anyone here deploy as part of GWOT but not get a CAR/CIB or your country's equivalent?
>>
>>65110900
I'm not even sure if I'm a GWOT veteran. Some sources say it's 30 days of post-9/11 active duty; others say 60. I have 59.
>>
>>65111452
did you get the GWOT-SM?

I was in OEF for over 13 months 2009 - 2010 and my commander didn't submit paperwork for anyone's CAB. I don't even care desu, I got out and hit the GI Bill for undergrad and masters, thats what actually mattered to me.

mos?

88H, spent most of the deployment behind a 240 on convoys.

I have a pal who was a 13A with two tours and no CAB. Bronze star tho.
>Would you rather have a CAB/CIB/CAR or a Bronze Star?

'murrica hand out a shitload of shinies compared to pretty much any other NATO nation.
There are plenty of Euros who went through multiple combat tours and performed above their peers but didn't even get their national equivalent of a good-cookie.
Similar story with rank, Euros generally require a lot more experience for each promotions. Becoming an E-4 in an organization like the Royal Marines can take like 12 years for someone who performs their job at the normal level.

I did a year in Iraq and a year in Afghanistan, no CAB. I was however a pog and only went outside the wire twice. Was p comfy tbqh
>>
>>65111604
You’re saying other nato countries don’t have the equivalent to a combat award?
>>65111581
Two different things. You can get a bronze star for being a hard worker. The bronze star has a different meaning if it has a Valor Device attached to it. That is heroism in combat.

I was an army infantryman in Afghanistan 11-12. Didn’t get a CIB although almost everyone in my company did. I was on R&R when there was an operation where they got into firefights for a week. Outside of that Op. nothing happened except for a few IEDs the whole deployment.

Men will go to the desert and die for some piece of colored ribbon. Meanwhile politicians hand those bits of ribbon to each other all the time.

Shiny things for crows.

If I did I never physically received or wore it. I went on terminal leave right after 9/11, before they implemented stop loss.

Indeed. The US handing out participation awards for combat is a bit weird. Most nations don't do that.
Most nations consider combat to be a normal and expected part of the job.
So the lowest-grade combat medals they issue are more or less equivalent to US bronze and silver stars, and they don't hand those things out unless they have very good reasons to do so.
>>
>>65111536
How'd you manage to use it for two degrees?
>>
>>65110900
i got a ribbon for getting commissioned during GWAT then realized jews did this shit so i left. now i have a OTHD.
worth it.

Tail end of gwot but we were still running patrols and ops every day so its something i guess
>>
>>65112072
How often would you get into gunfights on patrol?
>>
Never deployed, enlisted in 2012 and everything was over by then. Feel utterly worthless about it and I don't mention my service to anyone
>>
>>65111824
Which nations specifically are you even talking about? probably irrelevant paper armies that consider standing around in Africa for six months "combat".

No NATO country besides the UK has done jack shit since its foundation, and the UK issues a huge number of Operational Service Medals for all conflicts since Waterloo, as do the French.
>>
>>65112144
What was your job
>>
>>65112109
1-2x a week depending
>>
>>65110900
Only about 75,000 CIB's total were given out during the 20 years of Afghanistan and lraq
>>
>>65112379
that’s A LOT considering at any given time there are only around 40,000 infantrymen in the entire army
>>
>>65111981

Went in already having a two year, applied for my bachelors when I got out and only had to do the course requirements for my first one, worked for a couple years and then did my MBA while working.
>>
>kill people all time during two tours of convoy shit
>but you're a pog so nobody gives any kind of a fuck about you to bother writing up any awards
its a strange feeling, but it was twenty years ago now
everything we did there was for greed and jew interests anyway
