So for hunting are you mostly just driving around in your truck, see a deer, blast it, drag it back to the truck, and then drive it home? I'm retarded but always imagined people hiking for hours stalking deer, carrying all their camping kit, dragging the body for a full day home. But fat fucks do it all the time.
>>65116104I think most fatties douse themselves in imitation deer urine and sit in a plastic tree hut for 14 hours not moving until they (dont) see a deer. They put up 1000 trail cams around random sections of forest, wait for a hit and then post up the next day and dont see any deer
>>65116104They say you see half as many other hunters for each mile you walk away from your truck. I walk five miles.
>>65116104It depends entirely on where you’re at.
>>65116104I tried learning from books and magazines. I sat in the woods for 5 seasons for hours, completely sucked, and missed a few deer.I went once with a regularly successful hunter and got one with a Mosin in 4 hours.Never went since. It was ok but not for me. I love the meat so I just trade for it.
>>65116933What did the hunter do differently
>>65116942Better area possibly but experience seeing the terrain the right way, map planning and other than that I did all the scent shit and pre-washing with the special soap and all that. Also a rifle is 100% a better weapon than a slug thrower.
Wait you guys don't just shoot deer off the back porch?
>>65116369Pennsylvania whitetail hunting vs south texas whitetail hunting vs northwest blacktail hunting are so vastly different in terms of strategy and actual requisite activities it's insane to even bucket them into 'hunting'. Sotex is sitting in a blind on someone's lease waiting for 80lb does to walk up to their 2x a day meal spot. Pennsylvania you're fighting men to the death to sit in a tree and pray an animal has survived traffic to walk through your woods. PNW blacktail is hiking 15 miles to see a spike 2 miles away across the mountain and coming home to watch the bull plow your wife. Rifle selection and gear all depends on what you're doing and how far you're moving, but it doesn't matter as much as just knowing how the animals move around the environment.
>>65116104>driving around in your truck, see a deer, blast it, drag it back to the truck, and then drive it home?i'm in wi and people absolutely do that though that is not generally what you are supposed to do.
>>65117023Did you lick little pellets of poop?
>>65117122I'm going to be hunting deer in coastal BC and maybe/hopefully larger game eventually. But the smaller islands around here are overpopulated with no predators and I've heard it's ezmode hunting for noobs
>>65116104Honestly find deer hunting pretty boring desu. Upland is where it's at. Kicking brushing and hiking around all day looking for grouse and partridge is so much more engaging. Also setting up a good duck blind or layout with a goose spread is pretty comfy too.
>>65117195what a coincidence, I saw this video yesterday, lol'd hard at that guy. Pretty interesting look at japanese hunting though, funny when the white guy was coping about how "gun laws in japan aren't that different than america" (aside from only being allowed to have a shotgun for 10 years, nobody else being allowed to touch your guns, needing police approval for every individual purchase, police entering your house to check for safe gun storage every 3 year license renewal, etc etc)
>>65116104the fats definitely fuck the deer, if you get what I mean
>>65117211I was surprised the japs even let the gaijin expat get a gun license, but yeah he was pretty clueless.
>>65116104It depends on where you're at, and even then what you can get away with isn't always what's legal. My dad used to super illegally hunt rabbits from his truck by a country ass road near my house. There's a Starbucks in that field now and the road is 5 lanes wide.
>>65117247Would be worth all the bs to hunt in Hokkaido, very cool. I had just assumed guns were totally banned for nip civilians aside from professional/subsistence hunters in remote areas.
>>65117381Realistically though how far are most people hiking or hauling a corpse? Very few of the guys doing it look like athletes
>>65117396A lot of people use vehicles like ATVs or old beater trucks to collect their kill. There are also assholes who will shoot something, collect only a trophy or the best part of the meat and then leave the rest for scavengers.
>>65116104>So for hunting are you mostly just driving around in your truck, see a deer, blast it, drag it back to the truck, and then drive it home?wtf>>65116104>I'm retardedyes?
>>65117685Wow thanks for educating me
>>65116104it's mostly sitting around a waiting for something to walk by. if there's a lot of deer in the area it fun, if not it sucks. last year I was lucky enough to get one opening morning.
>frog poster >I'm retarded We know. Basically what happens in Australia with kangaroos,
Depends on what you want to do with that deer.
