I am once again asking some importer to just make an AKS-74 (not the U) in 5.56. It is all I want, thanks. I am confused why Kike-var put out that video like a year or two ago that was them just saying 'dood, we can't get stamped AKs anymore, just buy our overpriced, overgassed SAM-5's, m'kay?!?'. Weird saying that to customers. Just make it happen you fucks.
>Get it in 5.45
No. While 5.45 is fucking awesome, it is also no longer 20 years ago when the shit was the same price as 22lr.
>>
>>65108226
>just make it happen
The only countries that even made rifles with sidefolder trunnions for AKS-74s were the Soviet Union (and its successors) and Bulgaria. Your only real option out of the USSR countries is Azerbaijan, and you can see the quality of their AK-103 kits yourself to see if it'd be worth it (it's not).
Any other manufacturer of them would have a massive buy-in for the production equipment for the trunnions and all that they would entail.
I do greatly wish Romarm would start offering WASR-3s again (and that Century would pick them up for import), but I know they're winding down AK tooling for ARX160s instead so they're not really interested in investing more in the AK market.
>confused why Kike-var put out that video
K-var wants to keep existing, they have to make some amount of sales. Telling consumers the truth on product availability to try and win back some of them is an obvious first move.
>>
speaking of 5.45 should i sell my saiga? only have like half a can of 7n6 left. havent shot it in a year
dimpled, clamp on handguard retainer, bolt on trigger guard, previous owner only swapped the front sight for a bulgarian, wood ak74 furniture set from rusweapons before they got btfo, and a couple plums
should i fully convert it or leave that for the next owner

Ok /akg/, recommend me the absolute king of AKs in terms of reliability and durability. 7.62 preferred, but other calibers will be considered, as long as reliability and durability are the top considerations.

PLO type 2 reweld
>>
Is it unwise to paint a suppressor? I've heard that its easy to smell the burning spray paint for quite a distance.
>>
>>65108702
>PLO type 2 reweld
why? is it because you can control the construction with idea of maximizing durability?
>>
>>65108745
youre never going to ambush actual combatants so it doesnt matter
>>
>>65108745
The paint will inevitably cook off of it unless you're shooting once or twice every 3-5 minutes and letting it cool between shots.
If your goal is to prevent the inhaling of paint, don't paint your suppressor. Or use high-temp paint, ymmv.
>>
>>65108752
i think its because type 2s had the most overbuilt receivers, barrel, gas block etc. and those were the only ones that were imported iirc
>>
>>65108745
Unwise ? No. Pointless ? Yes. You will spent more time painting than the time it will take for the paint to start flaking off due to heat.

Maybe, I had an sgl and slr series aks and kept the slr, I should have kept both but I was young and stupid. As far as superior i believe the slr was because they kept the standard size bolt, the sgl russian rifles had the slim necked down bolt, which made them incompatible with standard akm rifles. Some people claimed they were weaker i don't know, never seen one fail, mine never did. Either way never sell your guns people, especially if it was an sgl plum furniture ak74. Fuck me here's my current slr configuration, I thought I was gonna like it but might switch back to the standard 100 series polymer handguards

Anyone seen these kind of mags before? Been trying to find something similar to these but haven't found anything, any clues?
>>
>>65110111
It's not an AK mag, for one. The locking geometry is entirely different and the shape is all wrong outside of the distinct 7.62x39 curve.
Do you even have the gun for it, or did you just buy a random mag? Are there markings on it at all? Did you buy it thinking it was an AK mag?
It most closely resembles a Mini-30 mag, but an old commercial one by a fly-by-night company that probably doesn't exist anymore.

>>
>>65110151
No markings what so ever, and yes I bought it thinking it was for an ak, dumb I know, just got it cause it looked weird and it was piled with the other ak mags, at the store I got them, and kind of thought it was for some niche mag use at. Spent only 19 bucks on them
>>
>>65110191
Yea they're aftermarket Mini-30 mags from the 80s
There's currently an eBay listing for 2 30 round mags that look exactly like those, just longer. They should say "USA Magazines" somewhere on them, the 30s say it on the right side of the mag towards the bottom. I searched "Aftermarket mini 30 mag from the 80s" and started digging.
They were dogshit mags then, they're probably dogshit now. If you know someone in a ban state that doesn't do retroactive bans, hock them off on him, they're definitely pre-ban since they're at least a decade older than the federal ban.
>>
>>65110209
Huh, well an interesting find I supposed even if they are gonna be shit, both of them are not marked with "USA Magazines" but I did found one exact one on fuddbroker https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1105022328 There's going to be a gun show here in 2 weeks so I'll probably go sell them there, Thanks for the info anon I appreciate it

>>65108601
Beryl is annoying since nobody has the upper handguard adapter in stock.
>>65108285
I know, but it is not dificult to build a rifle with a 4.5/5.5mm side folding trunnion vs. a fixed stock trunnion. Plus K-var should start with asking Arsenal to build shit the USDM is asking for.
>>
>>65110256
>not difficult to build a rifle with a side folding trunnion
No, it's not difficult, but it is expensive to get the equipment to make those trunnions. Expensive enough that the payout timetable is long enough that no one who'd order those machines would see the profits, unless you think it'd sell to the degree of replacing ARs on the consumer market.
>K-var should start with asking
Do you think they didn't? The mil contracts pay more, so Arsenal prioritizes them. The US consumer is second chair to military contracts for import firearms, especially from Bulgaria because of how many Middle Eastern countries go to them for AK shit to retain old small arms training while trying to modernize.
You have the relationship backwards, K-var is beholden to Arsenal.

Just buy an IO and never shoot it and it will last forever.

Where can I find better drawings with measurements for different muzzle devices?

Aside from the 2 articles that picture lead to/csme from, not really.
There's not a lot of technical drawings just floating around as is, but as specifically to just the muzzle devices' TDP; I'd say even less so.
>I've actually never seen that pic, but I stopped poking around Russian forums years ago, so maybe it is out there.

>ME Ukraine 14x1 LH flash hider
I'd at least like to keep the prism and sling as a package sale. If you are interested in taking it all, please reach out. I'd sell it all for 600.

I got around to doing the JTS measurements. Sorry it took a bit longer than I said.

>gas port size is a single ~6.6mm hole located approximately 210mm from the breech face
>setting 1 is 2.5m
>setting 2 is 4.6mm
>setting 3 is 6.6mm

My barrel is 11 inches and it will run birdshot on setting 2. I think the newer model uses a different receiver/bolt carrier design so I took some pictures of the M12 receiver length compared to the bolt carrier. I don't think the differences are that major but its possible that one model needs more/less gas than the other due to the differences in carrier travel distance (for example a shorter receiver can get away with less gas because it doesnt have to travel back very far to trip the FCG) These are really rough measurements but I can get more detailed photos/dimensions if you want.

I brought the Jack. I was the only one there with a regular AKM shooting irons, everyone else had riced out gamer guns. I think I’ll bring my SLR105 next time. 10/10 would recommend an AK only match
