should I get an air rifle or a .22lr rifle for 50 meter target shooting at an outdoor range? I already have a centerfire I use for high power if I want to shoot matches and a .22 plinker so this would just be for shooting at paper targets at 50 meters for fun
what is the .22 plinker and could you build it into a target gun?Get both. 4,5 mm airgun for max economy and indoors shooting.
.22LR will just be more fun.
Do you have a backyard or is this a thing you only shoot at the range? Cause you have to be at the range an airrifles stupid.

>>65102377>a henryAllright. Any gunshops near you have a used Anschütz 54 or something?
>>65102390>do any gunshops have a used $4,000 gun
is this one of those threads where OP wont accept any answer?
>>65102452literally the only answer that was suggested so far is >buy a $4,000 rifle
>>65102424OP asked for a target gun and Anschutzes can can be under 500 used. If OP doesnt care about precision he can buy a cheap made in brazil CBS or whatever and plink with that too.

>>6510232350m is pretty far for a small bore airgun. You can hit things at that range but not with great precision. Airgun silhouette shooting is 20 to 45 yards and it's hit/miss.
>>65102751I thought olympic 3 position shoots at 50 meters?
>>65102758CMP 3PAR is 10m. Olympic might be 20m, not sure.

>>65102773Follow the first link to the page about the sport. It says 22LR.
>>65102390i have a savage mk2 tr that i really love to plink with. it's actually very accurate too. on bipods and bags i keep everything in a nickel sized group with decent ammo. easily quarter sized groups with cheap ass golden bullets.
If this is going to be used at a real gun range id just get a .22, air rifles are neat but as far as fun is concerned a .22 is just better. Some good choices would be the 10/22 target with the bull barrel, and really any of the savage or CZ .22s for real accuracy. If you have a slightly larger budget (still sub 1k tho) and want something that’s actually a laser beam, get the ruger precision rimfire. My dad has one of those and that thing is a dream to shoot really
>>65102323Just get a cheap .22 or .177 break barrel and shoot whiskey bottles with it.
