Betting is illegal in America?
I don't see the issue. Congresspersons do inside trading all the time. The grunt actually put his life on the line to make it happen. He'll have to carry the weight of discombobulated Cubans, too

>>65102832No, that's a strategic advantage.

>>65102846This. Bets on one self are only unethical if you take a larger payout to purposely perform worse.Betting on yourself to win is investing in your self worth.
>>65102879Wasn't SBF charged with it? I think the Nikola guy (electric semis) was too, or some counts of fraud.Insider trading is legal in the Trump admin. Hell, even if you get caught, all you have to do is donate a couple million dollars in ill gotten gains into the Trump political fund, and he'll pardon you. >>65102914NTA, but he's right. If you're only betting on yourself/team to win, what's the problem?
>>65103074Because it ruins your objectivity for the game. In the case of Pete, while he never did it as a player, as a manager, you can make decisions that have larger impacts down the road. For example, say you are the manager for the Dodgers going to play the bum ass White Sox. You bet the under, because you have one of the strongest bullpens and the Sox couldn't hit water if they fell out a fucking canoe. But say, it's the bottom of the 9th, and they have a runner in scoring position. They have the top of the order coming through, and you're down to your last reliever. You have ace, but it was supposed to be his day off after pitching a masterpiece the day before. If you're completely objective, you take the possible L and move on. But let's say you put your ace in, and he gets the outs you need, but it turns out he strains his arm and is going to be out a month. If you didn't make that bet, you may have a loss but you keep your ace ready for future games. Now, you're going into a month of rehab for your ace, and now you have to adjust your entire pitching rotation, on top of figuring out how to adjust your betting strategy.
