Is carrying a gun in the woods in case of bears or other animal attacks a good idea? Do any of you guys do this? Any recommendations on the type of gun?
>>65099357Anon, you are permitted 1 silly question per useless thread, not 3 in one post. But, yes, yes and yes.
>>65099361You guys go outside? Also I feel like they all stick to the general theme. Mainly I want to know if such a thing is retarded and if not what gun is a good fit for that role. That's really only one silly question and then asking for a gun recommendation.
>>65099357Recommendations would depend on what animal you might need to protect yourself from. Not all animals exist in every wood. Bigger animals require bigger guns.
>>65099357No, it's really a bad idea.I don't bear arms, anon.Just don't take guns to woods please, btw don't use plastic wrapping with your sandwiches, it's really hard to eat them this way. Bring raspberry jam.
>>65099357its cringe af. bears are bro tier
You should definitely carry something to defend yourself from bears if that's a concern, but bear spray will probably be just fine.
>>65099357Yes. I carry a little 18 inch coachgun when I go innawoods. Not much can survive 00 buckshot followed up by a 12guage slug at point blank range. That being said, if bears are a serious worry you're better off carrying bear spray. Unless you're very lucky and completely obliterate its brain, a pissed off dying brown grizzly can still charge 30 feet and maul you in the 2-3 minutes it takes for its body to give out from a fatal shot
>>65099357Wild animals kill so incredibly few people that it's not worth the weight and space.
>>65099357Its a very stupid idea, depending on your jurisdiction bears can be considered protected animals and shooting one can get you in major legal trouble. So don't shoot any bears unless you want to fuck your life over with legal trouble.
>>65099357>Is carrying a gun in the woods in case of bears or other animal attacks a good idea?Depends on what woods you're talking about. Most of the time the risk of predators is nil, but depending on where you go that might change.>Do any of you guys do this? Depends on where I'm going.>Any recommendations on the type of gun?Once again, it depends on where you are going and what you are doing. Fishing in some remote area of Alaska? Bears are a legit concern. Fucking around with my buddy's property in West Texas? There's no bears, but there are rattlesnakes.>>65099364>Are all outsides the sameNo anon, they're not.

I don't carry innawoods because of wildlife, I carry innawoods because of other people.
99% of firearm failures with a bear are due to not getting a chance to shoot it in the first place, so dont let people bullshit you into thinking bear spray is better, you just need to train better with a gunand as for the effecfiveness of bear spray, the studies that get parroted around consider successful uses of it to also be any time a bear is sprayed when it shows no signs of aggression, ie. curiousity or rummaging through your food, not just attacks
>>65099959This. I'm thinking of hunting with an AR-10 instead of my bolt action in case I encounter Mexicans.
>>65099808this blue state anon who lives in a city and has never seen a wild animal bigger than a coyote is right. If a bear attacks you, you should just let it eat you and/or your loved ones, or else you might get in trouble.
>>65099808You can get around this by claiming self defense.Sprinkling some crack on the bear will also help.
>>65099357You should always carry innawoods. I personally live in an area of PA where bears are rare, but I always carry a .357 on me when I'm out hiking or hunting because humanoid meth freaks are not. By the way Anon, if you find any weird two liter bottles out innawoods, don't touch them.
>>65100368>By the way Anon, if you find any weird two liter bottles out innawoods, don't touch them....why, what are they?
>>65100368>>65100531shake and bake meth bottle I presume?
>>65099357Op... Why aren't you ALWAYS carrying? Doofus.
>>65100531>>65100571Yep.New thread question:What is your go to caliber for tweaker/junkie/fiend defense?
>>65100686i heard that they set up maiming traps around their drug "compounds" in the woodsif you're really unlucky and stumble across one while they're working on their product they might even try killing you
>>65099357Are you an actual human being?>Is carrying a gun in the woods in case of bears or other animal attacks a good idea? No, as the wise Wotan said in his proverbs, "let a man always leave his weapons of war at home, you definitely know you won't need that"
>>65099357Yes and yes. See picrel for both the reason to carry and the gun to carry.
>Go innawoods>Distract lazy ass mama bear with honey and EBT cards>Acquire bear cub>Feed cub a high protein diet >Go on walks them them daily>Find an ancient gray furred sensei bear to teach them bearfu>Commission someone to make your bear a kevlar vest complete with ceramic plates and a helmet >Sneak out into the woods with your bear apprentice>Ambush armed hikers and steal their cool guns>Keep the cool guns you like, sell the ones you don't to pay for more meat for bearGive me a single reason why this wouldn't workPro tip: you can't
>>65101173Thus why you should keep that muthafuckin thang on you Anon
>>65101393Looks like that Finnish desert the name of which I forget.
>>65101613I didn't know Finland had any deserts.
>>65101596Anon if your not drilling regularly for assault bears then you deserve to get mugged…This is my once a bear thread reminder that regular practice with your bear gun is way more important than choosing the right caliber of bear gun…
