Generally its marked DF or its E series as most airshit surefires are E series. Other clue would be it accepting an 18650 battery obvy. But without looking at them side by side, trusting markings or having a battery example. Its very difficult, the closest clue to a DF is that the reinforcing ribs for the mounting area will stand a little less proud since the reinforcing ribs are the same diameter and the DF body is bigger.

What exactly are you looking for?

Pick one. Even if you throw on an LPVO then throw on a dot you're running around with a heavier rifle for night vision. If you go with a dot and magnifier combo, you're then going to have a worse time with magnification. There is no do it all rifle, not right now. >>

>General purpose

>SHTF, home defense, etc
Im a firm believer you should be using an 11.5" + dot + can for your first/primary rifle. Throw a magnifier on if needed but having something with a suppressor that you can move around easily and make extensive use of inside 100m should be priority #0 for most people. Barring you being part of some organized fighting force you are unlikely to be shooting all that far or with a massive focus on partial exposures

SOTAC makes a 600DF light clone that you can pilfer for components if you want to make the light of theseus

I dont see why it wouldnt.
600DF works with LT752
W65 is a clone of a 600DF tube
In the odd event it doesnt, return it to amazon and go full sotac which is a true 1:1 clone dimensionally (functionally kinda shit)
>Head
Yes the W65 will fit a KE2-DF head. There is a $100 one on tacswap for 21 days , lowball him.
Otherwise the malkof E2XTLV3 is $183 and is a pretty decent head, not as spilly as the 600DF but its not like OKW levels of dumb. Id say its inbetween the PLH and 600DF.
>Suspiciously cheap
Meh its an aluminum tube. A whole ass sotac light is like $60 so at $30 you are paying a premium for amazon shipping and handling
>>65113822
They will fail from water and getting hot from extended runs. Idk I wouldnt run one for a primary aiming tool but for a helmet light or robbing head for a handheld its not the worst idea. The switches are doodoo, still better than protac though!

okay so this makes this less clear again. I just want to buy a clicky clack light for my main gun and forget about it, maximizing for flood. Want to just buy a m600DF from surefire directly, just trying to avoid paying more than I need to. If there's a way to get that same quality from a certain mix-match of clone parts all the better but I'm not trying to buy something of subpar quality.

The performance of a surefire light is generally dictated by the head, a m600df comes with a ke2-df head.

Some dumb ass tape switches will dim lights but this is a clickycap setup.

Maybe if your only experience with lights is a rein
The switch is poorly made from an engineering standpoint.
Its why the constant requires a full click/release cycle and why they have higher failure rates.
For a company that wont shut up about made in usa they sure do use a lot of chinese components in their switches!
T. Switch failure in rein

Rein was a mid light
Their 1.0 was almost close to delivering 600df levels of spill but was wicked big and made poorly.
The 2.0 and 3.0 fixed the size issue at the expense of just turning them into a poorly made PLH bordering on OKW, very boring.

If you're going harder than hand tight you might as well throw a drop of Rocksett on there and make it semi-permanent.

I use a bit of Teflon tape on my pistol barrels to keep them snug but not glued on.

You could hand tighten, fire a magazine and snug it on after it heats up

Is the A5 buffer worth it for a carbine 14.5 and a mk18?
>>
The only AR component I have right now is a 14.5" SR15 upper. I'm thinking that I could buy a lower for it (I would buy an SR15 lower, but they're way more expensive than they should be and are discontinued in favor of the KS-series), or possibly sell the upper and put that money toward an MR556A4 11" SBR. I see the utility of a shorty for home defense, etc. and not a whole lot of utility for a 14.5" upper anymore.

What should I do, /arg/?
>>
>>65115507
it shines in the 11.5 carbine system but works about great on anything, look up reviews on people who do 14.5s on other forums or even youtube

I have one FRT left and I'm wondering if I build up a nice ambidextrous matching reciever set with an A5 buffer set up or just toss it into a generic Carbine lower.
I could put it in my Colt lower but I kind of want to keep that stock.
I have too many AR parts sitting around it seems wasteful
>>
>>65115813
Why not put the a5 in a cheap lower?
>>
>>65115829
I technically could build on a stripped lower with the parts I have but I'd like an integrated bolt release on the right side and not have to lean on another b.a.d. lever (that I shamelessly use on all of my ARs now)
Also it is recommended to use FRTs with heavy buffers
>>
>>65115515
If you're willing to SBR it it I say go that route. I am not down with it, so I would buy a stripped lmt mars and go tubbs/a5 with the sr15.
>>
There's an 11.5" DD upper on a LMT lower at my local gunstore for $1500.
I was giving the guy shit for the Punisher roll mark and he said their in house gunsmith put it together and I felt kind of bad about the shit talking.
Worth it for $1500?
>>
>>65115927
LMT has a lower with a punisher rollmark?
>>
>>65115951
It may have been another company.
I was more interested in the upper.
I just saw the punisher skull and my heart sunk a little bit.
I was looking at a URGI upper that goes for about $1500 on its own and always out of stock
I don't really buy firearms at brick and mortar stores unless I'm doing a trade.
>>
>>65115982
well the answer is no, a DD upper is like $800 on brownells on sale new, that lower was most likely a spikes troontical punisher skull receiver, and even then thats maybe 1200 maximum complete
>>
>>65115507
I wouldn't go far out of my way to go A5 but if you're building a lower then definitely go for it. I use mine on those two platforms and it seems to work as advertised. I use tubbs flatwire because it's an /arg/ meme but also because it standardizes the springs I keep in stock for multiple platforms.

You'd think someone who likes uploading files would do so for that since it would cost pennies to print, the type of cost someone who can afford to piggyback a thermal as their primary optic could easily shirk, making this an exercise in learned helplessness.

NTA, Let me explain: the logic is not that there is a set number of Farts sold before Blumpf says TO DESTROY THE RADICAL LEFT, FREE AUTOSEARS FOR EVERYBODY! THANKS FOR YOU ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

The logic is that it shifts the Overton window of acceptable and normal accessories. Ten years ago both SBRs and suppressors had a significantly less pronounced position in the 2A community, it was seen as niche and not the hill to die on. That has shifted to where we are today, where they were so commonplace it made logical sense to debate if they even belonged on the NFA, and the tax was reduced to $0.

That means there WAS progress in the example you used. And like the anon replied said, it's trending in that direction, not the opposite. Accepting a "I don't really need it" attitude to FRTs gives them a good argument to ban them because reasonable gun owners don't use them. It benefits you to get one even if you're not crazy about it.
