiter sweet-talk you into picking an objectively shitty MOS, you absolutely need to fucking pass RASP. In Regiment, you will do cool shit, and actually use your MOS skills. In Big Army, you will inventory gas masks and work in the O-room and all kinds of other gay shit that you don't want to do.
What are your fitness stats?
>>
>>65073055
>What are your fitness stats?
I know that it sounds too bad but I simply don't know. I haven't seriously tested myself. Problem is that for past years I have been going to gym only twice per week because of my shitty job, but I'll be completely free at the start of the next month. I'm ready to put my maximum into it, I am, I'm ready to do everything for it.
So uhhh minimum I would say is 8 pull ups, I also tried running a few times after I enlisted, last time i did 2.5 miles in 25 minutes and stopped, I can do better I'm sure. I'm 6.1 and 158lbs. I myself believe that there's a hope for me.
>>
>>65073052

If you want to be in Ranger Regiment you need to work way fucking harder for much longer.
Simply put you might not be able to improve fast enough in 4 months to get to where you need to be.
It takes way more than 3 months of consistent running to get your running pace up to where you need it to be.
A 25 minute 2.5 mile is weak because you will be aiming to run a 2 mile in 13-15 minutes minimum.
RASP is going to kill you.

You might have time for at least a decent trainup, but you need to get your ass in gear and get on a consistent workout schedule starting time now.
This doesn't have to be anything crazy - and if you ramp up the volume and intensity too fast too soon you'll just injure yourself - but you do need to be working instead of thinking about it.
My suggestion would be to take a couple weeks to build up to 3x running sessions a week, aiming for a pace you can hold comfortably while breathing through your nose or talking to a friend without them noticing. This will be slow as fuck but that's the point. Aim for 25 minutes per session to start, then add 10% total volume per week. Every couple weeks, do a fartlek or some hill sprints or some track intervals (400s or 800s). No need to kill yourself on these, just aim for a decently hard pace with at least 1:1.5 work:rest.
Lifting wise, a basic regimen will do, as long as it works every major muscle group 2x a week or so. Test your hand-release pushups, pullups, and a 3 rep hex bar deadlift @ 90% effort or so every 4 weeks, so you can track progress.
The good news is that BCT and AIT will give you a bit more forced exercise which will knock a little off your run times. The not so good news is that this is probably not going to be enough if you want to pass RASP. Once arriving to RASP you will also spend some time in pre RASP, a weird limbo of morning PT and standing around which might give you time to train a bit more and might not, depending on how long you're there.

>>
>>65072925
>>65072942
The moment you get there they will try to make you quit. RASP has a ~50% attrition rate so it's all very, very intense.
Try to do a ranger PFT (RPFT) on your own time.
That alone should give you an idea of how much more effort you need to put in.
Right now, basic is a joke for you but RASP is another demon.
I would say 6-12 months of slow and steady improvement is likely if you can focus on training intensely for that long.

Sup /k/, just wondering if anyone knows anything about the US Army Cyber Corps? How is daily life?

I'm a 34 year old civilian working in cyber security, and I've recently been in contact with a Major who has been trying to get me to apply for the Cyber Direct Commission Program, specifically for the Army Reserves. We initially got into contact due to the company I work for being contracted by the DoD.

Pic related, it's from a PDF he emailed me. I know he's probably just doing the typical recruiter blowing smoke up my ass gig, but he's saying my commission would be at least as an O-3/Captain due to having 12 years of experience in the field, a master's degree, and a ton of industry certifications. I've been in contact with a Chief connected to the unit in which I'd be serving and they seem to be really pushing an application, but I've never really even considered the military.

Do you think it would be worth it? I make a lot of money as a civilian, but something about it seems interesting and fun.
>>
Don’t do it.

>Most of the benefits of active duty for part-time work
>Skip BCT

>Should give management experience
>TS/SCI (with possible CI Poly)
>You will (probably) see cool shit
That sounds pretty great. Because you've never considered the military I won't* go so far as to immediately say do it, but you should strongly consider it. O-3 pay is presumably significantly less than you're making at the moment, but because your company already works with the DoD, they probably have a good pay differential. If you want inspiration, skim these threads (or Google) for the posts complaining about how hard it is to get an officer recruiter to reply to them. That dude reaching out to you first is an impressive sign.

*Caveat: If the unit you're talking to does spook shit I would call you a retard for not doing it.

I was an Air Force cyber enlistoid, not Army cyber officer, so I can't answer those Army-specific questions.

The recruiter knowledgemogged me. While it feels good to have someone on my side who's clearly very competent, I also felt emasculated because I have an autistic obsession with knowing my shit, and he destroyed me on that front.
Anyway:

>Told the recruiter I have an Adderall prescription but I'd like to check no for everything anyway
>Jumped through hoops to opt out of HIEs and information sharing and shit so I thought I was good

>I now assume my prescription will be found (recruiter said the medical results should come back in 2-3 weeks)
>Luckily, because I'm in IRR the enlistment process isn't the usual MEPS assrape process, but instead some streamlined Reserve process I don't know the workings of
>What happens now is a mystery

Also there is a chance I will end up back at Keesler for more training.

anons I need advice: I'm 32 and always wanted to join the USMC, but was too much of a pussy then. I ran my dad's business since I was 16, but since the pandemic, we closed up shop. I've been trying to start other businesses but they've ended in failure. I don't have the heart to start a new business anymore and just want to join the USMC. I get that I'm gonna be forced to work with high schoolers and will be made to do stupid shit, following orders from DIs or COs younger than me, but I don't want to regret anything when I'm in my dying bed. I want to know how stupid this idea is, because I genuinely have no other purpose in life anymore. I spoke with a recruiter and they said I can get a waiver, but my PFT score isn't the best either and I was never an athletic person. Should I just go to other service branches or should I follow my heart?

One of my friends is in the Marine Reserves. Most of the people in my social circle are in the military. Most are in the National Guard. during conversation if its relevant they'll say "in the Guard" for example. but my marine friend never says that, and if someone mentioned him being in the reserves or refers to him as being a "marine reservist" he gets really upset about it. Says he's just a "Marine". I don't really get it tho. He is in the reserves so I don't know why he gets pissed. I don't know much about the active duty marine corps but I imagine they'd view him as a reservist too no?

Active duty get butt fucked because reservists just treat the entire thing like a voluntary vacation with a chance for promotion. They also get the same benefits essentially doing nothing and mentally break down when on the job since they miss their families and take it out on the everyone else who wasn't stupid enough to get married and have a kid before leaving. So it's a coping mechanism for them to act like entitled children since they haven't been in the swing of things for the last 2 years since bootcamp. Also, for whatever reason, they have entirely different promotion rates and will out rank active duty for some fucking reason with even less time in.

Recruiter homie sent me an asspain of a series of forms (basically the SF-86 in all but name) to fill out.
Pic related is one of the questions. I ASSUME the military can see my VA records, right? I have some VA disability conditions going on, nothing that I think is particularly disqualifying, but I think two of them will require waivers. And, again, I don't see how the military could possibly NOT find my VA records, but it would be nice to accidentally select No here and avoid needing more waivers.
>>
>>65093342
You arent going to get screamed at by your recruiter. Atleast they shouldnt. They arent drill sergeants.
You need to go because you need to push yourself. You might fail but you will never know how hard you failed if you dont go.
If you really cared about your fitness you would go. This is conditioning for the real thing. If you dont go now, regardless of pass or fail, you will fail in basic.
If I still didnt convince you, unenlist yourself pussy or gtfoh robert whichever person I'm truly replying to.

No, joining the military as a pilot is probably the best job / career path possible here on Earth.
If you’re age 18-23 and want a bit of fun for a few years, it is also viable to just do combat roles for a while.
But past that everything else is just a waste of time.

ETN1 Shitass here. This meal isn't the travesty it's made out to be. Many meals while underway end up like this as, believe it or not, it is hard to get fresh food in a fucking war zone. That particular dish is gyro meat. The fundamental truth of Navy food is that the quality is HIGHLY dependent on who you are, both in rank and in reputation. E7+ eat SIGNIFICANTLY better, especially CPO-MCPO. Officers have a better dining experience in the ward room, but their food isn't as good as the CPO mess. CPOs are the ones who assign where the CS's go, and believe it or not, but CSCS or CSCM wants him and his friends to eat well. Steak and Lobster are common when bad news is coming. The other half of it is who do (you) know in the galley? Many rates (not nukes lmao get fucked) have to do temp duties for their first few months on the ship. Some become mall cops, some work for MWR (GREAT deal), and some 'crank' in the galley (washing dishes, throwing away trash, whatever). These people make friends with the cooks, and subsequently frequently get greater portions and/or "off menu" meals. On my last deployment, it was common to see some E3 fuckhead with chicken quesadillas and french fries while the ship was on chicken and rice rations.

The Navy is all one big hood and it's really about where you and your grandma are from.

He says the medical process should still be a streamlined IRR/prior service thing, not the whole full-civilian to active duty process, which is great, that's the important thing. But MEPS, man... there are few places I've been to that have had such an overwhelming aura of no fun allowed. Well maybe it's different as prior service, idk.

>>65062364
what up g, I was wondering if you'd post in this thread. Just noticed you already did almost two weeks ago and I somehow missed it lol.
I believe I'm in a pretty niche situation here, not sure if you're here to take on questions in uncharted territory or just the generic ones. But adding on to my reply chain, a VA condition I'm worried about is:
>"shortness of breath/wheezing"
A few months before separating, my supervisor told me it's not normal to keep coughing hours after running. I asked medical about it, they did an FEV(?) test, and I scored just barely above what they would consider asthmatic, but low enough that they were concerned. They prescribed me inhalers (which helped greatly) and scheduled a more comprehensive asthma/lung/pulmonary/whatever test, which never ended up happening because I separated first. I saw the VA for it and they also prescribed me inhalers but never did a full asthma test or whatever. So I have been prescribed asthma inhalers (I haven't refilled the prescription in like a year and a half though), but never actually got diagnosed with asthma. I'll be honest, I'm not fat, but I am very lazy with cardio. But it seems I also have something physically wrong with me?

As for Adderall, I was prescribed that long before joining, did not inform MEPS about it, did my four years without taking it, and then hopped back on it shortly after separating.

So yeah, what do you think about my reenlistment (into the Air Force Reserve) chances and timeline?

If you're looking to push paper and never see a hard days work in your life, maybe even never see water, LS/PS is a great choice, but I'd sooner recommend YN. LS get hella homie hookups as they're literally the ones who bring shit onto the ship, but there is a non-zero chance you do some menial manual labor. PS is just YN reskinned, except you essentially only do personnel based paperwork. YN is my reccomendation as it's the daddy of paper rates and can do an LS/PS job as the Navy needs, and you get to dip your toes in literally any department/division, whereas LS or PS are locked into either supply or personnel. My only caveat is that I current have a Good Deal™ as an E6 with <7 years TIS and I work with a LOT of LS/PS/YNs who are also E6's with >12 years TIS. The trade off is they have a much higher QOL. Half of them have never been on a shit, and the rest only did partial deployments (with an airwing). Choose your rate choose your fate.

All that said, if you were a mechanic, you WILL score well on the ASVAB for things like EN/GS/MM/HT, hell maybe even MMN if you can count to 10 without using your fingers. Understand this:

1. You don't have to sign a contract at MEPs, you can and should walk if you don't get what you want
2. You are choosing not only your day job, but your literal day to day life for 6-10 months at a clip. As a nuke, I did a 600-1600 work day with a revolving 5 hour watch every 15 hours. 4 trainings a week, a written exam every month, numerous briefs a day, blistering heat, oral boards, who gives a fuck. The trade off is me (and all my homies) made rank quickly and uncle sam has given me over $250K to do it as bonuses. Paper pushers do 12 on 12 off, non-rotating, in AC, using adobe pro and sending emails. They also pickup slowly. Everything is a trade off.

Like I said in my Nuke post in the sticky, I generally reccomend against studying for the ASVAB, but in your case, look up the line scores and get ASVAB for dummies.
>>
>>65098311
meant to reply to
>>65096938

MyNavyHR has all the rating's required ASVAB line scores on their respective pages. For example, for YN, (pronounced yo-man), you need

MK + VE = 99 OR CS + MK + VE = 148

If you get study material, you can grind these sections and smoke them on the ASVAB.

https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Career-Management/Community-Management/Enlisted/Administration/YN/

You can also just go the recruiter and ask to take a practice one with no commitment. I enlisted out of NYC and vivdly remember some kids telling me it was their third attempt at the ASVAB as they had failed/not been offered the rate the wanted. Beyond the PROFOUND retardation it takes to fail, they had the right idea to not settle.

Now 10 years on I am committing to an officer path. Only branch that will touch me (for OCS) is Army, but only natty guard and only 'traditional' OCS, which is fuckin one weekend a month, for 18 months. I think it is a relatively clear path (my runtime is abysmal). TIS wont start until I commission. The accelerated option in my state has 5 slots, and the care decides it in phase 0. So it's competitive.
My question is should I go reserves, go back to school for ROTC (either for another bachelors and a masters) and do SMP? TIS will start immediately, I can retool my career, and have enough savings to pay tuition for the most part. I am LCOL area so between SMP and drill pay I could make it work. I would need an age waiver for ROTC more than likely.

To anyone reading this at 16/17/18: if i did it over I would do reserves ASAP then rotc on scholarship and do SMP (in state if you can) and go active for a few years. Nat guard will want their investment back and will guard you jealously. Not sure about SMP for other branches, but do Navy or coast guard if your school has NROTC. They have the best real estate. AFROTC as a runner up. Army or Marines if you're really passionate/driven/retarded like me. Take all this with a grain of salt, I havent done it just research over the past year.

Life is going to fuck you no matter what, so take your advantages while you can. Also don't smoke or do drugs. Wait til you're on 100% disability at 38

Sounds like possible exercise induced asthma. There are many ways to quantify the disease burden and discover just how much of an impact it is, I would go to your doctor and get this worked up. Unfortunately, according to DODI 6130.03 vol 1, section 6.10, any history of reactive airway disease and any history of inhaled steroid/beta agonist is dq. Depends on if you meet diagnostic criteria after all.

The Adderall is another story. Depends on why it was prescribed, if you're still using it etc. If you havent needed it in a year or so I think you're golden iirc, just need a doctor to say "Yeah he hasn't needed it, hasn't used it, and has been asymptomatic."

Might need a waiver for the RAD thing tho >.>

whats the closest thing to joining the military without actually joining the military

he told me to take the test again in 2 weeks, i also told him that i've been smoking weed so get off that shit too.
i've been considering the yeoman mainly because i worked as diesel mechanic before and i HATED it, i rather do paperwork

I'm kinda in the same boat as this guy >>65100077 but i'm actually starting to consider military now. Considering chairforce honestly. Got a few questions about things
- How long is boot camp and what does it entail exactly?
- Upon finishing bootcamp, am I deployed immediately?
- I have no real skills or experience, what sort of jobs in the airforce should I consider? Personally like the idea of OT or maintenence stuff.
- stupid thing, but do you ACTUALLY shower with other guys? I've seen the whole "youll' get used to it" saying but damn.

>>
>>65104104
>- How long is boot camp and what does it entail exactly?
7.5 weeks. idk about air force specifically but all boot camps are basically designed to stress you through physical exercise and time standards and light yelling so that you have a military bearing at the end of it. not very hard and kinda fun depending on your personality. you'll shoot a rifle and stuff too.
>- Upon finishing bootcamp, am I deployed immediately?
lolno, you go to a unit and then you deploy only if your unit is deploying.
>- I have no real skills or experience, what sort of jobs in the airforce should I consider? Personally like the idea of OT or maintenence stuff.
maintenance, by all accounts, is full of long hours and suffering in the air force. please, please consider something better, like intelligence, cyber, linguist, or even just supply instead of this unless you really fucking love 12 hour shifts turning wrenches.
>- stupid thing, but do you ACTUALLY shower with other guys? I've seen the whole "youll' get used to it" saying but damn.
yes, you unironically stop caring after the first time. air force boot camp probably has shower stalls anyway but if you deploy you might shower in an open shower area with other dudes. it's only weird if you make it weird.
>>
>>65104104
Air Force makes you list 10 jobs and depending on the recruiter they'll pick one for you from the list, some will let you wait but it's rarer now. Sometimes they'll give you a job not on your list and say take it or get lost. Pretty much the worst branch for actually deciding what YOU will do, and it's designed that way to get as many people in security forces and maintenance as possible by attracting them with the possibility of doing something fun or easy. Still not a bad gamble
Navy and Army you get to pick the exact job if it's available. Marines you choose a job type. Coast Guard you can choose to apprentice (undesignated) to get in quick or waitlist for a job.
This changes Officer side where the Army gives jobs based on performance (West Point, ROTC or OCS top performers pick first, lower performers pick last, you sign to be an Officer not a job), Navy will let you apply to multiple jobs but unless you are a superstar with a stellar GPA you're getting SWO, then your sub-type of SWO is determined by performance, you can get pilot if you're healthy enough too but the sub-type is also based on if you're a superstar or not. Marines do the same thing as the Army afaik (may be wrong), Air Force lets Officers pick their job (pro-tip, you're not going to get Pilot unless you went academy or were a superstar in ROTC, OTS is a no-go)

Do you have any medical problems, criminal history, massive debt, or drug use? What are your fitness stats (height/weight/last mile run/big 3 lifts)?
If you are eligible for a TS clearance you should look at intel or cyber.
>>
>>65098311
Something to be careful about nuke is that they will yank that shit away from you if you hit the age requirement and the officer doesn't feel like doing a waiver. The test is easy as shit, but I can't go over what's on it from non disclosure agreements I imagine.

A good engineering rating is Machinist Mate auxiliary for submarines, you are essentially all naval engineering rates outside of nuclear. They have a weapons version of it too, but that's just a sub GM

Avoid SECF, the promotion rates are awful, literally stuck at e5 for 20 years at a time.
>>
>>65104246
You are way overqualified, could be a route for a medical license if that is too competitive due to limits, but every military doctor I have met hates their life and I don't recommend it.
>>
So realistically what does space force do? Are they more specialized and require previous experience and qualifications? All I can think of is potentially work with satellites.
>>
>>65104826
satellites, monitoring launches, monitoring whatever the fuck the sun is up to and make sure it's not going to fuck up sensitive equipment, setting up and maintaining monitoring equipment, various extremely classified things.
They exist for the same reason the Air Force does. The Army couldn't be trusted to train people to the standards to keep planes running, and everyone else couldn't be trusted to prioritize giving a shit about space when they want other, lower minded things short term. It's been recommended for decades before it manifested, and is needed, but it's still a baby branch.
I doubt they'll ever be cool enough to use naval ranks like they should, but once they start sending dudes to actually do things in space they're going to need the Navy to train them on how to run watch since nobody else has experience with the concept a vessel needs someone making sure it doesn't shit out on you at a random time
>>
>>65104342
No to those first 4. Going to be honest, I am a dwarf of a man. 5'1ish and 120 last I checked. No idea on fitness stats. For the top secret clearance, I saw that having dual citizenship can be a factor that may disqualify you. I've got Japanese citizenship, but born/raised in the states and can't even speak Japanese. I am interested in cyber stuff now though
>>
I got sent home from Army Basic training because of ADHD. Would it even be realistic to re-enlist into a different branch such as the Space Force? Or am i basically out of luck to reenlist?

>>65105528
Can you take a picture of the section of your DD-214 at the bottom that characterizes your discharge so we can better assess?
>>
>>65105625

>>
>>65104986
Your size is fine. You're right that dual citizenship is a problem and you will probably need to surrender your Japanese citizenship if you want a TS (though I am not an expert on this or a clearance adjudicator and you should do some of your own research).
Over the next week or so, try to gather some basic fitness data about yourself. Get a stopwatch and time yourself doing as many pushups as you can in 2 minutes, then the same for situps or crunches. Go out and run 1 or 2 miles as quickly as you can and time it. If you have been lifting already, test your 3-rep max for the basic barbell lifts, and if you haven't, go read the sticky on /fit/.

Im going to RTT bros

I cant wait months and months for a reclass since i cant do my signed job

The lack of freedom and total oppression is killing my soul
DS said im unpromoteable due to re-4 hes marking me with and bad councelings ruining my record so i will be stuck E1 forever

If i cant do my signed job why am i going go spend 6 years doing some random bs job i dont care about and wasnt drawn to while making like not even 12k a year
Just to get a home loan that i cant even fully utilize towards a investment property since i wont have income to back it up?

This has gone from a dream to a nightmare so fucking fast

>Am i making a huge mistake?
My heart wants to stop running away from difficult things and fulfill my commitments i have made and be a soldier and carry that with me for the rest of my life
But the rest of me wants to walk away while i still can and get a normal job and live a normal life

If i stick it out i will be almost 30 when my contract is over with barely 70k-ish to show for it

I could make 70k 80k even a year in the civilian world

I wanted to do cool high speed shit
I wanted to be a door kicker
I wanted to be awesome and turn my life around 180 360

>I also failed combat standards and was told im being reclassed and the trainee news network told me that will be a minimum 3 weeks to maximum 4 or more months long process
You failed the combat standard on the AFT, you mean? Was it your first failure or is this a pattern?
Ignore the TNN, they don't know shit. Also ignore how long it may or may not take. Even if it does take 4 months, so what? You'll hang out and draw pay that whole time and a year from now you'll barely remember it.
>DS said the reclass will come with a re-4 ineligible for reinlistment mark on my record that will nuke my chances for schools promotions etc
RE-4 is a reentry code if you get chaptered out of the Army, not something that goes on your record if you get reclassed. Also, if you do get reclassed and graduate, again, your first unit will not give a flying fuck about whatever happened in basic training or AIT unless it involved an actual crime (and not some stupid shit about fireguard, lol).

What specific events did you fail to reach the combat standard on? What is your MOS? The best move for you is to just lock the fuck in and crush your next AFT rather than going to pieces over what might or might not happen or some dumb shit random privates told you or the smoke your DS is blowing up your ass.

>This was last year.
I got my testicles SWIFTLY gripped on the varicocele for some reason and yes, it was shocking. It didn't hurt right away but later I was feeling uncomfortable because I was gripped rather harshly.

I looked it up, doctors are allowed to do this at MEPS.
My doctor was a female, though I would have not really cared either way. I was also watched by a male MSG as per their policy.

I think you believe that your old timer boomer experiences are the DEFINITIVE military experience and NOTHING will ever change policy wise, which is just wrong.
Things change all the time. I mean, just in this thread I stated that phones werent allowed in my MEPS and you implied that I was lying.

How does a picture of your hand prove you aren't Robert? Robert is a white male.

Anyways, if you are not lying, then you have every right to report this incident. You "looked this up" and yet I can tell you with certainty they are not authorized to do this, doubly so given that a female was involved.

You can either choose to be a bitch that wants to shiver in fear at remembering his balls getting (wo)manhandled or stand up for yourself because the incident you are describing is NOT acceptable or permissible. I know you won't report it because you are a liar, but I am making it clear that you are not going to just "prove me wrong" with a bullshit story and I am not going to change my tune. I am dead certain about what I have stated.

I think the C7A2 is a beautiful weapon but I have never been handed one that has the sights properly aligned at all, and once got one that was literally missing its rear sight entirely. This was in a maritime environment where the average shot is made over a literal mile. Very annoying. I was never expected to hit anything and be tallied for score, but still. How can you expect me to work properly with such paltry gear?

I prefer the original C7, which was basically an M16A2 with the nice hard fixed stock and carry handle integrated into the top of the receiver, but that's a little oldschool and no longer suitable because aftermarket sights exist and even CoDguy shit aside, Canada now issues ELCANs as standard which fit onto a picatinny rail.

We also got new pistols recently, but I've heard it's become a bit of a kerfuffle. I actually really liked the new P320s since they actually feel way more safe -- the old P226's are all clapped out and the few things keeping you safe don't work anymore due to wear and tear. I actually felt really unsafe on range days, because the guns are so worn down that the slide locks are smoothed over and don't work and the magazines are so clapped out they barely fit rounds anymore. But apparently a few pigs shot themselves in the leg by putting their booger hook in the wrong spot, so now we can't have new pistols.
>>
Now, if it were up to me, in the marine evironment (as in being on boats doing "force protection" on a ship that has fitted M2s) the standard rifle would be a proper full length rifle, and you would only issue that instead of marksmen rifles because of training requirements. Maybe just have FN Minimis with 4x scopes and STANAG mags instead of belts as standard.

>ohh anon but they feed so badly from mags, so unreliable!!!
Here's a can of Ballistol and four dues with guns that might work if yours stops. If you have a complaint, the CWIS can be manually aimed, and the 57mm and bow down low enough that we're more prepared for a firefight than the average tank. We're on a fucking ship expected to throw down with other ships. A guy with a gun isn't even a threat, even an anti-tank launcher at worst will take out a coffee machine. Why are we relying on carbines?

arm force protection with rocket launchers and sniper rifles, and have the more specialized team on standby with a mortar

it's a ship, not an infantry section

>Oh no! Gangsters are here next to our ship that docked in the industrial area!
I bet my P226 with eight rounds and having one(1) extra mag in a janky pocket will surely let me win a firefight with twelve niggers operating Tec-9s with the drum mags becuase they are trapped in a time loop from Nineteen Ninety Never and haven't graduated to Dracos and PS90s

"Surely, this cover will protect me.", I say to no one in particular as I crouch behind an open railing as my pistol fails to feed. I cut the sling of my rifle and dump my pockets of every magazine to shed extra weight, knowing that I have been issued blanks. "Sights are an insult to the operator," I remind myself, before fumbling my keys because the airsoft-grade red-dot sight I brought from home is still in my pocket, creating clutter. I duck inside to unlock the "magazine" and draw a rifle. No ammo. That's stored more deeply inside the ship. I affix a bayonet I bought off of Amazon. It snaps off its mount under its own weight. "A toy for pompous generals..." I think to myself. The firefight has ended. The niggers have left, bored. In frustration, I hit the main gun with a closed fist. Nothing happens. It was made by the lowest bidder. The main housing crumples before me. It is but a tent for the millions of dollars of RADAR and LIDAR equipment inside, constantly ready to acquire a target the size and signature of a firefly but unable to destroy it, as no ammo has been loaded since the gun was installed.

Anyway, the C7 rules, and the P226 is okay but every surviving example is clapped out. The P320 did nothing wrong.

Tripling down on your retardation is a failing strategy. Now please, report this fictional incident instead of whining on 4chan and trying to "win" an argument on /meg/... you know, like Robert has been trying to do for 6 years.

Yep, we've all read the replies to Robert reminding him that he has been so thoroughly buckbroken that he can't stop coming here to get bullied and abused by strangers on the internet. Poor guy couldn't even go a week before his mental bussy demanded a good mindfucking.

I'm the best IT monkey! I'm the best shot! Give me a toughpad and a C7 and a good radio and let me bring my toolbags and other shit from home and I am the best in a boat! I weigh 200kg after tools and I am the best!!!

Never served, huh? They are a dime a dozen in the military. At least this guy isn't showing me pictures of anthropomorphic bird cocks (which I have seen, against my will, more times than I care to admit).

There wasnt an argument.
There was what you were saying (total bullshit based on what the military was like 25 years ago)
And then there was what I was saying (anecdote with emperical evidence)

Since you aren't
>trying to prove your opinion with a source
>a MEPS worker
>a MEPS doctor
>or active service
Your answers to me are simply an opinion.

>Bonus trvthnuke:
Because you can't absorb new information, you are a fucking boomer.
>>65109549
You are, IN FACT going to have doctors test you for testicular cancer. If you go through MEPS, expect your testicles to be inspected BY HAND.

Maybe because everyone you talk to that doesnt have a 1:1 experience with yours isnt fucking robert, boomer moron.
>>65109549
Its a 100% possibility you will get your testicles examined at MEPS for testicular cancer.

RE-3 means you need a waiver for the air force. Not sure about the other branches. You might need a second one with the ADHD.
How old are you? If you are <25, I suggest exploring other career opportunities out there, especially ones that are more "friendly" to those with your condition. If you hate them, the military will still be around for you to try and join.

Still wrong, and I'll know it's you when you decide to keep talking about this as if this is the grand strategy to "defeat /meg/". 6 years of desperation and all you have left is "Don't enlist or somebody will touch your balls".
>>
>>65110037
i wish somebody would touch my balls
>>

Damn, I can't believe you got anywhere in the military being this stubborn.
>>65109549
Still a 100% chance you will get your testicles examined at MEPS for testicular cancer.
There is no way they can do so otherwise.
There is no alternative hypothesis. It is a certain guarantee.

Anon if you come back, or anyone else in a similar situation, I went through the Army Fellows Program just after lockdown started. One of the guys a year ahead of me in the program when to Army CyberCom as a civ. FYI, you don't NEED to enlist to get those jobs.

>>65081614
>O-3 pay is presumably significantly less than you're making at the moment
NTA, but I took a significant pay cut, ~30k, to for the Army Fellows job. I figured the government would have better job security and benefits and after 4 years I was making more thanks to locality pay and better benefits than my old job.

>Fellows program is 2 years
>full remote
>roll I applied for needed TS but no poly
>got hired over a year after applying
>swear oath of office over phone in conference call
>go to local base once to get pc + CAC
>year one pay is O1/GS7
>year two auto pay bump to O2/GS9
>spend the time rotating around to various teams
>more time with ones doing work I'm interested in
>mostly get assigned 'busy work' and someone to shadow
>teams call, they screenshare while working for an hour or two, take a break then do it again after lunch
>IF you are in good standing at the end, get hired as O3/GS11
>they try to place you with a team you liked and worked well with
>got O4/GS12 via accretion of duties the next year
>just did work I could easily do thanks to my previous experience but was above and beyond my current position description
