How to deal with juniors? I don't expect full on derangement from them, but I've found that when I have a few people under my command, all they learn is the salt and not how to do the job. I've even had to tell guys "Hey, I'm salty but I've been here for a while. >>65112368We increase VA disability benefits when there is a recruiting crisis because the government knows this will entice people to go into the military.Think about it. If an 18 year old sees his friend, Grampa, Dad, ect get VA disability and taken care of he will be enticed to join the military.
>>65112381And where is ANY evidence that this is the case? You still can't see how retarded this sounds?
The entire reason the VA disability system exists is because real jobs in the 1900s still gave workers comp and benefits to their employees meanwhile the US government gave nothing. The VA disability system in practice is worker's compensation.Disability money is not given out freely, you have to have proof and a paper trail of an actual condition or injury that persists after your service. Thus, "disabled" veterans (in theory) only get what is owed to them rightfully.Across the board, disabled vets don't want to get paid for conditions. They would rather not have their conditions. But they got hurt in their service so they deserve compensation at the least. If VA didn't exist, the government would be getting sued millions of dollars for casualties by veterans and their families instead. $3k a month to a handful of servicemen who deserve it actually is a good economical compromise.Money is fake anyway.>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2C852bF6OU>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sj0oX97i1vo>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFI1_L0DKJA

>>65112411Because the government desperately need recruits. However, once it starts to be a race to the bottom they will reduce it. Why would rich people pay more than they need?
>>65112418USARECOM is hitting or exceeding their numbers. There is no "recruiting crisis" as much as you so desperately wish there was. I remember how delighted you were when ONE branch back in 2022 fell short. Now go back to the graph again and show me ANY evidence to back your bullshit claim, Robert. Or would you rather talk about how you got kicked out of the Army in 2015 for telling your DS that you wanted to go to Afghanistan and shoot children in the face like you hero Robert Bales (who is remorseful and has apologized for his actions)
>>65112426Again, not Robert. It barely met its goal this year after a long history of missing it. However, if the government keeps getting enough numbers to join the military especially with upcoming automation the VA benefits will start to end.

>>65112442I'm anti government if that is what you mean. Also, don't threaten me with a good time.
>>65112447Because you didn't read what I wrote. The government has been in constant war so they need bodies badly. However, once the government starts to automate everything then what? They already got what they want from you. Veterans on Disability are a small number so your votes won't matter to the politicians.
>>65112458So this is a hypothetical based on ZERO data? Yeah, glad I got you to admit this, as you were suggesting this is a historical and verifiable pattern. Instead, you are just fantasizing about living in an oppressive dystopian future, just as you always do.>veterans on disability are a small numberAround 5 - 5.5 million is a small number? That is 50 times the population of your inbred town, Peoria, IL
>>65112469That is small and a huge fraction of them are Vietnam/Korean veterans who will mostly die in the next ten years.Trump just screwed over 40 million people on SNAP lol.
>>65112488Straight up delusional over here. I see why you only like to share your opinions on the internet, so that you can scurry away rather than being forced to answer for yourself when pinned. You think I am going to forget to remind you to outline where on the chart it shows any pattern of VA benefits being reduced? >>65112396
>>65112505Once again, we needed bodies because we were in constant wars. When the government automates most of the military then what? Also, the chart isn't that impressive when you consider inflation.Sorry, big daddy government doesn't care about you or me. One day you will understand leverage and how it works. Here is a video.https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Q31aEaEfajw
>>65112519Ok so you have no data to prove anything you are saying. You want to depict the VA as a rugpull waiting to happen, yet the evidence shows the complete opposite. You are violently upset that veterans receive preferential treatment over NEETs and you are still butthurt that you didn't get to become a veteran because you couldn't even make it through BCT, which was entirely your fault. You are very mad at the idea that people you don't like (trannies, blacks, Jews, women, etc) were all able to do their time and are now benefiting from their service while you are still stuck in your mother's musty basement, larping on 4chan as anything but yourself. Do you still have your dogtags and shirt, or did you do what 92G did and burn it all? Think about it, why did you hold onto these items if you hated the military as much as you claim to? No, you hate that you didn't get to be the evil maniac with a "license to kill", and you're butthurt that other shitbags managed to get through the filter but you got a strong shove to the chest.
>>65112533Woah, where is this rage coming from? I'm warning you about the evil government and you are getting mad. Also, I'm not Robert.I have over 600k in investments and soon should be 700k if everything goes to play.At 12% return + dividends that is ~80k a year. I'm doing more than decent. I was just trying to warn you about our evil government.
>>65112544Robert has a compulsive urge to respond to me at all times, no matter how much he gets bullied, and you already outed yourself a while ago. Verifiably BTFO'd, now trying to switch LARPs, as if you didn't previously admit to making around 30$k/yr. You always fall silent about the truth, so whenever you DON'T address a statement, that is how we all know it is true, Robert.Did you also delete your Dirlewanger folder, or are you just too chickenshit to post his pictures here?
>>65112567I promise you, I'm not Robert. None of my posts were Anti Military. They were Anti government. Beware, once they have leverage it is OVER.
>>65112608Dodging the question validates my position, Robert. It's okay, this thread still has plenty of ramp for more shitposting, so you still have to look at General Milley's face for the rest of tonight and tomorrow. You know what is funny though? If you truly want to create this narrative that Robert isn't here, then wouldn't that mean that I successfully scared him off? Wouldn't that frame me as the winner? How could you, an apparently completely different troll, ever manage to compete against the person that scared off one of the most insane faggots I have ever seen on this board?
Newfag here who the fuck is Robert
>>65112533Veterans do not receive preferential treatment over NEETs except in regards to employment. Even then, only as far as tax rebates for employers. A veteran without relevant education/certification still cannot get a job solely on their military experience, they’ll need to utilize their GI bill and pursue education post-separation. t. 42B turned HR executive
>>65112625I was also referencing the social aspect, as I am personally attacking Robert because he had this dream of sitting around a campfire with other vets and swapping war stories, or invoking his service to make people straighten their back and show him respect in public. Instead, he gets treated like the degenerate NEET he is, like human filth.
>>65109556If I lie about having had some questionable prescriptions (antipsychotics + beta blockers for heart arrythmia) in the past 10 years will they see it in MEPS?Can I just claim I forgot? XD
>>65112632The social aspect is irrelevant in current year. All the old places on the “circuit” for free drinks/refills/etc for veterans got rid of those deals. The current socio-political climate is also turning against veterans. The only place I receive any sort of “social benefit” for my benefit status is on the second floor with the active-duty enlisted working bumfuck jobs for CIA/homeland security and only then because I left at a “cool” rank. The social benefits don’t exist anymore. Arguably, they haven’t existed for around 15 years. Then again, I was a pencil pushing staff officer with a penchant for laziness, so what do I know.
>>65111632
>>65112722You're misunderstanding me. Robert signed up because he had this fictional fantasy that people would stop treating him like dirt if he had a DD-214 and battle scars. The real reason he comes here is because he can't handle being disrespected and has been attempting thousands of permutations to "win" against me because I insulted him in 2020. He never cared about service or benefits or honor - he just wanted people to treat him better. Yet here, even on an anonymous anime forum, he is treated far worse than the average user. He hates being at the bottom of the totem pole, and thinks "defeating /meg/" will stop the bullying. He can't understand that the bullying ceases when he isn't here, and he didn't get it even when he disappeared for nearly a week and came back to the horror of a thread that ran perfectly fine without him and operated as if he had never existed. Nobody talking about him, good or bad, felt like the worst form of disrespect, because even infamy is preferable to obscurity for someone who feels completely alienated by society.

Normal recruits aren't thinking about farming 100% P&T before even joining.Normal recruits are actually thinking about a job that they both WANT to do AND that they think WONT fuck them up (even if that job is very physically demanding).Normal recruits aren't intentionally fucking up their health to get P&T because... they're fucking HUMAN beings with bodies that are supposed to last the rest of their lives.SHOCKER. People don't want to live with crippling conditions that they intentionally caused themselves because believe it or not hurting yourself is psychotic. But you (Robert) are posting all of this to badjacket VA benefits because you're still hung up on losing the previous argument.

>>65112779>>65112804>never work againLmao if your dream is to never work again, getting 100% P&T is a dogshit way to do that.100% P&T doesn't pay for your living everywhere in the US.Yeah it might but your quality of life won't be great if you don't work on top of receiving disability. There are hundreds of other paths to "never work again" that do not involve destroying your body, spending multiple years working in harsh conditions, intentionally putting yourself in shitty jobs you didn't want to work in the first place, etc.Once again, NO VETERAN WANTS HEALTH CONDITIONS. THEY WOULD RATHER TRADE THE MONEY TO GET RID OF THE CONDITION FOREVER IF THEY COULD.THE POINT OF DISABILITY IS BASICALLY WORKMANS COMPENSATION. WITHOUT IT, THERE WOULD BE NOTHING FOR THE WOUNDED AND AFFLICTED.The fact that Robert was in the army and was BCD'd is proof he is pretending not to know this, yet he continues to argue in bad faith anyway.
>>65112839It's almost as if the hyperbolic bullshit that emanates from the fringes of the internet has little bearing on the real world. >>65114739All of those are possible options, but the only way I know of to have everything paid for is to do the traditional route. You can, I have been told, only do the scholarship for a few years of medical school but I do not believe it pays for the years you already did before joining the program, however your service obligation will be less. Up to you whether you'd like to have debt hanging over your head while making a military doctor's salary. I don't know if you can have it done retroactively, worth talking to a medical recruiter about it.Traditional route (4 year scholarship):0 (optional)) Contact a medical recruiter and begin the process now - there's a shitload of documents and it's easier to do before you're also studying to pass medical school classes1) Get accepted to a US MD or DO school2) Formally apply for scholarship3) Get scholarship (You're almost guaranteed if you have an acceptance letter and no disqualifying criminal or medical history)4) Attend medical school for free, get paid a stipend, get a signing bonus5) Serve 45 days active duty per-year, some of which will be "At school ADT" where you just continue to do what you're doing but get paid more. One summer you will go to DCC/BOLC and get trained up. Your last year you will do active duty rotations at military hospitals for residency application6) In your 3rd year of medical school, contact military programs you'd like to rotate at in your specialty of choice during 4th year7) Hopefully you get accepted to a program you liked most8) Graduate medical school9) Go into active duty and do residency10) Serve active duty as a doctor 1 year for each 1 year of residency with a minimum of 4 yearsSince you're actually here for HPSP questions, I will check the thread more frequently for follow-ups.>t. I am actually going to do this.I am studying hard for the ASVAB.I am thinking about:17* or 68W or 68XHow dumb am I? Can anyone give me any hearsay on these MOS?
>>65115462Both are good options, but keep in mind that 68 series won't do shit for you if you do not educationmaxx. 17 series is great if you hate the sun but keep the longer service obligation in mind.
How difficult is it to change jobs once you enlist? Say i go in and get assigned to some generic shit but want to do something IT related later
https://www.ebay.com/itm/326567664202?_skw=Seal+Team+2+patchi find it funny that 6's patches are basically all over the internet and ripped off now to the point any tacticool based retard in arkansas can buy it on Amazon but the other SEAL teams' individual Task Unit/Troop patches are basically impossible to find 99% of the time.
anyway if i became one that's the unit i'd wanna join because Skulls are cool.would it be too hard to be in a band while being active duty on top of like, trying to see my mom, dad, etcetera in my free time or leave?
>>65109838Clearance only wants to know that you aren't a spy or a liar. They are *very* good at spotting lies, my agent caught me in some stupid lie and asked me why I lied, I told him I was just stressed about the interview and he respected that answer enough to move on. We ended up spending the rest of the interview talking about me buying a house, and him giving me advice on how to use my VA loan. Super nice guy, but they're very obviously good at their jobs. I got my clearance, so it's not the end of the world if you don't give perfect answers. They're not the military, they don't give a shit if you have different answers from your enlistment questionnaire that don't line up, as long as it doesn't sound like you a gambling degenerate or in a significant amount of debt. Just be forthcoming, use common sense and show them a lot of respect and you'll be fine. About the drug thing, be vague but just say "I did some experimenting a couple times after high school, but discovered very quickly it wasn't for me. It's been 5-8 years since I've tried any substance."
>>65116112Highly depends on which branch you jkin and which specific job you sign for.
>>65116681>jkinJoin**
>>65116112Better to pick the one you are sure you want. In most cases, the soonest opportunity would be upon re-enlistment
>>65116112Lol you’re fucked once they’ve got you they own your wagie ass forever And don’t expect that enlistment bonus either they’re doing some serious Hebrew magic where it only counts if you complete all 5 years with perfect service record, and suddenly one day you get a shaving infraction that voids the bonus
>>65116715aaaaiieee im so demorbalized
>>65109838Make sure and tell them all of those things. I don't want a freak like you responsible for our defense. That's the problem with the military today
>>65116739How did honesty work out for you, Robert?
>>65109556> LYING ABOUT MEDICAL HISTORY: GOOD (YMMV)Why are you dudes encouraging people to lie about medical history? From what I've been reading, the new Genesys system picks up everything that was digitized as long as you were:> Admitted to the hospital> Prescribed something> Diagnosed with somethingEverything I have read indicates lying about your medical history at MEPS is a terrible idea.
>>65117115You're really still going to try this tactic when Genesis is addressed in the OP?
On the topic of lying, how much do certain things impact ability to serve? I was diagnosed with ADHD in 4th or 5th grade and took meds for a few months before stopping. So it was like 13-14 years ago. Should I come clean?
At the bookstore now, there are 2 different "ASVAB for Dummies" books plus 1001 practice questions. Which should I buy?
>>651172541001 practice problems will do you better because ASVAB for dummies isnt as focused as you would assume.
>>65117260Ended up just getting both. Got a text back from the recruiter and I'll be going back on Monday for a talk and practice test, so I'm gonna practice for that. Hopefully this'll also help on the actual test
>>65117244>On the topic of lying, how much do certain things impact ability to serve? I was diagnosed with ADHD in 4th or 5th grade and took meds for a few months before stopping. So it was like 13-14 years ago. Should I come clean?Nah. Not important. That's so long ago you have plausible deniability if somehow it's discovered (you didn't remember). And the military doesn't tend to go LOOKING for reasons to DISQUALIFY you from serving, beyond basic things like are you an enemy spy.The part I was afraid of was I smoked weed in Sophmore year and I was afraid of putting my friends in the position of having to lie to the FBI during my personal reference check for security clearnace, so I came clean about it at MEPS when "Levenworth" got mentioned. There was no reason to be worried about that. I've since been interviewed by the FBI myself for a friends security clearance and it's more address verification than anything. They do ask about things like why you were friends, but they don't openly ask about criminal history, so as long as you don't offer up information like, "yeah, we used to put fire crackers in mailboxes", it's nothing major.
>>65117301Best of luck! The higher the score, the wider the array of job options.
>>65117176I see two links provided without context. One is broken and the other leads to a generic government site for military healthcare.I don't know what I'm supposed to infer from this.
>>65117556I'll get the first link fixed in the next thread, thank you for reporting this issue. What is nice is that there are plenty of other sites which can provide information about Genesis, so people don't need to rely on the incorrect and biased opinion of a guy who has spent 11 years seething about getting kicked out of the Army before he even completed BCT, and now thinks he can defeat US military recruiters by shitposting on 4chan.
>>65117115I lied extensively on my paperwork in easily provable ways and am eagerly awaiting a MEPS slot so I can report back to /meg/ to tell you guys how bad I fucked up and how mad the staff were.
>>65117656Tell me all about how fucked up your health is, and your result from MEPS.I'm really nervous about MEPS because I'm kind of old and fat.I reported heart meds and antipsychotics to my recruiter and he didn't seem to think it was a problem. (nb4 schizo lol)By his reaction, I infer that there is still a recruit shortage and they are starving for bodies. It appears Zoomers don't want to risk being deployed to Iran.
>>65117746>Robert pretends to be interested in joining just so he can keep insisting on the non-existent "recruiting shortage"Do you want to talk about VA benefits being throttled again? I have the graph handy to beat you down a second time for the same bullshit
I remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't really bother with studying topics that are unrelated to a job you want, is this considered sound advice?
>>65119012For the ASVAB, that is
>>65119012>>65119015Why would you not study for the entire test? This is terrible, Robert-tier advice intended to convince somebody to torpedo their test results.
>>65119019Ah. Starting to see why no one likes this Robert guy

>>65119224I guess no one else is looking forward to shipping out. bummer.
>>65117769Stop calling me Robert, schizo. There's more than just you and him on /k/
>>65120571I'm not ready, I'm at the beginning of the process. I haven't even taken the ASVAB yet. I'm still studying. But yes, I really want to ship. I don't even care if I have to live in a dorm and the food is shitty. I need a reset.
I never thought I'd be a weirdo who would reminisce about the military too much, but then again im also drunk so...happens. Let me tell you guys asking about bonuses and shamming right now why to apply to special operations as either support or beyond.I started my career in 2/327inf, the 101derful airborne division as an 11b. It sucked massive cock desu. Like looking back it was a good place to be, fuck half the people transferring in looked worse than guys we had for less than a year. However, get ready for 1000 hours of fucking bullshit per 20 mins of good shit. At least you'll be in shape. The best thing I did was as a PFC I got out to some local ranges and met 2 retired GBs, along with other enthusiasts, but yea that community set me up way more than my mom or dad in the chain of command could ever do. "EIB, next you'll be a CPL or SGT and we'll send you to FRIES/SPIES" and maybe youll be a twice divorced SFC with two different pit mommies to pay out to one day kid...Training in my off time just for marksmanship paid dividends. These old heads would show up just to see me do halfway decent, then laugh at me and chant "slipknot" when I wasnt so hot at unconventional shooting positions and gassed out, or whatever they came up with.If you never join, think its zog gay shit, theres a lot to be learned just doing that.In my own fucked up mind, I decided the solution to all my problems as a PFC in the infantry was to join EOD. It was a good move...I still remember my first day of training with them calling the first SSG in front of me a "squad leader" and next thing I know everyone around me is heckling me about it like an idiot. It was big boy rules and I loved my time in EOD but its a bit 50/50.
Competency baseline is way higher than infantry, even PT scores were higher. But the mission itself depended where you were assigned and who you supported. If anything, it taught me the piece of the puzzle where - no one will actually make you do PT each day to a high standard, and certainly no one will make you volunteer for hard shit. If you fail, it punishes you more than ever. Doing anything worthwhile is up to you.I guess Im at the word limit, so Ill wrap it up and put this last bit as a reply. I ended up going to SFAS after about 5 1/2y TiS and paying my dues. I had a mediocre career as an 18e at 5th group, which btw I spent my entire time outside of training at Ft Campbell based solely on requests. You cant beat the Nashville hoes. God bless. All I really wanted to say between this is - its so simple a PFC could grasp it. Go all the way. None of this is about fighting the good fight anymore. What will compel you forward is the electric, lightning in a bottle people people who you serve alongside every day. You couldnt pay me enough dollars to deal with military bullshit ever again. But I'd waive everything to be around quality people every day once more.If you're all fucked up...selection does look at how you've prepared. Its public info. Dont be that guy who throws away a bonus just because the airborne or SF/ranger recruiters show up to OSUT/basic. If you arent ready, take it to heart enough to get better. If im being honest, Im pretty sure I wouldnt have passed RASP or SFAS right out of OSUT. You know the one guy who I talked to who for sure graduated RASP and had a successful day 1 career in 75th? He was a bear hunting guide in Alaska beforehand. And of course I heard about others but hes the only one who was funny enough to call from time to time after OSUT, If you're starting off way lower than that, throw it all into a lesser gauntlet, take the bag, and come back with more fire.
Don't get hazed into the barracks, get outside and kill it. Its remarkable what you can actually do if you refuse to quit. Going beyond the adolescent idea of pain and exhaustion, often times finishing in a haze, welcomed by friends.Good luck.
>>65120571I'm commissioning, we don't really do that same process
>>65120957Prior story guy above, fuck officers btw. "im commissioning" Enjoy doing nothing faggot. I hope its what you want.
Hey, /meg/. 92gfag here. I have a quick question. I'll make it short and sweet. I've been flirting with the id of the "try one" program with the army reserves. >the issue I am 100% p&t. I've already gotten confirmation i can still be in the reserves with 100%p&t, but how much of a risk would i be at for losing my VA bux? >Inb4 what mosStill looking them over. The list isn't very long, as they're not going to give the good mos's to people who are only going to be around for a year. I am delighted to see that 92g isn't on the list at all. I think they might have finally gotten rid of that mos.>inb4 timestampI don't feel like getting paper and a pen. I'm about to start driving. Going out of town for the weekend. Edc gun with disability card will have to do for now. 1911 is packed away currently.
>>65120989Sounds nice. More pay and less work? Yes please
>>65121136Unrelated, are you a Glock guy or do you diversify your handgun lineup? I have been curious to try out Glock but I had a poor experience with Steyr due to features like the trigger safety and weird sights, and I am worried the same will be the case with Glock
>>65121354It depends. Im a fan of glock for sure if for no other reason than of the simplicity, and the aftermarket for tinkering. If im going to shoot for pleasure on a flat range, I very much prefer the 92fs and m9a4 I have. The 1911 i have rarely actually gets shot or carried in all reality. It became a meme because one day somone had said "post gun" and it just happened to be the one that was near by. Essentially I carry the glock(s) i have because I have no emotional attachment to them, and in the horrible circumstance it which I heaven forbid ever needed to use it in a self defense situation i don't care if the police have to cease it as evidence.
>be me in 2003>enlist in Army>deploy to Iraq>deploy to Afghanistan>deploy to Iaq again>deploy to Afghanistan again>deploy to Afghanistan again>yet another deployment to Afghanistan>army decides I have been to Afghanistadn enough>send me to OCS>commisions me as Armor Officer>re-branched into Acquisitions right after BOLC>do amazing as an Acquision Officer, lead high-risk, high-value programs at hihg-echelon program offfices>Today, the Army gave me orders to go to Monterey, CA to obtain a Masters in Acquisition>Will retire 2 years after graduating as a MAJ>mfw the Army is going to spend almost 100K on me just to have me retire shortly thereafter.>sweet
>>65120692Same here. I'm a little scared but at the same time, its kind of comforting that my life will pretty much be on a set track for the next few years
>>65121306Its a great career move regardless of his opinion.Prior enlisted just dont get the same respect in the civilian world as prior officers. The part he is probably mad about is the fact that officers do much less in-the-weeds leading than enlisted ncos. What he said for the most part tracks regardless of rank, get out there and bust your balls because you will feel much greater about yourself later.
>>651214316 fucking deployments to the sandbox? You earned it if true.
>>65109556>LYING ABOUT MEDICAL HISTORY: GOOD (YMMV)That ymmv doing heavy lifting so I hear >neverserved, too many private sector opportunities >don't want to die for jews >age out >ranger buddy tells me i would have fit in his unit >regret.exe >whisky pete bumps the age up FUCK I already grieved my youth now I have more years of also not signing then doing the regret thing again as a 40 something
>DV charge (against an illegal who was deported for her charge against me) >but fluent in relevant languages (Spanish, Russian/ukrainian) Is there no shot no matter what? Navy/coast guard
>>65121650The enlistment age is 43 now.
>>65121376That is a fair perspective and makes total sense. I am also partial to Berettas, so it sounds like I'd feel the same way about a glock if I purchased one. Greatly appreciate the anecdote!
>>65121674I don't see how a victim's nationality has any bearing on your domestic violence charge. I assume you were caught beating a hooker?
>>65121136Bumping for halp.
>>65121674>deported for her chargeGuessing it was a false charge?
Do you have to run the AFT in basic with boots?Do you have to run the practice AFTs in basic with boots?
>>65122074No to both. Even if you did, they wouldn't be offical. Anything for record would be in pt's and sneakers.
>>65122074Do not practice running in boots before basic. You will gain nothing and the boots you buy will probably not fit properly and fuck your feet up. If there is one thing the Army gives a fuck about it is getting your sweaty little piggies in the perfect boots for you.
>>65122089>>65122103Thanks, but do you do formation runs in boots?
>>65122138>formation runs in bootsIn basic and AIT I never did. In the "real army" I may have once if even that. It will be a rare situation if at all. Its likely unit / section / company dependant. The only time I remember it was during a company PT event where it wasn't even for long. It was groups of like 5 people each doing events. Only had to run a few hundred feet on boots and "battle rattle."
>>65122152Ok interesting, because my recruiter said something that made it seem like I would run in boots. Guess I was mistaken.
>>65122166Do you know much about his service history? He could be an older guy who is recalling information that could be 10 or 15 or 18 years old
>>65122166Don't get it twisted. Youll "run in boots" but it won't be in the way you're thinking like in a mass formation. It will be in instances like "combat pt" and you won't be doing it very far more than likely. Again, once you're in the "real army" it would be more than likely company dependent.
>>65122170Idk, it was just a thing he said in passing when we were on a run because he was in boots and the rest of us weren't.
>>65122176In a situation like that, he probably only did it because he didn't feel like changing. Im also willing to bet he wasn't wearing thr issued boots. He probably was wearing some privately purchased option which feel more like sneakers than boots which you are free to purchase on your own once you get to the "real army" and wear as long as they are compliant.
>>65122176>running in boots during DEPpoor guy must be counting down the days until he can go back to the real Army.
Im thinking of going army 68p since airforce diagnostic imaging seems like a long shotBut I gotta ask, am I going to be a fat fuck living in the barracksLike is the dfac food shit and will I be able to exercise apart from the standard pt shit which I imagine is middle school type bs
>>65122476You are going to be disappointed by how little the Army fucks with your life once you find a routine and learn the rules
>>65122507So I won't gain weight and become a fat amerilard?I'm currently 31 and not fat
>>65112839Did 9 as an 11b and my knees/hips/back (and shoulders but meh, played a lot of sports that contributed to that) are absolutely and utterly fucked. I think around the 5 hear mark I started noticing my knees/hips/back genuinely aching after rucks and field time (more than the regular amount anyway) and by year 8 my shit hurt constantly. Drill was a decent break at least desu. Only reason I didn't stay for indef was because I didn't want to have a hard time playing sports with my kids at 40.
>>65122476Dfac in garrison, in my experience, will always have a healthy or healthy-ish option. I actually like dfac food. Little chicken quarter, some green beans or mixed veg, whatever. Good stuff.
>>65122795Post a timestamped picture of your electrical outlet
will there be new option 40s on october first?my recruiter said they might not and the guys at meps told me they emailed regiment, and that if I signed within the hour that regiment would come pick me out from osut to let me try at rasp and if they didn't my contract would be voided and I could just go home. I didn't believe them and then they laughed when I said I'll wait for the option 40 to become availableI'm not sure if I fucked up or not
My CAF medical screening is coming up next week. I scored above CAF average in the fitness test, live clean and healthy, but had a history of boozing hard a couple of years ago. Self-admitted to an 8-week rehab, sober since.Do I bother mentioning it on my medical history questionnaire I'll certainly be handed at the appointment? I'm banking on the assumption that the Canadian Armed Forces, having adjusted the standards of Universality of Service, wants to rush personnel in now seeing that they just recently:1. Started accepting candidates with asthma, anxiety, and skeletomuscular issues,and2. Started accepting BMQ cohorts of mostly permanent residents with poor English/French and major malfunctions in assimilating to Canadian norms and standards

I'll try to think over the night
>>65127872What branch are you even joining? That'd help
>>65127872Just take the ASVAB and then go to recruiters for the different branches with your scores and they will give you a list of MOS you qualify for.Read through that list. That's what you have available to choose from *if they have a slot.*Keep in mind, you're still going to have to pass a bunch of health and background checks at MEPS. I'm really surprised robert didn't foam at the mouth upon the recent news of 5,000 servicemembers rotating out of Germany.Funny thing is, I know atleast two people going to Germany soon, so the news is lying again anyways.

>>65133410>>65133372Reclassing is a thing but how easy it is depends on what MOS you are in and what you are trying to go into.Packet MOS like Special Forces, psyops, civil affairs, EOD? Easy. Niche specialized thing? Little harder, and not doable if your current MOS is undermanned and the one you want is overmanned.
>>65133423he was talking about reclassing(sorry that i didnt clarify that)>>65133425>Reclassing is a thing but how easy it is depends on what MOS you are in and what you are trying to go into.this was my understanding as well.he was just saying its easy to reclass without telling me any of the risks.I do want a niche mos so im not gonna risk spending 2-3 in the army with a chance of getting it in a reclass
>>65133474what are you specifically trying to do?

>>65133735And they get paid many magnitudes more than the soldiers they watch work.
>>65134523Which is exactly why doing more than one contract needs some serious justification. The supreme career pathway is to get just enough experience to bag a DoD job and then enjoy the fruits of your labor. Imagine being lined up at 22 years old for an easy life and good pension by 42, when most people have to work twice as long.

What's better for a guy in his mid 30'sAirforce, Navy or Army.I don't expect to be a high-speed guy I'm too old for that. The USMC guy said they could make exceptions if my physical was decent but I'm probably too out of shape
>>65135002>What's better for a guy in his mid 30'sA commissioned officer slot
>>65135002navy. pick an easy job, be mediocre at it, get out after 4 and collect disability and GI bill bux while you fix your life
>>65135011>fix your lifeOr he ends up the medically retired guy with a handicap placard that still hangs out on post and is a nuisance to the active duty guys.
>>65135002>USMCforget that unless you're madly in shape.Navy depending on the job, Airforce isn't hard but they aren't hurting for anyone so you'll be waiting a long time, Army is probably easier than the rest if you're a pog.
>>65134886I'll take the bait; Most former Nukes work for nation datacenters. I know about 10 guys who work for AWS alone, averaging about ~$120-150k/year who did their 6 and got out. For people who qualify PPWS while enlisted, there are MANY job postings on LinkedIn alone for SRO/similar management day 1 out of the Navy. What makes having a background as a Navy Nuke alluring to employers isn't the narrow scoped literal knowledge gained being a Nuke, in fact, civillian nuclear power plants and Naval Nuclear Power plants are EXTREMELY different. A plant in Texas/PA isn't doing power transients the way a Aircraft Carrier or Submarine does. What employers are after are 1. troubleshooting ability 2. managerial experience 3. quick learning/uptake, all of which the pipeline and fleet prepare you for.All that said, can i get fries with that?
>>65135088We can make them curly for a small upcharge
Heads up: MEPCOM just signed a policy identifying 28 medical conditions that are unlikely to be waived. Frustratingly enough, the policy is not actually anywhere publicly accessible, and the only list of the conditions I saw came secondhand.Official announcement:https://www.mepcom.army.mil/Media/News-and-Press-Releases/Article-View/Article/4476429/new-policy-to-increase-efficiency-in-military-accessions/T&P article with partial list:https://taskandpurpose.com/news/military-28-medical-conditions/
>>65135754lol. How very military. >Hey man, you need to change your patches/do this new training/update your information/use this new website >What, why? >COMMANDCOM announced it last week >Oh my bad, I didn't hear about that >All g, I'll send you the Facebook post >Why not forward me the E-mail instead? >I never got an E-mail about it >Wait, then where's the official publication? >No one knows lmao
>>65122476They all go to the same school, atleast as of a few years ago. It's a chill job and you will be stationed at one of the many Army hospitals. DFAC food is whatever and hit or miss, given that you'll be at the hospital for 90% of your career you'll get hospital food which may or may not entitle you to BAS (food allowance). With that said 68P is a relatively difficult contract to come by? But then again maybe recruitment numbers are down.
>>65110982stats/ec? Where else did you get accepted to?
>>65136568516 MCAT, 3.89 overall GPA 3.79 science GPA. 400 volunteer hours, worked in hospice for about a year and as a scribe for a few months. Got in during my 2nd application cycle. As far as med school admissions, I only got the one acceptance. As far as the HPSP program goes, it doesn't help you get into school at all. The onus is on you to get in. Once you get in, you are almost guaranteed the scholarship barring a medical or criminal disqualification. There is also the USUHS option for military medicine. In that route, you are on active duty during medical school and must adhere to active duty appearance etc. You get paid more during school too, but you incur a much longer service obligation. It's still a medical school and is tough to get into. Anything else I can answer?
>>65135754sounds like theyre just moving what are already disqualifying medical issues to the front end so as not to waste time/resources
>>65136806Nah I was just a corpsman and I'm applying to schools this cycle and wanted to see some stats since I heard HPSP was relatively competitive . Absolutely 0 chance of me applying to USUHS/HPSP.
Especially with 80% disability
>>65136816Yeah that's exactly why and it does make sense, I just wish they published the list of conditions, lol.
>>65136838I mean, it's competitive because you have to get into medical school in the first place. I haven't heard of anybody NOT getting the scholarship if they've applied, unless they had medical DQ. It's possible that Air Force HPSP is a bit more limited, but Army and Navy spots are pretty free. GL on this application cycle!
Loser anon reporting in. My DD214 had a reentry code of 3C, which it turns out is not the best one and requires a waiver. My records didn't list any massive fuckups on my part, so the recruiter figured it was either a clerical error or a weird Space Force thing and sent a waiver request in, which was approved in less than 24 hours. Sweet. Next step is getting disqualified at MEPS, which could be as early as next week.

Was briefly prescribed medication for both, and I stopped taking the medication within the span of two years, having essentially realised that I was poorly regulated and stressed about my family. Haven’t taken any meds since and haven’t felt that way in a long time. Frankly I believe it was a misdiagnosis. It’s been just under a decade since I stoped the meds, what chance have I got? Interested in an 18x contract with the army. My ASVAB score is excellent as is my fitness, I have had success in my life after the fact, well adjusted etc. All the same I’m curious if any of this even wavierable, SI, inpatient treatment, meds, diagnosis…

And while I'm in here stomping on both of you faggots, fuck Milley too. The fuck is that traitor's face doing on my /k/?
