Savage makes one of these little "please don't unlawfully SBR this" bolt action pistols in several chamberings, all with 10.5" barrels. It's quite pricey at $1000 but comes in an aluminum chassis.

Do I get one in 300 Blackout? My only concern I guess is the left hand bolt, right side eject thing they did.

A .350 Legend or 400 Legend would hit harder.

.350 legend mogs .300 blacked-out

Exactly my point, glad we agree.

That bolt seems funky as hell, but I like the idea. If you can fit a muzzle device and change the chassis, it could be as cool as you want.

Presumably they have lefty bolt handles because they're demonstrating intent that the shooter will be firing and operating this one handed, like a normal pistol - IE pulling the trigger and holding the grip with their right hand, and operating the bolt with their left hand.
Can't say I'm too keen on the idea, I feel like it's not going to be comfortable to use.
I understand the rationale on behalf of Savage, probably trying to bulletproof the "pistol" designation regardless of impending legal fuckery come 2027 after mid terms.
I do like the idea of shorty bolt guns like this however, would love to roll one together out of a virgin r700 action or something.

I think it's so if the stock is folded, the rifle can't be operated. And it's not easy to find one that swings the other way

I had been pondering the custom r700 idea too. This looks like a way to simplify process of getting a modern obrez for pampered Western pig hands, fire ball completely optional.
Maybe racking a bolt with the left hand will feel natural after some practice. It's hard to say without trying it.

Yeah, that's true. If I see one of these at a shop or show, I'm definitely going to need to try it.
I just think that if I try to use it "shouldered" like I would with a normal bolt action, I'd be catching myself with the bolt handle in my teeth.
Also I feel like it's going to be a difficult adjustment, I've been operating the bolt action with my firing hand all my life, thousands of times. That's going to be a difficult habit to crack.
If it was pump/slide action that'd be another thing.
Maybe I should bring that idea up to whatever entity controls Remington now, the time for the braced 760 pistol could be nigh.

Is this what you get if you wanted a mag fed TC?
I kinda get it.

As a lefty surp bolt enjoyer, I can tell you that having a bolt on the wrong side is okay if you're either shooting something with an extremely smooth action with support so you can run the bolt with your support hand, or if you're shooting something with a really nasty action like a $30 nugget, where you're going to have to really crank on the bolt with your main hand. In that case, you actually get more leverage from reaching across the gun for the bolt.

Unfortunately, this means that shooting a smooth bolt action off hand with the bolt on the wrong side always sucks and there's nothing you can do about it.

You don't have to murder a virgin 700.
XP-100s already exist

Good point.

Why would that matter? It could be an issue for a rifle, but whether the brace on a pistol is folded or not makes no difference to whether it's a pistol or not.
