Opinion on the new Imperial Guard weapons?

Warhammer factions think about maneuver?
>>
>>65075281
I like the armoured cars, but the Leman Russ replacement should have been done in 2003-2007.

they shrank maps and made some elements slower

What about the melee version?
>>
>>65075283
Eldar are THE fire and maneuver faction. Playing against someone who knows how to properly do the move-shoot-move gameplay is complete bullshit
>>65075648
I was more excited about the pickelhaube guys far more than the bland commissar and her 2000AD truck
>>
>>65075648

>>
>>65075281
Half-track makes sense as a localized thing like the Siegfried to the Death Korps, but its presence as a standard IG unit only makes the fact the Guard don't have access to the Rhino when even the freaking PDF and Genestealer Cults do all the more conspicuous.
Did they do something to piss off an Arch Magos who personally ensured they wouldn't get access to the metal box?
>>
>>65075281
Better designs than the death kill murder truck to be sure.
>>
>>65075907
From a logistics standpoint it kinda makes since. I imagine it'd be easier to repair and source parts for, and we all know how much the guard and admech love logistical optimization.
>>
>>65075281
pointless shit. Taurox should have been a half track from the get go and the new scout car is retarded as the guard already have a scout vehicle called the sentinel.

You mean in 4th edition? Why?
>>
>>65076368
They had better designers back then. And by that time they had redone just about every other vehicle chassis.
It wasn't a particularly good design by 2nd ed standards, by 3.5 it sucked dick.

How the fuck do you change mags on that mounted heavy bolter or whatever it is?
>>
>>65075616
that was their lore from 3rd-5th. Now they rush into hand to hand combat range and no longer use their drones or stealth suits for recon/intelligence gathering..

GW fucking sucks ass at writing the tau.

I mean, the 1995 plastic kit was remade in 2009, are you saying instead of slight changes, a turret inspired by the recent forge world kits and all the missing cannon/sponson variants, they would have made a serious design overall if the new plastic was instead made around 2003-2004? They probably started design on the 2009 kit years earlier if we're going off usual GW development cycle. Did the company lose that much talent in that small window?
>>
>>65075648
>>65075281
I really don't understand what motivated the model designers to add that fixed forward-firing minigun on some of the new Imperial Guard vehicles.

The whole point of a super high rate-of-fire weapon like that is to track moving targets or sweep across enemy positions, so it makes no sense in a fixed hull mount. A mount like that is suited more for a bunker-busting howitzer like you can see on the French Char B1 tank.
>>
>>65076328
I love these warhammer threads are always full of people who pretend every fucking time, you ignore the ACTUAL original salamander scout tank

So even with nu 40k changing lore and introducing newly designed vehicles it seems like they are still on the “no jet bike” rule as recently a white scar character finally got his own but only him

Why would you even use a regular bikinis jet bikes exist? That happens in 30k

what is the advantage of a bullpup lasgun
>>
>>65077269
Actually a bullpup lasgun makes far more sense than a "traditional" rifle setup, the only advantage other lasguns have is bayonet use. Unlike projectile weapons lasguns have no moving parts and no mechanical triggers, everything is electric.
>>
>>65076389
You think that's bad? check out this design from the supposed true inheritors of the former human interstellar empire that consider themselves superior to the imperium in every way.

No idea where you got that from, Imperial Armour went away because the ruleset changed massively with 8th edition and FW moved over to mainly doing HH, not because of somebody making an image comparing the armor protection of a Leman Russ vs a M1 Abrams.

I imagine BETA would provide some trouble to a planet where they were allowed to get established and set up a underground hive and produce laser class. Otherwise anyone with enough firepower can take out an initial landing.

>>65077419
Generally agree. A heavily infested BETA planet would probably be dealt with by orbital bombardment. All the epic land battles in 40k happen because one side's navy is busy or delayed or defeated or can't risk bombarding something valuable. You need fleet engagements to win strategic battles in 40k and the BETA would be no exception. BETA have no spaceships and can't infest another world until a hive has grown enough to railgun eggs into space or whatever. They're a big threat, but a familiar problem.
