How does it compare to modern IFVs?How difficult would it be to take down with modern weapons?
>>65084943>falls to teddy bears with sticks and rocksIt's shit.
>>65084943>defeated by retarded midget monkeys Grim.
>>65084943>terrible armor>terrible armament>terrible usageIt's dogshit.
>>65084943>How does it compare to modern IFVs?Sells more plastic toys.
>>65084943it's only advantage would be intimidation; it's tall and imposing. maybe has some advantages over really rough and varied terrain if you want to move slow and clunky.
>>65084943ATST episode was the only good one in Mando. Had farm waifu and really showed off how scary an armored vic is if you dont have reliable AT
>>65085038Pretty much anything trying to kill you is scary I'd you do not have the means to kill it back.
>>65084943Its not an IFV, its more like a panhard AML or a V-100 commando.
>>65084943They're weapons of terror. They're made to intimidate their enemies.
>>65084943It was a Wiesel in space more or less. Not very difficult to disable, but a very nimble and dangerous asset in terrain that's otherwise the domain of light infantry, which enables decisive counterattacks. The effect of enfilading fire from the likes of Audie Murphy or Simo Hayha demonstrate the danger; at the controls of this sort of vehicle that caliber of soldier is now bulletproof with a bottomless magazine and bounding through the trees at 40km/h.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iTrNvuWwq8&t=172s
First, it has to be said that something that can move 90km/h off road (flat terrain) but also be able to hike itself across hills, jungles swamps, arctic circles and moons isn't highly rated enough. Accept for a minute that the fantasy mech does actually have this power of fast traverse the thing just completely becomes a tool without any precedent irl and it's worth in being able to drive by raid from inside the wilderness..Second, its going to be able to can fire off waaaay more shots with it's guns then any real IFV would because of just how efficient Blaster gas cells are compared to bullets shells. Vehicle mounted blaster shot efficiency/number is a level of gritnitty that escapes me and the wookiepdia browse but i don't think it's unfounded to think that the precedent of a blaster gas being rated for 200+ firings has some bleedover into vehicle weapons having a casual relationship with notions of ammo conservation. Third, It's operating range is higher then real vehicles as well for basically the same reasons as the blaster gas supply being so excessive. AT-ST's 'specificly' are never mentioned for range, good or bad but there are instances of this vehicular range magic scattered about like. >>65085017>>65085101Scout walker was not a terror design. Chicken walkers were a thing that was effective during clone wars time. The cow AT-ATs were mistakes as actual terror weapon 'value' replacing the juggernaut design.
>>65084943Sorta more like a Ferret or Dingo, maybe a BRDM-2 armoured car, none of them stood up well to cannon fire and they'd pop to anything like a dedicated anti-vehicle rocket or missile>>65084953Little bear gotta eat!
>>65085017>it's only advantage would be intimidationHello Brigador.
>>65084943Can be busted by two logs swinging together/10
>>65085359Those were fucking massive logs tho, redwood-tier. AT-ST viewports are wider than a human torso, and the both logs are at least 3 viewports wide; so a good 5+ ft wide; and if its 20 ft long it could easily be 10 tons; and I don't think anybody would shit on a cold war scout car being crushed by a 20 ton sudden impact.
>>65085336I wish I could play that game over, just like before I had even tried it. It was awesome. Not sure what to think about Brigador Killers, as it seems to have a lot smaller focus than being able to level entire cities with artillery.
>>65085377They have FTL tech, anon.
>>65084943It pleases me.>>65085336>>65085570Killers is vaporware until I see it for sale, they've been developing it for years.
>>65084943>How difficult would it be to take down with modern weapons?
>>65085241>Accept for a minute that the fantasy mech does actually have this power of fast traverseThe problem is that this is a really really big fantasy leap. And if you're asking me to make a leap that big it's not much farther to go full Gundam.Anyway, If we assume it's capability is halfway between reality and what we see in the movies, I don't think it would be as terrible as some people ITT would imply. A relatively quick lightly armored vehicle has its uses. And while it might not have been designed for terror in the SW universe it absolutely would be a horrific thing for thirdies to face. On the other hand, it's easily taken out by anti-materiel rifles, drones, RPGs... And since it's bipedal it has to be very careful exactly where it steps which limits its operational usefulness.
>>65085878And they use this tech on their scout walkers?
>>65085928Would a BMP-2 survive 2 logs being slammed into it like that?
>>65087115Depends on the type of log I guess. I have no doubt that Star Wars nerds have explained this away in some comic or whatever as "Nah, Ewok trees are really hard bro" or some shit
>>65087137Just say you don't know anything about lumber.
>>65087384I know nothing about lumber and I know even less about fictional space lumber
>>65085878FTL clearly does not mean "Faster Than Log"
>>65087137>Ewok trees are really hard bro" o>yeah, but we'll just cut down two foot thick trees in a pitched battle we are losing and suspend them in just the right spot to strike both sides at the same time, because!Fucking nerds.
>>65087484Nice.
>>65084943If it can be squished by logs (modern bucket bottom tanks cannot) I'm just going to label its armor as needing to be light, and can block energy weapons. It's vulnerable to 5.56 at the ports. They're fucking windows.
>>65087503The space midgets figured it out because they evolved there or something. I agree, fuck those nerds. And fuck Star Wars whilst I'm at it. It's just a bit shit
>>65084953It turns out that real light armored vehicles get rekt by swinging logs too.
>>65087602>HAMMMMMMOND!!!!!
>>65087521Modern tank couldn't survive those logs either. People have done the math, the size of the logs is is enough to crush them. The implausible part is actually how the ewoks even managed to lift the logs to create the trap in the first place.
>>65087137You got me wondering, and so I stumbled upon this old relic. Id completely forgotten that star wars vs star trek used to be a thing people argued at length over, that was so long ago and I cant conceive of anybody giving a fuck about either now. Seems so quaint; its not really a feeling of nostalgia, more like walking through an untended graveyard.https://www.st-v-sw.net/STSWATST.html
>>65084943back in 1983 i remember visiting an office of some kind with my father, some older man in a business suit was sitting behind a desk with a toy AT-ST on the corner. i kept eyeballing it hoping the dude would let me have it haha no
