Why do assassins always try to shoot the president? Why don't they set up some distance away where there's no security and fire a mortar?

As a pure hypothetical for comedic purposes, it would be funny if all of Africa were to have an "Assassination pot" into which they jointly funded an annual $1 billion dollar mission to assassinate the current US president. What could the US possibly do in response? Sanction the entire continent? Who cares, it's a basket case anyway.

50% of food aid comes from the USA
they could rugpull the entire continent by doing literally nothing
>>
>>65110301
>Why do assassins always try to shoot the president?
Because they are not professional and experienced assassins, they are lone wolf crazy people, probably doing this on a whim.
>Why don't they set up some distance away where there's no security and fire a mortar?
Mortars are not easy to come by. An FPV suicide drone with a fiberoptic line armed with explosives or an anti tank grenade would be better IMO. Either way your average joe lunatic would not have the connections or skills to make or acquire these types of weapons.
>>
>>65110881
Do you think foreign aid is given for free and not as part of some kind of trade? Withdraw the food aid and there are plenty of other countries willing to step in

The willingness is the easy part. The hard part is what they step in with. How many other countries do you know of off the top of your head that can feed an entire continent with their leftovers foodstuffs?

This. Here was a pair in Colorado who drove all the way from the state line to Denver to meet up with, then candidate, Obama. They were caught immediately. And subsequently dismissed as "non-credible threats" by the Secret Service. Kinda humiliating. Oh, they were still charged and found guilty of attempted assassination, with all the federal penalties. Hell, one guy got 3 yrs for stealing Nancy Pelosi's stapler! Imagine what telegraphing threats to the PoTUS (or candidates for PoTUS) carry?

I went to school on the west coast and personally witnessed multiple students get passed through on capstone courses and given degrees despite doing none of the assigned work nor reliably attending classes, expressly because of their demographics. When faculty and administration were alerted of this, we were told that they would be passed anyway. In the most memorable case we were told directly it was because they were "a gay middle-easterner who probably won't use their degree anyway."
>>

Long term thinking being a function of intelligence, the hypothetical lone-wolf who can acquire/build, train to proficiency and successfully plan a mortar attack in secret, also knows that Trump isn't some existential threat to his life, and can simply be waited out. The kind of highly emotional, short-sighted ideologues who actually want to kill world leaders are generally too mentally compromised to actually pull it off in any more sophisticated way than getting lucky with a gun or IED.

IDK what you two retards are arguing about, but there was a congressional hearing in the 90s and internal government documents were released and the head of the national science foundation under Ronald Reagan (who was born in germany and whose parents died in the holocaust) decided that STEM MS and PhDs were making too much money so he decided "for national security reasons" to lie and say we had a stem shortage (something the clinton NSF guy at the hearing said was a lie and that he didn't agree with) because he figured H1Bs and giving citizenship for student visa holders who got a MS or PhD would lower American salaries so much that it would not be financially viable for American citizens born in the US to get a PhD in a STEM field in the US because the salaries were so low compared to an MS or working in like finance
It's not even a conspiracy theory, you can read official government documents that were declassified during that congressional hearing in the 1990s
You don't hate them enough

Reagan's mother died in 1962 in Santa Monica and his father died in 1941, also in Santa Monica. Reagan himself was born in Illinois.
Kissinger was born in Germany, but his parents didn't die in the Holocaust. He also had little to do with Reagan in an official capacity.

I was thinking recoiless rocket on a tripod.

Will reliably take out a whole huddle of secret service agents, splash damage is sufficient that it could be in a fixed emplacement and either the target stood there, or didn't.

And while many overwatch positions are screened a rocket actually fires in an arc, so would probably fly a meter above the head of their counter sniper from a lower point.

A javelin would be ideal, and have been used for assassinations before for that reason, but building a javelin missile is hard and building a recoiless rocket is... possible.
>>
There are probably a bunch of these lying around, a funny thing about recoiless guns is that they are particularly hard to deactivate because the barrel isn't really pressure bearing in the same way a cannon barrel is.

Dumb munition can't be jammed, and I'm fairly sure these munitions can be set to airburst which would be relevent if you were remote firing them.

A lot of people don't know this but if you're using HE rounds the range of an m20 doubles and you can hit targets a mile away. With modern gunnery equipment you could probably drop a 75mm shell on a dime.

And interestingly you can sort of suppress these guns, because they're recoiless it also means far less gas leaving the barrel. It would be a large, strange assembly but if you're half a mile away you could build a trebuchet and the secret service wouldn't notice

The capabilities a person has to have to succeed there are the skills necessary for them to make it "big". Relatively speaking of course. Because the truth is that nobody makes it big unless they manage to slither their way into a high position... anywhere really, but most fresh meat make it big by making their high positions themselves. It doesn't really matter what field we're talking about here. That's the uncomfortable truth that most don't want to admit and those who know dare not say: you can't become rich if you don't play dirty and playing dirty without triggering any of the alarms is hard.

But the bigger point I'm trying to make is that graduating from somewhere isn't going to automatically make you financially successful. It's just proof that you're at least this good. And you get preferable form of slavery. But make no mistake, you're still getting fucked. It's just your mouth instead of your ass.

You wanna make money? Of course you do. You only work because you have no options. Start making pocket pussies with vibrating sounding sticks in your garage and go on the Shark Tank. Call them double inserts or something. It doesn't matter what everyone says or thinks, it's free advertising. *fart*

I'm gainfully employed at $40/hr right now, and have a legally binding contact til 2028. I'm fine, I'll get by, but God damn do I hate the absolute fuck out of this job and everyone at the place. I'm on 12hr night shifts right now, M-F, and it's an absolutely brutal position.
If I could physically spare any time at all to go back to school and finish another degree or skill up or whatever, I would, but with my commute and needing to bathe and eat every day, I've got less than 2 hours free every day to make sure all the shit in my life stays on track as it is.
All I'm saying is there is nobody hiring in the surrounding 100 miles for literally anything that pays more than 20$/hr.
I'm serious, nothing.

you remind me one of the most annoying leftoids i've ever met was a Polish piss drinking BDSM furry faggot who detested that his country was going further right wing and not returning to communism.

Leftists in post-Soviet countries are genuinely the worst human beings possible. To have the most irrefutable proof in living memory surround you from birth that leftism is cancer and still arrogantly claim it was fine and everyone ELSE was the problem for not doing it right is the only thing worse than western leftists who live in luxury thanks to rejecting communism, command economies and controlled markets. They should be hunting those faggots.

that's a lot of money you're making right now with those hours and overtime, what are you doing with that money? saving enough to cut back your hours and go to school at some point?
