>watching video of some boomer reviewing a .22 S&W AR pistol>"okay so now i'm gonna put on the suppressor i just bought and we'll put some subsonic rounds through it">turn off videoi understand that it's kinda cool if you don't have to always wear ear protection while plinking stuff, but a lot of the fun involved in going out to my uncle's plot of land in bumfuck nowhere is hearing the "BLAM, ker-chunk, BLAM" when i shoot the old ithaca. it's even better if my father lets me shoot a mag from his Glock 20, you can feel the sonic boom rattle your bones with every shot even if you have uncomfortable earmuffs on.
>>65103898>the fun of guns is being retarded with themI dont agree but I can appreciate. Someone doing donuts in a field is just as much a car enjoyer as a formula 1 racer is.
>>65103898Different guns for different jobs. A 22 is perfect for when you want to plink quietly. Big booms are fun too, but a .22 is not going to be satisfying if that's what you want. If you like big booms forget the .22 and instead get yourself some huge handcannon revolver, a single-shot 10ga, .458 Win Mag, or some massive old muzzleloader.
>>65103898>liking big booms>not interested in things that reduce the boomsNo, no this does not make you a nogunz at heart. I have spent a good deal of time and money finding ways to make bigger and bigger booms come out of handguns, and it's either a 420 gr +p .45-70 load or a 700 gr .500 magnum load that reaches the "ok that's enough" threshold. Liking guns because they make loud noises is perfectly rational.
>>65103898Get a loudener
>>65103898>but a lot of the fun involved in going out to my uncle's plot of land in bumfuck nowhere is hearing the "BLAM, ker-chunk, BLAM">22 S&W AR pistolNo guns fag retard.
>>65103898>uncomfortable earmuffs onBit of a sissy, right here. Look, everyone can have and is allowed thier own interests. You can be talking to someone about how fun shooting is, bring up suppressors and stop the convo. Seen it. Not everyone has to like the same things on the menu.
>>65103898>"okay so now i'm gonna put on the suppressor i just bought and we'll put some subsonic rounds through it">hearing the "BLAM, ker-chunk, BLAM"The gun still makes noise even with all of that. You get to hear a boom that's less than 120 decibels, but there is still a boom (audio equipment can't always record it well, but the person shooting it can hear it). Also, you get to hear the action cycling; you get to hear the thud when the projectile hits the target.
>>65104750When shooting you mostly hear the action anyway (if semi)FALs and AKs sound really good because of the meaty action, ARs sound stupid because of the buffer spring, the Vz. 58 sounds like hitting something with a frying pan
>>65104757Exactly my point. If OP needs noise then he'll hear noise even with a suppressor and subsonic ammo.
>>65103898You're a bit retarded. It's fine as long as you don't make it everyone else's problem.Go have fun stimming yourself with loud noises on your family land and just remember it's your own fault when you can't hear things as you get older. All "fun" is arbitrary personal preference in the end as as long as you're doing it with your eyes open do what works for you.>>65103980It's not rational at all. It's visceral like any other sensory preference.
>>65103898Shoot suppressed one (1) time and you will understand why so many people never go back to shooting loud
>>65105972I shoot loud 99% of the time though because I own historical guns that I'm NOT putting suppressors on
I’m sure everyone can agree there is appeal to shooting loud and high caliber guns and making noise, but I think when you have your own home range and can get as much time as you desire on it that fades very fast. As much fun as I have shooting larger calibers, I will always say that .22s are my favorite caliber to shoot and just have a good time. Having a home range means with a suppressed .22 I could go out in the middle of the night and plink for as long as I want without having to worry about ammo costs or worsening my already had hearing. If I didn’t have access to one and had to go to public ranges I could easily see myself not getting as into suppressed .22s as I have. What’s the point of a real quiet setup when you have to wear hearing pro at the range no matter what and other people are shooting large calibers fairly close to you
I have tinnitus from being in the military and, even more so, from working in the industrial sector. It isn’t fun.
>>65103898>love rally>hate F1Does this mean I hate motorsport?
>>65104757One of the most satisfying gun sounds is the "choonk" of the ejectors kicking the empty cases out of a double gun when you break the action open.I also like the sound the inertia Benelli shotguns make when you hit the bolt release. That's a nice meaty mechanical sound.
>>65106314Pump actions also sound great
