Behold, a Leopard 1a5
Soon.

>>65070231>Leopard 1A5 zr. 2025Apparently they use zr in Ukrainian instead of obr for Russian/Russian speaking Ukrainian.
>>65070227Does era even do anything if the armor is this thin?
>>65070287Armor this thin was the reason why ERA was applied to the sides of T-72 and T-80.
>>65070227Slowly starting to resemble the unit from Red Alert.
>>65070287>if the armor is this thinIf you are wondering if the ERA is going to break the leopard 1 side armor then no and I can explain why using facts and logic.https://www.jaegerplatoon.net/OTHER_AT_WEAPONS1.htm> "500 grams of TNT was enough to break 12-mm thick armour plate if pressed against it">"800 grams of TNT was the smallest practical useful explosive">"This was closely equal to bundle of six old German M/1917 stick hand grenades, 6 x stick hand grenade M/17 á 125 grams of TNT = 750 grams of TNT"https://thesovietarmourblog.blogspot.com/p/kontakt-1.html>"Each Kontakt-1 block consists of two 4S20 explosive elements">"The mass of the explosive material in each element is 260 grams and the explosive power is equivalent to 280 grams of TNT."Everytime a kontakt-1 block explodes then it has the explosive force of 560 grams of TNT, if you combine that with the one 2.3mm steel flyer plate that impacts the the tank it is mounted on then it is no wonder why something weakly armored like the BMP or BTR dies when the ERA explodes since the armor will break and turn into high speed fragments for the crew. The leopard 1 thanks to having pretty much twice the side armor thickness then the BMP-1 wont suffer from this fate. It also helps that the ERA is not directly placed on the side armor but on a metal frame which has some distance from the armor which will help lower the explosive shock effect on the side armor. Now is the ERA actually going to stop any HEAT warhead? That depends, kontakt 1 reduces the penetration of the HEAT warhead by 55% or up to 90% depending on hit angle or warhead type. A generic 300 mm penetration rpg warhead will defeat the side armor if it is only reduced by 55%. The ERA module could also not be using kontakt 1 explosive but Nizh which will fit perfectly inside a kontakt 1 module. I dont know enough about Nizh to talk about it confidently so im gona leave it at that.
>There was a report that a Leopard 1 tank that we got here, not the 2A, the 1A, so older less tough version. Took 52 drone strikes and was able to be driven off by the crew.
>>65070227Aren't Ukrainians saying that Leopard 1's are better than Leopard 2's?
>>65070227Ach mein gott! What have you been feeding her?
>>65070800No, but they found them surprisingly useful and more survivable than expected.
>>65070227
>>65071378I dunno man, I think it's funny and cool to see stuff like this actually being doneHistory being written in physical artifacts
>>65070227big chungus tank
>>65070227needs more desu
>>65070246Zr == zrazka ("example of" in ukie)Orb == Obraztsa ("example of" in ruslim)
>>65075248It looks incredibly cargo culty to me. It's not on the same level of retardation like ziggers putting ERA on Buhankas and BTRs but it's close. The absolute worst travesty were Abramses plastered with this garbage.
>>65076701>It's not on the same level of retardation like ziggers putting ERA on Buhankas and BTRs If you remove the explosive lens, it's just like putting an extra ~15 mm of applique plating, except in easier-to-replace modules.
>>65076701given the thinner armor of a leopard 1 those bricks will actually help surviving a pg-7 warhead at least in the frontal arc.
>>65070227what's the point of putting ERA on an unarmored vehicle? it will just explode and kill everyone inside
>>65076701>but it's closeNope, it's perfectly fine to install ERA blocks onto a tank, even if it has weak armor.
>>65076701If anything its cargo culty to get upset about up-armored vehicles because of vibes and æstethics.
