Additionally they are probably more expensive to manufacture than an AR-15 these days because they require more skilled manual labour to manufacture and assemble. AR-15 design is much more suitable for modern manufacturing than an AK.

I got the upper at a police surplus auction advertised as a 16" but was pleasantly surprised to find the unicorn barrel under the handguard. It was $600 shipped and came with a busted surefire foregrip light. I wish I had gotten more larue stuff before he went crazy trying to pay for his divorce. The $10/inch quad rail was such an amazing deal looking back
>>65104640Specialized Armament makes replacement barrels for the 6940s in the factory Colt lengths with the option of heavy profiles but they're like $500. Barrel nut wrenches are available too. SA also sells the special barrel extension if you wanted to have a gunsmith make you a custom barrel. You could also re use the barrel nut from the factory barrel if you don't care about swapping them back and forth.Eventually I will get around to designing handguard extensions for them. Should be pretty doable by integrating it into a newly designed lower handguard. Then you could use mid length gas without it looking goofy
