Is this the most overrated handgun ever?
>>
thats not colt 1911, deagle or beretta 92

I'll be honest, it's pretty mediocre now BUT it was pretty much the only game in town until the 70's

take it back, it is this actually

I hear people swear this is better than the cz75, but shooting it last week I was very disappointed.
>>
>>65088312
Is it? Maybe in commonwealth countries who used it, but in the US its never discussed outside of that one cowboy videogame that had it.
>>
>>65088327
The CZ 75 isn't directly related but they're similar enough I would consider it an upgrade to the BHP
I have tiny hands and the BHP is still hard to get your hands on for two-handed shooting if you don't want to engage the slide release all the time
>>
>>65088330
I know canuks really like them, I think in the US the sw 5906 is the overrated gun
>>
That would be the Glock

>I should base my decisions on one single experience
I don't understand this behavior.
>>
>>65088354
nta, but for most people personal experience carries more weight than conjecture and unsubstantiated opinion when it comes to drawing conclusions.
>>
>>65088354
What choice do you really have, realistically? My experience of the BHP is also primarily informed of the one I personally own.

Nah, nothing can be trusted unless it's an n=over 9000 peer reviewed quadruple blind study. I don't even know if I'm typing this or if I'm a brain in a vat, was there an article in nature that conclusively proved I'm real? Checkmate atheists

No, that would be the Colt Single-Action Army. It's overrated due to this specific chain of events:
>US Gov surpluses tons of old Colts for pennies
>Movie studios buy them for cheap props
>Picrel infected the brains of boomers when they were young impressionable children.

Colt sold far more derringers & vest-pocket pistols than they did big revolvers.
>>
>>65088312
It was the first doublestack 9mm pistol to see widespread use starting in the 1930s and was pretty much the main one until Wonder 9s started appearing in the 1970s. SAO with a frame mounted safety is still a pretty respectable pistol design today. So yeah there was better choices starting in the 70s and especially now but it was king for a good 40 years in a world of double action revolvers and single stacks. In that same period of time we went from bolt actions to autoloading rifles to battle rifles to intermediate caliber assault rifles

Why can't billion dollar multinational century+ old company into engraving?
Not only is it not centered vertically in accordance with the slide catch, it's skewed as well.
>>
>>65088372
At least shoot 3 or 4 different units. I also think the cz75 is an incredible gun, but I've shot plenty of commercial and surplus ones that felt worse than a Hi Point.
>>
>>65088312
It was a Wonder 9 like 40 years before the Wonder 9 era. The fact you are still talking about it shows how good it was.
>>
>>65088721
Because the text seems to be parralel with the base of the magwell.

I have one and I love it, I think the CZ 75 is better, but the BHP has its own unique charm. Its very accurate and spans multiple eras.

Now with 2011s and double stack 1911s, why get a cuck hi power?
>>
>>65088312
Love me Hi Power. Simple as.

I mean it is outdated. Not sure who would still say it is a modern great besides boomers. Still a neat handgun
>>
>>65088312
1911..Hands down. Got a Springfield, had to send it back for servicing before I could even fire it. It wouldn't go in battery sometimes, other times it would cut into the brass. Mag release button was so stiff I couldn't press it with one hand. 1911 fanboys were telling me I was imagining problems. Springfield had to tune the extractor and mag release, change the barrel. Also see people saying there's a break-in period for the first 250-500 rounds so add another $230 to the price of the gun just to get it to work right.
Most 1911 people also talk shit about Glocks, but my Glock worked perfectly right out of the box
>>

> Springfield
> QC issues
Name a better dynamic duo. Honestly springfield 1911s are worse than kimber ones

Sure I guess but the Hungarian one has this cool thing on it so its cool
>>
>>65088312
No, it was a pretty good handgun for its time, and it's thanks to this gun's popularity that we have so many good double-stack options nowadays.
>>
>>65089224
1911 is a gun for ppl who like to tinker with guns. If you're sending your 1911 back to the factory for things like this, it was never the gun for you.

gun still very overrated though. Literally ergonomic of a brick and heavy even compared to other metal pistols.

1911s vary so much between years and makers in terms of reliability it's hard to generalize. A good one is fucking wonderful, one with a shit extractor is a headache.

Other than the mag safely, what's outdated about it? Almost every other handgun still uses it's action copied 1:1.
>>
>>65091588
Sadly a mag safety is actually a very relevant feature on the modern market, once again the BHP was ahead of its time.
>>
>>65088312
Glok is the most overrated
>>
>>65089273
Oh damn, that's sexy.
>>
>>65089248
Boomers spent most of their youth overlooking the BHP and buying S&W 2nd and 3rd gen slop instead. They only started paying attention late 90's when established 1911 makers started modding hi-powers
>>
It's overrated mainly by Europeans and other countries that use it because 9mm handguns have drastically advanced litterally right after it's adoption. Guns like the 1911 are not overrated because the single action trigger and the fact that not many other guns can do the 45 acp/10mm well
>>
>>65090882
Yes understood what you're saying. 3rd gen Smiths are of their time, an update of the vintage 39/59 series (during exact timeframe Glock was taking over the handgun market). 1911 fans and people that like all metal semiautos 'revere' them, and if ? you don't mind a large heavy pistol they indeed can be carried it's all down to what you're proficient with and can tolerate. For me they're great and nice shooting range guns, or home defense / vehicle pistols.

Not even close to the most overrated gun. That would be the mp7.

MP7 is a submachine gun, or PDW as the NATO contract it was designed for prescribed.

Mp7 is a handgun. Hi power is a stocked pistol. Pic is irrelevant. Whats it like always being wrong?
>>
>>65088312
Why didn't FN just remove the magazine disconnect for non-French contract guns?
>>
>>65088490
Cowboys were the ones that would want more however. They liked cutting edge tech, before barbed wire fully killed off that lifestyle you had cowboys with Krag Jorgs and 1911s.
>>
>>65094170
Agreed. Not the best but a hell of a lot better duty/combat handgun than most in its era. If its 1943 and I needed to pick a semi automatic pistol for serious fighing, It would be my top choice.
>>
>>65094975
It was the most advanced semiautomatic pistol of the 1940s.
