Now I collect long slide 10mms because hehe boom boom. I hike near the northern border and carry a g45 or shield plus with flatnose 9mm because shit is too heavy and unwieldy to hike with if you actually want it handy.

Hot 10mm is not something you'd want to use for self defense because it's hard to control for even veteran shooters. I suspect the main reason manufacturers underload common 10mm is because most .40 cal expanding projectiles are designed for 40 SW velocities. Gold dots in particular.
