Would a 9mm para case with homemade blackpowder have enough energy to cycle a simple blowback pistol, like move the slide back, compress firing pin spring etc? I'm planning on building one but first I would like to know if the cartridge makes sense or needs to be bigger. I'm asking as I have zero experience with real guns.

Even if it did too dirty to cycle, get one of those 12 gauge double barrel bp pistols
yeah it works great just be sure to fill the brass with as much bp as possible.

>>65098103I think Hickock45 has a video where he runs a Glock on black powder, and it worked for a magazine or so before the the gun siezed up. You don't want to use a simple blowback action for this, the action opens too soon and it will foul even faster.
