This is because the bullet does not fall as far away from its original path. Back when I had bought my first rifle I experienced this, I had just zeroed the optic after some troubles (posp 4x lmao), measured the distance and set the turret appropriately and yet I was still hitting high. I had no idea I needed to do this so I kept wasting ammo going back to the 100m line rezeroing the optic thinking I was doing something wrong there. If you're interested a good book on this is "Long Range Shooting Handbook" by Cleckner at chapter 19.

I've been advised by others who've done it that you basically need to buy 3 guns, two to sell to cover the costs. This is with Danish Krags not being licenced in the UK btw.
