Oh shotgun and beretta chads of /k/, tell me, should I get an a300 or 1301?
>>
Are you going to put 10,000 rounds of full power buckshot and slugs through it? Get the 1301. If not, get the A300. The only real difference is durability, the felt recoil through the different gas systems is negligible.
>>
>>65098072
1301, in a color that makes you feel the most pretty
>>
>>65098107
Which color is the most optimal for being a pretty little princess?
>>
>>65098072
Neither. Get a 486EL.
>>
>>65098088
Recoil system in the A300 means the stock cannot be changed. 1301 is contained within the receiver so you can put many different stocks on it.

Far greater aftermarket for 1301 so it's the customizable option.

1301 supposedly has a self cleaning gas system like the M4, the A300 has tighter cleaning schedule. A300 is meant as a "Patrol" gun for cops and security, not really as a tactical/combat shotgun for doming communists through doors.

I love my 1301, but handling a A300 Patrol, shit's nearly the same for abit less.

A lot of the 1301 stocks are now available for the A300.

Price wise, check around. I got a used 1301 for 1299 a few months ago from bass bro. Beretta supposedly sold a lot of display pieces to Bass Pro. There were like half a dozen 1301 mod 2 in all sorts of different configurations all for $1299.
>>
>>65098462
Make sure you don't get one of the first batches, they all had faulty cerakote. My LGS said they had to send back a few dozen and it took 6 months to get replacements.
>>
Which version of the model 1887 should I grab?

Most people won't need a 1301. A300 is perfectly fine. I bought a 1301 because I personally really wanted one for a long time and got it as a gift for myself.
>>
I'll just ask here: I'd like to purchase a shotgun in the upcoming month. I don't need anything extensive. I'm looking at the Mossberg 500 and Remington 870 models. They seem to be classics and commonly praised. Not sure what to look for in terms of pricing and materials. From what I undertand, synthetic materials tend to be better for durability and facing the elements. Is there much I should keep in mind?
>>
>>65098072
A300 is fine I'm just a slut for specifics and I've wanted a 1301 so I'm saving for a 1301
>>
>>65098711
Just buy a Mossberg 500 or 590 if you think you're going to modify it in the future. Don't buy a new Remington 870, they're shit like all nu-Remington guns.

>>65098711
870s have been shit since 2007.extremely rustprone and might have extraction issues. this is fixable but its putting more money into it.
you can buy a new mossberg and its fine.
prior to 2007 it was 50/50 buy which ever is cheaper or has ergonomics you like.
if you can find a used 870 at an acceptable price in acceptable condition go for it, if you cant. buy mossberg or if you find a good condition used mossberg buy that.

if you are broke as shit blue line if you want an 870 knockoff and mav 88 if you want a cheaper 500

Niggas sleep on the OG 1200/1300s but they are slick guns, fastest pump shotgun of all the major brands.
>>
>>65098072
Are you knocking over a Kroger or a Wendy’s? Krogers appreciates taste
>>
I fucking love shotguns. Niggers, my life changed when I took a SymTac class. Push/Pull really works. I used to hate shotguns and now I shoot slugs for funsies.

I just bought a 1301, but I'm probably going to tell a relative to buy A300 UP for home defense (and to take to an upcoming course).

Federal Flite Control Fucks. It runs great in the 1301 and A300.

front hand pushes pump forwards while rear hand pulls stock into shoulder.

alternative less effective ways are loose/neutral grip. or pulling back on the forend when you shoot cause pulling back brings the gun into the shoulder and you thick oh i can use recoil to pump it faster.

What years are the ones to look for?
>>
>>65098831
>>65098842
Yep. It's kinda like drawing a bow or trying to pull the shotgun apart. Here's Rob Haught demonstrating it with an exercise band.

ProTip: you push forward harder than you might imagine. You fucking own that thing. And it works! In SymTac classes you'll shoot the entire weekend without even a hint of a bruise on your shoulder. It really works.
>>
shotgun recoil feels good
never really knew how many people into guns were complete pansies until I started shooting a shottie
everyone is all "muh recoil!" "it kicks so hard!"
to me it just feels like a gun should feel, rifles in intermediate cartridges just don't have the same kick
>>
>>65098873
Shotguns are low pressure so are just a gentle tap
>>
>>65098072
A300's internals are slightly different in ways you might disfavor for reliability over the life of the gun (Turk). 1301 if the budget can be stretched.
>>
>>65098852
Older ones had much nicer wood (walnut) vs. the later models using lighter birch and pine for the stocks. The pre-1978 (aka 1200) have a smooth top receiver, the post-78 (aka 1300) have a milled receiver top. No functional difference, just the easiest way to identify them. The 1200s have marginally more work to take them apart and clean them (one extra screw, no retaining screw for ejector spring so it goes WEEEEEEEE across the room if you're not careful).

They're all solid, it's more about aesthetics. My 1200 has beautiful wood, mottled and looks like tiger stripes in different light. My dad's 1300 has a beige-brown stock and looks a bit more plain. All of them were made in America in New Haven, older ones might have a bit more crumbly recoil pad just due to the rubber being several decades old. Probably late 70's would be your best bet. They're quite common and not very expensive either, Hickock45 does a few nice videos on them.

red dot on a shotgun?
yes?
no?

if yes what would you put on it?
>>
>>65098962
Yes if it's a semi auto with an 18.5" barrel, no if it's anything shorter or a pump gun.

Np. They are super light and pointable, for an 18.5" barrel they feel so nimble compared to the 870 and 590. Happy hunting.
