At the start of the Ukraine war there were a lot of anons here (majority maybe even) who claimed that drones are an afterthought. But now drones have:>completely stopped the Russian military advance>blockaded the strait of Hormuz against the US military will
>>65070572Drones threaten the relevance of infantry in warfare and that offends many people on an emotional level. Anyone looking at it rationally could have told you they would be important in 2022 and even way earlier. That said, drones are a case where the drone is cheaper and easier to field than the countermeasures. Ukraine has few of those. Future wars between first rate powers will have more.
>>65070572>>65070579Samefag OP. Your drones didn't save the Ayatollah so scuttle on back to /pol/

>>65070579>>65070581>>65070583I wasn't even talking about the iran situation, because I don't know much about it. I was talking purely about ukraine.
>>65070572>blockaded the strait of Hormuz against the US military willTrump just announced that the US will be the ones blockading.
Are drones actually relevant to blocking the strait? Seems to me normal missiles can do that just the same.I know ukraine has had success with seaborne drones, does iran have similar things?
Drones are irrelevant to DEW equipped militaries.
>Ukrainefag shills are now arguing with Jewish agitprop shills>the goblins are infighting with the gremlins
>>65070608They are relevant insofar as it means that Iran can assemble munitions capable of locking down the strait in someone's back shed, instead of needing advanced electronics and an entire factory to manufacture something good enough for the job. This is a very useful capability when the US is bombing every strategically relevant target with impunity, because it allows Iran to disperse its drone manufacturing enough that the US can't shut it down entirely.
I hate thirdie shills, but I hate smug American as well. Hard to know who to root for.
>>65070617Gonna be interesting. Defeating recon drones will be really useful. Attack drones on the other hand may be able to fly too low to be defeated in time. And DEW can also defeat artillery and the likes. Is that the way for tanks to come back into the game?
>>65070624Good point.
>>65070600its his plan all along, someone has to buy the venezuelan oil
>>65070624>instead of needing advanced electronics and an entire factory to manufacture something good enough for the job.You need pretty advanced factories to produce these electronics (they are in USA though so America can't bomb them).
>>65070664Does china produce comparable electronics?
>>65070681They don't make anything in the same class as the FPGA. They make comparable chips to the rest, but in very small numbers. China's entire semiconductor industry combined would add up to be the fifth or sixth largest foundry in the world, they don't actually make many chips.
