The only AR component I have right now is a 14.5" SR15 upper. Ten years ago both SBRs and suppressors had a significantly less pronounced position in the 2A community, it was seen as niche and not the hill to die on. That has shifted to where we are today, where they were so commonplace it made logical sense to debate if they even belonged on the NFA, and the tax was reduced to $0. That means there WAS progress in the example you used. And like the anon replied said, it's trending in that direction, not the opposite. Accepting a "I don't really need it" attitude to FRTs gives them a good argument to ban them because reasonable gun owners don't use them. It benefits you to get one even if you're not crazy about it.
