Of course this also introduces the possibility of cook-offs from chambered ammunition sitting in an overheated barrel after shooting a belt or two.

Just clear the gun when you're done shooting multiple belts through it, you don't have to worry about follow up attacks.

Mostly they are smuggled out of the US and converted to full auto again, because the domestic cost of many of these systems is a fraction of the international market value
