The M1A2 Abrams has this thing through the commander's thermal camera where the commander can overlay the silhouette of known tanks on a target and the computer will then calculate a firing solution based on this. laser emissions free

I wouldn't say the PSO is a modern optic. Though tbf, a stadiametric chart cant really be improved on, its as good as passive rangefinding gets; I just dont think the PSO is a good example of it. Mildots are less user friendly and christmas trees are visual noise.
