>>65106444checked, the 60s when AFV designers thought adjustable hydraulic suspension was going to be the rage for MBTssame with variable geometry wings for combat jets
>>65106523I wish I still had the curb your enthusiasm edit of that.
A squad of these things dug in on a reverse slope would be a fucking nightmare against anything but a heavy armor unit if you didn't have air or artillery support. Nothing says 'welcome to the DPRK' quite like 600 30mm grenades falling on you like rain from over a mile away.
>>65108013The twin 30mm AGLs are mechanically linked to the main gun so in normal operation the gunner can fire them using the sights for the main gun. However there is a 'gear' for lack of a better way to describe it in that mechanical linkage that allows you to raise them to a 45+degree angle, this effectively turns the 30mm AGLs into automatic light mortars. The belts have 30 rounds each so each tank can do the equitant of 60 light mortar rounds from a maximum of 2 miles. 5x60=300.I was wrong when i said '600 30mm grenades falling on you like rain from over a mile away' it is is 300 from two miles.
>>65108231The person who told them to take the minigun off was a grot.
>>65106421been thinking of an APC/IFV designed for modern trench warfare, similar to conditions seen in Ukraine. Rather than acting as a traditional tank, it focuses on engaging troops in cover such as trenches, fortified positions, and urban strongpoints. Its main weapon is a large-bore indirect-fire gun mounted in a forward-positioned turret. This gun delivers high-explosive and airburst rounds onto targets outside direct line of sight, guided by a drone operated by the vehicle’s radio operator, who tags enemy positions for accurate fire. It can also fire a shotgun-style shell, similar in concept to fragmentation rounds used by Japanese battleship Yamato, dispersing projectiles for use against drones or exposed infantry. For close defense, the vehicle mounts one or two 4-gauge shotgun turrets, primarily used as automated anti-drone systems against FPV threats, though they might come at the cost of flying wildlife. The turret is placed far forward with about 160° traverse, featuring heavily sloped frontal armor and a V-shaped lower plate for deflection and blast resistance. Internally, the layout places the turret in front, engine behind it, and crew compartments in the rear. The vehicle is longer than a typical APC but not heavier in its lightweight configuration. Its armor consists of an inner aluminum hull and outer steel plating, with Kevlar containers filled with non-Newtonian fluid between them. This modular system improves resistance to shrapnel and small arms, and can be adjusted for weight or protection depending on mission needs.Overall, the vehicle emphasizes survivability against artillery fragments, drones, and heavy small arms, operating alongside infantry as a protected fire support and transport platform.

Weird ask but does anyone have pictures of the m60a3s the USAF pushed into service with a EOD unit in Iraq?

>>65112274>Marines using Sherman as flatbed
>>65112314Shermans had a lot of utility. Some were used in construction post war.

>>65115374this wouldnt have happened if they'd adopted the FN Orderly Dismount
>>65116458So if this tank is actually an ATGM launcher does that mean its technically a trap for dressing up as a tank?
>>65114718Nigga every tank can be used for everything
>>65117096I was legit thinking of getting one just for my local commute to my shops. Roads really are getting that bad.
>>65116722It's a reverse trap, the gun is prosthetic.
>>65117816So its a tomboy with a strap-on?
>>65117858Yes.

>>65116292The Panzer 39, also known as the ‘LTL-H’ or ‘LTH’ (which was the Czechoslovakian export designation), was a Swiss light tank that served in the Swiss Army from 1939 to 1960
>>65120175>It's a Panzer 38tAh now I see it. I wonder just how many variations of that design are out there that haven't been well documented?
>>65120143The UK is the Soviet Union of Europe.
>>65118391>>65120143I'm guessing it's from some training material for tankers to illustrate that tanks can look similar in combat and that they should take great care in studying the minute differences between tank models so they can identify friend or foe.
^^nice
>>65123052>>65123065I feel these need edits for their guns to be even longer!
i find sherman posting very funny because its a way for liberal people to pretend they're edgy anyway here's the fat tank
>>65124147How so? Sherman appreciation is just someone coming to the conclusion that the history channel was full of wehraboo shit and it was actually a true contender for the best tank of WW2?Anyway have something from New Zealand.

>>65132556I often feel a lot of their designs get judged more harshly than they should mainly based on a lot of their interwar designs being what people compare their tanks to. Some of what they were designing wouldn't have been the greatest by any means but at least okay for what they were and when they came out.
I will maintain that a 47mm HV gun protected by 30mm of armor on a tank that can do close to 25mph while weighing 16 tons is perfectly fine for 1941 and acceptable going into 42. Just too bad that it was still being used into 45.
>>65132618also the Imperial Japan military 1930s had different design, doctrinal goals and roles for their armored vehicles than Europe/U.S.
The lack of harbors and wharves on islands, the limited derrick lifting capacity of transport ships, and the loading capacity of barges were all factors that restricted the weight of Japanese tanks. While beaching transport ships solved these problems, their introduction was delayed until 1944.

>>65140126Nigga that's Albert fucking Speer

What did these guys use to build this stug?
>>65141106the running gear looks like an FV432, with a modified upper hull.
>>65132618Eh, they were still behind the French even for the time, but one can't argue that splitting their limited metal into a bunch of tankettes was the right call against China. IJA still screwed the pooch using their modernization allowance to built the OI instead of something practical.
>>65141571I still can't get over the silly hat.>>65141747The OI project was just insanity and you have to wonder if someone from the IJN was deliberately sabotaging the IJA encouraging them that was a good idea?
