A gun with a drum like a revolver. But at the same time with a pistol clip in the grip. The revolver part fires the cartridge from the current top slot of the drum. After you shoot and the drum rotates, the gun ejects the spent cartridge. When the empty slot reaches the bottom position, the autoloader inserts the bullet from the clip in the grip into the drum. This way we could have the reliability of the revolver, with the ammo capacity of a pistol.
>>65092157No it's too many working parts for the same thing that a handgun with a magazine already achieves. Secondly, anyone using a handgun isn't shooting it that often that it requires that much capacity.Shit gets heavy even an extended magazine.
>>65092157Could that be done? Yes. Would it be a good idea? No. Much too complicated. It wouldn't be more reliable, it would be less reliable since you now have both the timing issues of a revolver and the feeding issues of a semi.
>>65092157It’s been done before, there’s antiques you can look at that do this.
>>65092157Sounds like a Dardick but worse.
>>65092157Sounds kind of like a Dardick. Made in the 50sForgotten Weapons did a video on it toohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psrZXa2WeQE
It's been done
>>65092351What is it with Scandinavians and weird firearms designs. They don't have all that many, but they are often really odd. There's this thing, the 'Bang' gas trap system, that bizarre retro-futuristic Swedish 6 barrel pistol that looks like a pepperbox but isn't....
>>65092157If you're going that far into Rube-Goldberg-esque insanity then why not have the revolver cylinders feed into the base of the magazine that then feeds into the semiautomatic chamber?
>>65092388The Schouboe looks like an oppressor's gun, something that would be equally at home being wielded by Darth Vader or some commie jackboot. The 6-barrel pistol looks like it would be equally at home in a pulp-era space romp or a Jules Verne adventure.
>>65092565>far into Rube-Goldberg-esque insanityHave I got the gun for you anon
>>65092565You mean a drum mag?
>>65092246Yeah thought of this too.>>65092351and fucking lol of course those madlads tried it.>>65092565>then why not have the revolver cylinders feed into the base of the magazine that then feeds into the semiautomatic chamberLike OP said because the idea is the reliability (and fwiw also the extra effective barrel length) of a revolver, doing it the other direction doesn't work, and ergonomics would actually be a lot weirder too in terms of how it fits the hand.I could see someone someday trying out some sort of electric loading system, an autoloader that doesn't use gas at all but something more like a manual or mini (2 or 3 chambers) revolver maybe. That could be interesting to play with, though of course would be dependent on electrical power to operate. Maybe it could work if a magazine also had some battery in it, so you "load power" at the same time you load ammo. Though ultimately that probably has no gains in a pistol form factor, might be more interesting in a rifle.
>>65092586>the Philip revolver is basically similar to a Colt or Remington revolver>but with three cylinders rather than one>the front cylinder is supposed to fire first>followed by the cylinder behind it>and so on>the cylinders can each be chambered for different calibers>although the largest caliber would have to be in the front cylinder>since the smaller bullets need to be able to pass through the first two cylindersNow that's just fun.

>>65092641>is basically similar to a Colt or Remington revolverThe hell it is. It clearly uses a zig-zag mechanism rather than a ratchet and hand like Colt, etc.
you could make it but whether or not it outperformed more contemporary designs is another question (it will not and can not)
>>65092157what if the rounds come up through the magazine, into the barrel, then back into the magazine again before being fired then it would be both an automatic and a revolver side-by-side? it could go twice and there could be a mouse that pushes a candle with a switch
