I took a long range class. If I can convince my local range to put gongs at 800m I want to buy a Sabatti Rover Shooter.
>>
>>65076405
>Sabatti Rover

Triple check the crown for burrs, it's a known issue with some Sabatti rifles. Recent batches (2024 and later) should be ok, but check anyways.

Other than that, it's a pretty damn good rifle.
>>
>>65076405
Nice. I've got a cheapo "sub-moa" "rated" bolt action and it can hit a 10 ring reliably at 100m. Wondering how accurate that thing really is but I don't know of any good places around here I can shoot over 100m. New range is opening up soon (max 50m) but they might let me shoot some beercans or something so I can at least dick around with suppressed subsonic rounds making noise at the other end.

>>65076363
Define too much hassle.
>>
>>65076454
I bought a custom Rem 700 from my friend for €1200 and have barely even shot it lol

Thanks for the tip, I'm honestly still undecided as at first I wanted to get a Tikka T3X, but I figured since Sabatti are a good value for your buck that I'd buy something Italian. I just know that my scope is gonna be a SWFA SS even if they are hard to get here in Europe.
>>65076454
>I don't know of any good places around here I can shoot over 100m.
Same, my range has paper targets only up to 200m now and past that it's just gongs. But it's up the side of a mountain so you'd also need to account for that which can make it fun. (except when I was starting out and couldn't understand why my shots were hitting high)
>>
>>65076654
>Tikka T3X
Wtf stop being me. Anyway heard compared to competition at that price Tikkas are the ones that can be improved but otherwise come with the best stock parts, most others you'd need to buy a better trigger or something else.

>you'd also need to account for that which can make it fun
Heard that after the ICE sniper whiffed all his shots, how does that work? Having to aim higher when going down I mean.
>>
>>65076667
>Tikkas are the ones that can be improved
Yes I saw that. Their third party chassis systems were part of the reason I wanted one.
>Having to aim higher when going down I mean.
Lower, you aim lower wheter you're shooting at something that is higher or lower than you. This is because the bullet does not fall as far away from its original path.
Back when I had bought my first rifle I experienced this, I had just zeroed the optic after some troubles (posp 4x lmao), measured the distance and set the turret appropriately and yet I was still hitting high. I had no idea I needed to do this so I kept wasting ammo going back to the 100m line rezeroing the optic thinking I was doing something wrong there.
If you're interested a good book on this is "Long Range Shooting Handbook" by Cleckner at chapter 19.

>>65076363
None, I think Poland and Switzerland are the best you can get. I bought a new firing pin for my 1889 from a Swiss guy who was running a private museum and had RPGs even iirc. I seem to remember Poland having a similar deal.

>How the fuck do you deal with fogging on safety glasses, I've dried anti-fog sprays and all sorts. It's driving me insane.
Somehow wearing glasses and safety glasses didn't get much fogging, indoor range so good ventilation? Otherwise outdoor boomer (hunting) ranges just let you go with normal glasses but I'm sure that can bite one in the ass eventually, even if shooting bolt actions etc.

>Poland
Yeah, you can get special permission on a collector's license. You can still buy bullets and take your gun to the range, no need to make it non-functional although they're trying to slide that shit. Possibly on a self defense/defense of others license but those are hard to get unless you're boinking the police form what I've heard.

Heavily depends on how you define hassle.
In Czhech republic it's "move to somewhere where the police chief isn't a complete faggot, have the highest tier of safe and accept annual inspections from your local PD" which may not mean too much hassle compared to other countries, but is still a lot more pain compared to the previous requirement of "don't be a criminal / junkie / schizo and pass this equivalent of a driver's license test" which enables you to own essentially everything else imaginable.

>>65078096

New York state alone requires FOUR notarised references (even the UK only requires two for shotgun or firearms certificates), to obtain a licence to own handguns or any semi automatic firearm, with many counties requiring interviews with references, 18 hour course minimum, six month processing time in any county, a complete a history of your health records, and has an "assault weapon" ban, a complete ban on magazines over ten rounds, a ban on suppressors, and even if you have a permit you cant order guns and ammo online and have them shipped to your house. Also county judges approve the permits and not police. NYC is even stricter than all of that too kek.

Hello shooters, how are you guys with your ammo stocks? I'm a bit low on .223 and all the hunting shops here are out of the cheapo 55gr. Fiocchi training ammo.
>>
>>65078135
I'm sitting on so much surplus 5.56 that I gave up on reloading .223 entirely and I have high hopes of turning my remaining rather extensive stockpile of pre-covid Hornady 55gr FMJBT into dirt cheap 5.7x28.
>>
>>65078135
I have jack shit for ammo, my salary isn't even that bad and I can't buy remotely enough at these current rape prices
>>
>>65078146
Isn't 5.7x28 brass really annoying to reload? I've been told that FN lubes the casings to ensure reliability or some crap.
>>
>>65078135
Im good on 9mm, 308 and 30-06, but cant find 303 for the life of me
>>
>>65078161
Yeah it's perfectly straight walled so it wouldn't work reliably in the 50rd mag otherwise, so they have to put this polymer lube coat on it to get it to extract.
That means you can't tumble it like normal brass but you can just put it in lukewarm water with some dish soap and gently agitate it, then resize normally.
It's kind of a pain in the ass but you save something like ~90% on every new round which is even better than reloading unobtanium old timer wildcats.

>>65078164
The secret is pulling bullets out of surplus LPS 7.62x54R and sticking them in .303 brass, sweetest .303 you'll ever shoot and it even works in shot out 2-groove barrels that will make off-the-shelf ammo keyhole.

Dunno about your particular country but I looked at importing a Danish Krag to the UK and the paperwork made is such a pain as to not be worth the effort. I've been advised by others who've done it that you basically need to buy 3 guns, two to sell to cover the costs. This is with Danish Krags not being licenced in the UK btw. Not sure if you have to get import/export permits for weapons between EU members though, I would think so.

Seccond you have to know locals. If anything i would probably take a moldova guy I know and go there or to transnistira.
The "Russians" there are stuck for a good while now, and sitting on the biggest arms depot of eastern europe. Just food for tought tho.
Too much of a pussy to do any of this, the esiest option is to go to a gypsie hood, pic related.

How tho? I live on the ass end of Europe ,importation laws are retarded and gun shops suck cock only Carter to hunters or law enforcement. Only way is to buy from someone who can import them or has One and wants to sell
>>65078407
You have to get a gunsmith license, which unrelated to the carry license i already have. Then get another permite from the Police to the weapons in question.
All this costa a ton and all goes trough the Police who at any step can decide you reasoning is not good enough and just say no. Oh and ofcourse the customs paper work and taxes
